Hiya, 9398/mods
MrNumbskull13 replied to Vr5fx's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
You can fill the tire with 7 much smaller tires or put elastic bands around the edge of the rim where the tire sits or... I came up with making a cut out on a 50p sponge from asda and basically filling the tire with it, I used 2 sponges though. -
I am wanting to plan a Lego Trial Truck on LDD but before I start I want to know this: what is the best portal hub/axle design? I do not have the official Lego ones used in the Unimog and the 4x4 Crawler. I was hoping some people will have instructions or pictures, I have tried a few myself and I found that a slightly modded version of 1nxtmonster's design was best for me, what do you guys think? Thanks in advance!

I got the 8420 for my birthday quite a few years back, it is awesome! It is very strong and has some cool parts like a u joint and one of those massive suspensions! The b model was also great and I think I've built each of them at least twice. The 8291 is also a great set if you're not wanting to spend as much money. It also works well and also has front suspension unlike the 8420. However I found that the 8051 was quit a let down. It looks great and it has front suspension but it is terrible to play with. This is because when you push it the front end flexes and the front wheel rubs against the rest of the bike. IMHO I'd get the 8420 if you can find it for a decent price as it hasn't been available from lego for years. It's the best.

I once got one of those 3L connectors with a hole in the middle stuck in a turntable with the red 2L axles. -

Thanks for pointing out my mistake, edited it now. :) Also I'm using an XL motor for propulsion and I don't own any mLAs :/ -
Your parts wishlist
MrNumbskull13 replied to skppo's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
A turntable with ball bearings would be nice as I find they don't turn very well when they have to deal with a lot of weight A range of cutch gears that require different amounts of force to make them slip Stronger u joints. -
As you may know I am building a 6x6 Trial truck using LDD. I have one issue for making pendular axles though, I need a susbstitute for a turntable since I only have 2 and they are too large for my model as it is only a medium sized truckl. I am looking for something that can handle torque and doesn't cause too much friction, thanks in advance!

RC Stuff in LDD?
MrNumbskull13 replied to MrNumbskull13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Oh I have been using normal LDD. :( -
Hello again, I have recently downloaded LDD and started building a pendular suspension set-up. My only problem is how should I transfer power from the main chassis to the pendular axle? Should I use Zblj's idea where two double bevel gears are meshed together (shown in one of his trial truck tip videos, I think it MIGHT be number 3 or 4...) Or should I just put in a rod that goes through the pivot point. Sorry if it's hard to understand - that's the best I could explain it. :/

Does anyone have pics or instructions of a compact independent suspension system with drive and steer? It's for a medium sized 6x6 trial truck I am about to build. I would prefer regular double wishbone or something like that but if anyone has a compact tatra suspension system I would be interested in pics, etc too! Thanks everyone.

Good job for a first! Maybe you could make an Articulated hauler next? I'd like to see one of them!
