Kaliphlin Guild: Homepage, Sign-up and Discussion
Thrash replied to Si-MOCs's topic in Guilds of Historica
Thanks! Ah, I wasn't sure about those particular spellings. Thanks for pointing out those corrections...these fonts can be so hard to read sometimes! I just fixed them on my computer so that they'll be correct on the final version. To answer your questions: 1. I have the spelling of Nocturnus' capital as "Abyssan". 2. The symbols in Nocturnus are supposed to represent swampland. 3. I think the land overall is called the "Eastern Darklands", and it is divided into the Kelra Labyrinth, Rakath Mountains, and Moruth Swamplands. Haha! The Avalonians are supposed to tell me when they name their capital. Last I looked they were still trying to decide on a name. -

Here is an updated version of the map of all the Guilds of Historica with all of the Kaliphlin landmarks added in from NiceMarmot's beautiful map. Since all the changes were made in your guys territory I thought it most fitting to post it here rather in the Nocturnus thread. Larger Version Let me know if there are any changes you think should be made! -
That's one awesome looking Chariot. Having such an awesome Emissary makes me proud to be a Nocturnian! It also makes me wish I had gotten the Power Miner set that includes that fire monster...time to go check the bricklink prices...

So somehow I managed to not notice the "origins of historica" story...I'll have to update the map accordingly to account for the great city of Cedrica and the central lands. Whoops! -
Nocturnus Guild: Homepage, Sign-up and Discussion
Thrash replied to I Scream Clone's topic in Guilds of Historica
Here's a preliminary map I did for all the different guilds. Mitgardia has the same outline as it does in Viceroy's beautiful map, so his can just serve as a zoomed up version...perhaps each guild can have a zoomed up version to show all the different landmarks that people build for their guilds. I couldn't find the name of the capital of Avalonia, but who really cares? Nocturnus will take it over and rename it soon enough anyway. :) I also didn't name any of the bodies of water. Anyone have ideas for those names? Larger Version -

I've got it covered...give me a day or two! Is the style of my other map what you're looking for? -

Thraxus' minotaurs are working on a watchtower for the Kelra Labyrinth. It should be done sometime this week or the minotaurs in charge of building it will be punished and get sent into the Labyrinth for the Reptrians to hunt... -
Wow...you built this really quickly! You also did a beautiful job building it. The different colors and textures in the tower wall give it a really nice effect. The rock parts are also well done, but my favorite detail is the heads on spikes. Thraxus' architects are currently working on plans for the Minotaurs' tower outside the Kelra Labyrinth...

Nocturnus Guild: Homepage, Sign-up and Discussion
Thrash replied to I Scream Clone's topic in Guilds of Historica
Thraxus, the leader of the Minotaurs, is one of the most feared Warriors in the Nocturnus Guild. With the intelligence of a human and the strength of a bull, Thraxus has been able to outwit or outfight any foe he has come across. No one knows where he got the strange red glove that he wears on his left hand, but no man who has been hit by it has ever survived. The standard Minotaur soldiers have thick brown fur on their heads and wield extremely heavy and deadly double sided axes. Their main task is to guard the entrance to Nocturnus and collect a toll from anyone who wishes to pass. When they aren’t on duty, the Minotaur soldiers love to roam the Labyrinth and hunt anyone who refused to pay the toll. The Minotaur Elite are a rare breed of Minotaur that have metallic fur that acts as a light layer of armor on their heads and distinctive black horns. The Minotaur Elite are trained to dual wield heavy daggers with deadly skill and are used as Thraxus’ personal body guard. And here they are all together: I tried to use parts for these that everyone would have, especially the Spartan torso and legs for the standard soldiers. Hope everyone likes them! Also, as a side note...all four of the Guild Leaders did a great job with these back stories and getting everything ready. This is going to be so much fun! -
I'm not sure how far along the leaders are with planning the map/backstory and everything, but here's a map I drew up for the four factions: And here's a brief backstory to go with it: The morning began much like any other morning. Lords and Ladies from the three realms, North, West, and South sat outside the great hall and looked at the beautiful Treaty Lake while they waited for the Great King to arrive at his throne and open the hall. In the distance, they could see Dragon’s Peak spewing a steady stream of lava as usual. They couldn’t help but be amused that all the criminals they had banished to the Prison Isles now had to deal with a volcanic eruption as well as all the terrible monsters on the islands. Unlike most days however, 9 o’clock passed and the King was nowhere to be seen. He had been late to his throne before, but as the hours passed the nobles began to sense that something was amiss. Around noon the Great King’s most trusted advisor opened the doors to the Great Hall and announced that the Great King had been murdered. Chaos ensued as the nobles began accusing each other’s realms of being behind the murder. Arguing quickly spiraled into full fledged fighting, and within minutes the once stable Kingdom had deteriorated into three separate realms at war. A few days after the assassination, Dragon’s Peak finally had its giant eruption, forming an obsidian bridge from the main Prison Isle over to the main land. If it had happened a few days earlier than the guards posted at the towers along the east coast would have noticed the bridge and the Great King would have sent armies from the three realms to stop anyone from coming over the obsidian bridge. Unfortunately, the Great King was dead and the towers had been unmanned since the assassination, so none of the three Realms were aware of what might be coming… And so began the Great War between the North, South, West, and East.

Guilds of Historica Introduction/General Discussion Thread
Thrash replied to I Scream Clone's topic in Guilds of Historica
I think I'd like to join the Eastern Darklands. It should be lots of fun to get to be the evil guild! -
I think that each guild should have to work together to come up with a cohesive set of MOCs that make up their Guild’s Kingdom. There would be five categories, each containing a few required structures just so that there is some continuity and then also some structures that are left up to each guild’s imagination. For example, each Guild needs a barracks, but each guild also requires some other military structures based on how the Guild likes to battle. For example, one guild might want to have a strong cavalry so they build Stables, while another might want to have a powerful group of wizards fighting for them that are trained at an Arcane Training Ground. At the end of the build (maybe 6 months from now), each Guild will submit one of each required structure for judging by the community. If more than one person in a guild wants to build a particular structure, the guild can have a mini-competition within the guild to choose which MOC they want to submit for judging for that particular structure. To keep the voting simple, we could just have 5 voting threads, one for each category (Military, Defense, Civilian, Resources, Nobility). Here are the ideas I had for what structures are required: Military Barracks Special Military Building 1 - (Archery Range, Stables, Siege Factory, Alchemy/Tech Lab, Dragon Roost, Arcane Training Ground, etc.) Special Military Building 2 Army Figures – General, Infantry, Standard Bearer, Special Military 1, Special Military 2 Defense Main Gate Wall Tower Outpost Civilian Tavern Religious Building – (Chapel, Temple, Shrine, Sacrifice Altar, etc.) Entertainment – (Gladiator Pit, Jousting Arena, Chariot Racing, Public Execution, etc.) Artisan 1 – (Bakery, Butcher, Fish Market, Mason, Painter, Pottery Maker, Torturer, etc.) Artisan 2 Resources Water Supply - (Well, Stream, River, Spring, etc.) Food Supply - (Farm, Hunting Lodge, Fishing Dock, etc.) Special Resource 1 – (Stone, Iron Ore, Magic Crystals, Oil, Wood, etc.) Special Resource 2 Nobility Throne Room Feast Hall Castle Room 1 – (Kitchen, Jester’s Quarters, War Room, Treasury, Dungeon, Torture Room, Princess’ Chamber, etc.) Castle Room 2 I think that people should be able to sign up for guilds based on what theme they want to build in. It simply won’t work if we have a guild where half the people want it to be strictly historical and half the people want it to be filled with magic. To prevent us from just ending up with four normal medieval towns, I’ve come up with these four categories. I think that they will make us end up with 4 really cool, distinct guilds. Faction Ideas West - Historic Medieval Europe (No Magic) North – Snowy Setting, Vikings, Dwarves South – Desert Setting, Persians, Dragons East – Evil Fantasy, Trolls, Skeletons, etc. To make the competition a bit more fun, I’d be happy to donate some BrickWarriors castle themed accessories as prizes for members of the winning guild. What does everyone think?

You know I can't resist a good community castle build...I'm in! Thrash -
Great job with the custom flag and helmet! The ornate chalice on his head fits perfectly for a tournament champion.

I'm happy to announce that the entire BrickWarriors product line is now available in black from our bricklink store. I was also wondering if there are any other colors that you guys would like to see the items in. I'm always looking for new colors to run the molds in! ~Thrash

I came back to look at that awesome twisted snake lance again and I realized that in addition to some nice barding the horse would look much better with a helmet. That poor horse could get hit in the head and lose an eye from the opponents lance!

Wow! Those shoulder pads are absolutely beautiful. I'm blown away by how well you sculpted and painted those. I also really like the chain and feather parts. The only part that I'm not a big fan of is the legs. They certainly look nice when he is on the horse, but I just think his height looks very strange for a minifigure. Can't wait to see your other entries! -
Very nice entry! The goat coat of arms is a funny idea, but my favorite part is the vignette you did. The little place where the girl is on the castle wall is excellent and the squire is posed quite nicely with the helmet.
-
That custom helmet and cape are great! My favorite part is definitely the yellow/blue twist on top of the helmet.

Nice job on this, Penguin. Turning the front of the helmet into a penguin beak was brilliant! -
I love the custom serpent lance! I always thought the Lego lance was a bit thin, so the serpent swirled around it gives it just the right amount of extra bulk. My only suggestion for improving it would be to do some custom barding rather than just a saddle. That might help to give it more of a "tournament champion" look. Great work!
