Theres a 3D printer at my job now, and our technologist tinkers with it all day and so far has managed to create uselss little baubles that fall apart and look really scruffy. I don't think the tech is there yet. At this point anything you model may require sanding, filling and painting if you want more than one color and for it to look good. With something as small as a lego piece, it might be impossible to sand fill paint and have it retain its buildability. Theres also the time it takes to print, the energy requirements (pretty sure they aren't energy star certified) and the wasting of materials used in experiementation, and let me tell you, everytime you use that thing its an experiment, in fact it says right on it "experimental 3D Printer." So I dont think its cost effective anyway. Having some experience with both 3D printing and molding, I say for custom lego, go with molding for now.

Hi, My name's Autorazr, kind of a new member (been active mostly on the minifig customization board for a few months now) and I am the creator of The Daft Punk MOC that has been going viral (am I giving myself too much credit?). Anyway, I realized I never posted it here, and after seeing the positive reactions to it, I have posted it to CUUSOO in hopes of giving people what they want, an awesome Daft Punk lego line. here is the link for CUUSOO http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/40291 and the article on Gizmodo http://gizmodo.com/ok-these-are-megablocking-awesome-but-ill-only-note-that-493730226 thank you everybody!

you're right brickmaster, I think his middle claw also comes form the wrist instead of knuckles, sadly I do not yet have the glow in the dark claws.

Ironbar from Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome (sorry for crappy pic, this was from before I cared) I've got a ton more, after I compile em all I'll do a mega post. -
hey, I've got a few that I have posted before on the Purist Superhero thread Roy Harper and Red Hood Black Mask Royal Flush Gang Clayface Im sure you could easily swap yellow heads for flesh tone, I just prefer yellow and convert as many of my heroes as I can

Hey, got a massive update here. I'm gonna start with DC characters and finish with marvel. Some of these have been done on this board, just trying to spice it up with my own flavor (that was cheesy) Two-Face Black Mask Lex Luthor and Lexo Suits Clayface (cheating) This is my version of the Royal Flush Gang, its kind of a mix of many different versions. Negative Man of The Doom Patrol! Ok now Marvel Wasp and Ant-Man Black Panther Another Version of Hawkeye Hulkling Chamber @howie28 I havn't found a good way to make an Ironman helmet yet. A page or two back I posted my MK I and you'll see I used an old style helmet with old knights visor flipped up to reveal Tony's face, I felt this was the only way. My only other suggestion would be the Evil Robot from CMF's head.

thanks DraikNova. I like to build things to scale with minifigs so I can always have one to enhance the scene.
-
Sup? Here's an ED-209 I built, its been done I know, at this scale and bigger. I made some changes to what I've seen and added a little Dick Jones and control panel. This one was a labor of love for me, as Robocop IS my favorite movie and I did not want to have to buy any new bricks to make this guy, so it took me many long nights of digging and sorting to find the right pieces and throw him together. I may get into the habit of recreating famous robots, just always been intimidated by some people's really incredible MOC's like all the gundam ones people do. Thanks.
-
whoa, that thing is incredible! It gives me ideas for the giant tub of bionicle and those throwing arm guys that I thought I'd never use for anything. Is it delicate, like could it actually be played with like an action figure?
-
@toothpick, lol, I thought I was already flooding the page, bring it on itll make me feel better
-
@toothpick11 nice Namor, ive been struggling with whether or not to post mine. I dont have a good shirtless body, other than the jungle man so my Namor is a little weird, hes more like his current look in x-men where he's mostly covered. But good choice of head, I used the same exact one I think. I don't know valor or gangbuster but they all look good. I'm all about the yellow skinned legos, so youve always got my support.
-
yep, you gotta break it. The figure works purist without it, so just an added detail.
-
Ok, This post will round out all the villains I've been working on. Dormammu The Hood Hobgoblin Pyro Spider-Man Villains I have a Hero Too The X-Men's Dr. Nemesis

sup everybody? Got some new stuff, some updates to old. Clint Barton "Hawkeye" Mandarin, Crimson Dynamo and Mk I Ironman Toad, now and then. Jean Grey, Iceman and Beast Forge, Longshot and an updated Deathlok Now, some DC comics. Roy Harper (Arsenal) and The Red Hood Jonah Hex
-
@gedren_y, there is also the painter guy from collectible minifgs with a tight goat, but his eye wrinkles made him look too old @oo7, I need that hair, and yeah originally I had that head on shaggy, but I had the same problem that he looked old. What are your feelings about using the purple bod on the elsa pic for daph? I had toyed around with that too, thought she might look a little too formal amidst the other characters though. Thanks everyone for the input, I will continue to improve these.
-
@Praiter Yed. I know what you mean, its mostly my style of building, I prefer to use more traditional pieces, simple bricks and plates, as most of my parts come from older sets. It's a stylized interpretation, meant to be more blocky.
-
@Str0ngbad, you're right, he isnt very shaggy, but putting scruffier faces on him makes him look so much older than the other characters. @TrumpetKing67, wish I had a better red hair piece, I have a dark red (maroon) long hair and the hair your avatar is wearing would be my only other options. The only long red hair I can think of is on the Elf Woman in series 9 but that's way too wild looking for Daphne.

Modern Deathlock must be more decomposed, hes been pretty bald lately
-
@ ReZourceman, that is one fine doop, now I have to buy that silly little thing. Also, and I mean no disrespect cause you guys are really blowing me away with some of this stuff, why are we putting hair on deathlock? he's bald.
