What does everyone think of the officer minifig in the first order battle pack? I thought all of the officers wore either grey or black, not dark blue...

I remember when the pics of the retailer catalog leaked and we saw the star wars winter 2014 sets. I specifically remember that for the kashyyyk troopers set, the 2 kashyyyk scout troopers had the torso from the mirkwood elf polybag and their helmets were the exact same as the white scout trooper from the star wars range. Lego presumably did this because they hadn't finished developing the torso print and the helmets. So relax about the bowler hats - they're most likely a placeholder for a sweet new pirate hat. As for the ship being small, like someone before me said, it's the same price as the LOTR corsair ship and I like that ship a lot! (personal complaints about it as a set, that entire wave, and LOTR as a theme in general aside)

Wow, I'm definitely let down. I really hope that army builder is amazing....

personally i love the hooded figs. i feel like they look very elf-y, forest-y, ranger-y, in every way representing the vibe of sylvan elves. maybe only one of the elves should have been hooded, but at the same time i enjoy having 2 archers.

I wish we got factions that weren't necessarily good or evil. It'd be cool to have black falcons, lion knights, dragon knights, forestmen with the deer/elk insignia, or the wolfpack group. and the dragon knights wouldn't look super duper angry like they do in the current castle line. they'd be more like those of the 90s

this sounds good. Too bad the laketown polybag is a lost cause for so many people. personally i have enough of them to where i don't care at all about getting any more laketown troops... (but i am very lucky to be in this position)

in a beautiful world, dain & his boar would be in the erebor set, and the bo5a set would have 2 armored elves, 2 armored dwarves, and 2 orcs. i dunno what animal (horse/warg etc) it'd have....

Aren't 79015, 79017, and 79018 scheduled to be released in October? Wouldn't that automatically make them LOTR sets since the Hobbit TABA sets won't be released until December? Maybe TLG saw weak LOTR sales and so went back to the drawing board and has now planned to release only 3 sets instead of 4 or 5 or 6 or whatever, and also pushed back the release date? I am keeping hope until the end of 2014 at least.

This might have already been said, but I feel like if that special character can also function as a soldier (e.g. Eomer) then it's fine. But with Thranduil? No. It just makes no sense. I don't think a whole lot of us want an army of Thranduils. I'll be buying 1 MEA. IF Thranduil had been replaced by an orc or elf warrior, I'd probably buy 2-4

I have 4 Laketown guard polybags on reserve at my local TRU. (I did store pick-up) I wonder how much they'll be selling for in 3 months

With the way that it's worded I'd guess they mean to say that there won't be anymore sets. Otherwise why would they even say it in the first place?

I think the most valuable piece of information to know in regards to theory-crafting about a third LOTR wave is this: How well are the LOTR sets selling? And not to be rude, but please don't respond with anecdotal evidence

I agree slightly. I wouldn't mind if they made their debut in maybe one set... I just wish they didn't come in the battle packs! Plus they're part of that vehicle in the Kashyyyk BP, how lame is that?!

I really hope we get some castle sets that are like those of the 90s, with darker settings and castles and factions. For me, the shiny blue is very boring

I'm in love with the pilot. Too bad the set he comes in is really lame imo. For the clone, like everyone else has said, I really wish there wasn't that skin wasn't noticeable. Seriously inexcusable, why didn't they just use the new stormtrooper/scout trooper head?

You are probably right about the Balrog thing. (from Lego's point of view) For the battle pack situation, as long as the sets aren't exclusive (so I can get them for 20-25% off on Amazon) and the minifig to (retail) price ratio is no greater than 1 : ~$5. Also I agree entirely with Deathleech about wanting the orcs to outnumber humans. (or elves, which unfortunately isn't the case with the MEA.....) Actually, I almost prefer the middle earth "army" sets to the Star Wars battle packs. I like the fortress walls, tree forts, artillery, wargs, horses, etc that the army sets offer. (although I'll only be buying 1 MEA because of its awkward minifig composition. I wish thranduil was replaced by an orc and came in another set instead)
