World Racers Summer 2010
Still Raindrop replied to The Green Brick Giant's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Agreed--although they also give off a distinctively Mad Max vibe to me. -
Very nice! The designs are smooth and well-executed. The speeder and the base may be my favorites, but I'm not sure.
-
This is what my toilets look like; feel free to use the design if you like it. You can't really tell from this image, but there is one of these pieces on the bottom.

Genetics are interesting; maybe there was a strawberry blond somewhere in the parents' family, and those genes just happened to spring up in the kid. I've known it to happen before. Or, more likely, they decided they wanted a kid, built one, and chose that color hair for him. This is LEGO, after all.

A nice-looking set, though I'm not sure why they didn't keep the more accurate sand-red color scheme, or at least use dark tan.

REVIEW: 8683 LEGO Minifigures Series 1
Still Raindrop replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thanks for the review! As far as "Tribal Hunter" goes, I think that's more due to the inconsistencies in the United States. "Red Indian" has been an offensive term for decades; the ideal would be to refer to each tribe by their tribal name, but that's not always possible, esp. when talking about the peoples as a whole. There's been some disagreement--"Native American" is the more politically correct term, whereas many of the people themselves prefer to be called "American Indians" or just "Indians." -
What else could it have been? That's basically what truck trailers are in real life: giant boxes on wheels. They're meant for transport. I really like this model; I doubt the wife will let me get it (money is really tight, and I haven't been able to buy any LEGO for months), but it's a great model. (Actually, even if I could get it, I'm not sure where I would store it)

Definitely a typo. I would have actually preferred some genuine Old English; it could be incorrect (like, I understand, their Latin was), but it would be harder to spot. "þu eart. . . ."
-
I think Joebot was referring to the sexual connotations that the word "groping" carries.
-
I like it! It's simple (elementally), elegant, and functional! I also really like the idea of a LEGO camp! I wish I could have gone to one of those when I was a kid.
-
I like this minifig; I agree that it's not the best in the series, but it is nice. I like the new torso and the new head, but I would rather have a bley, pearl bley, or even metallic grey katana instead. The gold doesn't really seem that realistic. Good to see that they're old-style, though.
-
Thanks! I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one to name my minifigs, as well Do you think you'll show us some pictures of your minifigs? The names are great!
-
Thanks--glad you like them! I'm going to try to flesh out the beach more. As far as the faucets, I'm really not sure how I could change that, apart from trying to track down some of those elusive faucet pieces that LEGO put out for a while. I am kind of pressed for space, and so making the faucets bigger (as the methods you suggested would do) wouldn't really work.

Some interior shots of the A-frame: The floor plan: The kitchen, including my blender (which I already made a topic about a while ago ) The fireplace and two Futons, which can be converted into a bed: The bathroom: (you can't really see it, but I used one of these pieces on the toilet. In the picture, it just looks empty) Thoughts would be appreciated. I tried to make a sort of a loft for the upper floor, but I couldn't really do it without making the house bigger (and I don't have enough pieces to do that)

One of the most common complaints I've seen on the town forum is LEGO's decision to put the same massive wheels on both cars and trucks. These wheels stick out way too far, and make otherwise smooth, slick cars (like last year's red sports car) take on a ridiculously bulky appearance. I believe, however, that I have found a solution. At first, I traded out the monster wheels with the ones from the mail van. This looks OK, but I couldn't get the wheels a good distance from the mudguard--either they were too close, or they were too far away. But with the introduction of sets such as 8195 Turbo Tow, LEGO has put the tires from the aforementioned wheels onto the chrome racing wheels. I tried putting these on my red sports car, and I think they look wonderful! The wheels don't stick out to the sides at all, and they sit very nicely. Here are some pictures: Side view: 3/4 view: Front view: Let me know what you think!

Wow, it looks great! I like the way the MOCs blend in with the official sets. The bulked-up police station looks great, too! My wife and I only have a one-bedroom apartment, so you've got more space than I do

Well, if nobody has anything else to say, I guess I'd better just keep posting more, and hope for the best.

Nobody else has any thoughts or suggestions? When I posted my first town (Brickenridge), the comments and suggestions of members helped me make it a better town, and I do always want to be improving Rossville. Anyway, I have some more pictures. Here is the interior of the fish and chips stand: And now, let me introduce some of the minifigures of Rossville (though I'm sure I've missed some, and not all of them are named yet). The captions above the pictures will tell you who they are. From left to right: Roy L. Crest (the milkman); Mark (me); Katie (my wife); Ima Stamp (mail carrier) From left to right: Ray Tanner; Sunny Strand; [still unnamed beach-goer]; Sandi Strand From left to right: Chip Sandfish (Fish and Chips Stand owner); Captain Brian E. Waters From left to right: Timmy; "Pop" Fizkin (soda shop owner); [unnamed soda shop patron] From left to right: [unnamed lady]; Mr. Mum (a mime); [unnamed man]; Noah Tall (librarian); Mayor Maynought (mayor); Ray Porter (television reporter); D.J. Redo (disc jockey); Mose Yover (rancher). From left to right: Iris (ophthalmologist's secretary); Dr. Isaac Lear (ophthalmologist); Bill Derr (construction foreman) From left to right: Minnie van Driver (soccer mom); Abe and Jo Band (husband-and-wife bluegrass band); Lois Price (discount store owner)

Well, the exterior is kind of plain, but that's not a bad thing--in fact, it's rather accurate. I like the interior, and am looking forward to seeing your new buildings.
-
This is a brilliant office building! It's absolutely perfect, both in the interior and the exterior. I love the chairs in the conference room, and those great elevator doors, as well as all the other neat details. The size is impressive, as well, and the tall ceilings fit in well with an office building (which often do have taller ceilings). Great work!
-
Agreed--the angular construction is great! Very nicely done!
-
I discovered it's difficult to get the lighting right for pictures in such a small area as the interior of the fish and chips stand. I'll keep trying, though. Anyone else have thoughts on my building style? Like it? Dislike it? See ways I could improve?
-
Thanks! I'll get those pictures up when I can
-
Brilliant! You've really captured the look of the vehicle perfectly! I especially love the comeuppance scene with the minifig putting the boot on the interceptor
-
Sounds like you have some good ideas--what else are you looking for? How big of an area is it, and how much do you think will be filled by what you're planning?
