I really wish they'd make a Last Alliance set but since they have released the Second Age Elrond, I find that even less likely than it would already be (but then they haven't done Sauron...). Maybe they will at least make that awesome elven shield that's in the game eventually. I am quite convinced there will be at least one more wave of LOTR considering the line-up this year. It's like they intentioanly avoided some of the most obvious sets. I agree with the assessment that people aren't being realistic in their minifig expectations (none of us want this theme to have an end) but I think Eowyn, Faramir, Denethor, Grima, Witch-King, and Sauron are reasonable things to hope for. Matter of fact, they could all easily be grouped into four sets and we may get Grima this year anyway. I do wish people would stop moaning about a lack of orc prints though. We have six different torsos and heads plus the three goblins. I think they've been rather generous already. As far as Hobbit sets are concerned, I have high hopes for an assault on Dol Goldur set at some point. With the new sets this summer, LEGO already has the hair mold for Galadriel, Elrond, and Saruman. I just wish that Peter Jackson hadn't written Cirdan out of the White Council. He's an elf with a freakin' beard for Pete's sake! Also, while being a far less exciting scene, the Grey Havens ship would make a much more marvelous set than the Corsair ship.

I'm a 27 year old in Texas who, like everyone here, loved LEGO as a kid. I never wholly embraced my Dark Ages; I treated myself to a small set on my birthday most years and would walk the aisle (shamefully) every now and again. With LEGO diving into licensed themes though, all pretense of being able to avoid LEGO disappeared entirely. First, when I was guiltily checking out the LEGO isle, I saw and HAD to buy Deadpool. I gave the helicopter away to a friend's son and thought that was all there was to it. But then came LOTR... There's just no way I could possibly resist plunging head first into that rabbit hole. Anyway, I started lurking on here a few weeks ago when I decided I wanted to learn to make LOTR minifigs that LEGO would probably never make. I just finished designing my first torso and legs but I still have a LOT to learn. I haven't gotten decal paper or tracked down a good printer or figured out how to get some of the colors I need... So if any of you seasoned customizers are willing to help, I'd love to have some people to ask questions without cluttering the forum with random stuff. So far, I have really enjoyed the community here and seeing the amazing things some of you put together. I don't think I'll be stepping away from LEGO again for quite some time; even after the LOTR license expires. (PLEASE give us at least one more wave.....)

Yes, generally I only buy exclusives from Toys R Us. At the moment they are still getting Mirkwood Elf and Gandalf polybags in periodically if those interest you. They may have others but I don't keep up with many other themes. General sets will be cheaper almost anywhere else. I hope you have a great trip. I must admit I'm a tad jealous.

I have both the S1 Robot and Zombie. They aren't in their bag but they're in new condition. PM sent.

Between the leaves, the arches, and that wonderful hair, I'm going to have to get at least two of the Council set. I'll probably end up with all of the others but that set easily takes the cake for me this year. Now to wait for June... I for one don't mind having single sided faces especially on figs that have detail all the way around their head. I kind of wish the uruk-hai had only one expression so I could get away with leaving a few of them bald.

Looking for Mirkwood Elf polybag figures
Str0ngbad replied to dwarf-brik's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
There's no way I can sell any to you at that price but if you have any LOTR figures to trade we might be able to work something out. Pm me if you're interested. By the time I had them shipped from toysrus they cost me almost $7 each.- 3 replies

I can trade you one of the mirkwood elf polbags and maybe something like a couple uruk-hai but they are too hard to get a hold of for me to trade two mirkwood elves for one Elrond. I'm in the States though so shipping wouldn't kill us.

Wanted: LOTR/Hobbit Figures
Str0ngbad replied to General Magma's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I have a few of the figures you're looking for; the four goblins, yazneg (but no warg), and I might be persuaded to let go of a mirkwood elf). Do you have any lotr duplicates you'd be willing to trade?- 13 replies

The whole thing is fantastic but I really like the way you built the fixtures for the fire at the entrance.

Hold up, clearance? Maybe I'm late to the party but where? And how much?..

Let me know what you think of them, will you? I'm using some cheap synthetic brushes but I've been satisfied with my results so far. I'd like to get an airbrush set up but everything I've found in my area is packaged with an air-compressor which I already have. It looks like the weather won't let me paint for another week. I just went and tried toothpaste on a hairpiece and didn't have to paint it to know it won't work for this project. It is difficult apply with detail because of its consistency and difficult to get out of cracks and corners. I can see how it would be much cheaper for large, smooth surfaces though.

Alright, I'll try a piece with toothpaste and see how it works. Thank you for the suggestion.

Is there any way someone could post or e-mail me screenshots of Gil-galad and Glorfindel? I played the game on DS and had a blast but now that I really want to make out the details of the characters, I'm wishing I'd gotten it for xbox.
-
Thank you for taking the time to help. I have practiced on a few things since I posted that question and it doesn't seem like its going to be a problem to keep the detail. My only concern now is keeping the flesh ears clean. Masking fluid does a wonderful job of protecting it but it is hard to remove without damaging the paint near it.

It is pure speculation but I don't think its fanciful. You have a point with the Corsair ship but you can't make a similar case for the council of Elrond set. LEGO could easily have made another 'Uruk-Hai Army' type set at the same price point without any more new molds than for the council. Honestly, that's what I find most surprising about this wave; there is nothing at all like a battle pack. It doesn't seem likely that they would leave Gondor and the biggest battle of the trilogy out entirely. I admit it's possible but it just doesn't seem like the best four sets to pick if you want to milk as much as you can out of the theme.

This thread is dusty so I apologize if I'm mistaken in thinking this is where I should post this. I'm about to attempt my first custom minifig and after lurking around and reading tutorials, I still have some questions. I want to paint the Legolas/Haldir hairpiece light bley while leaving the ears flesh colour. I bought a white spray on base by Citadel today but was unsure whether a spray would apply evenly to a piece with detailed crevices and such. Also since I want to leave the ears unchanged, I got some masking fluid to cover them in before I lay my base but I haven't seen this mentioned in any of the forums I've looked on. Does anyone have suggestions or warnings for me? Any help would be appreciated and assuming I get past this step, I'm sure I'll have questions about other aspects of customization. Thank you!
