Alright, time to talk about 78. Battles: Sewer This was to see where you guys as a party were. And I also realized how broken you as a group were. Four heroes capable of back row fighting. What was I thinking! It really set up the mood for who you're fighting, as well as add to the mystery of what was going on in the prison. Who are the Order Imperial? What are they doing here? Well, most of the questions got answered! I actually really miss that bigoted lieutenant. He was really one of the stand outs of the quest. Prison Part of me really wanted to make a reference to "Giggle at the Ghosties", but couldn't find a place to put it. The old bait and switch tactic! As much as I love the Shadow Sisters, and as complex their characters are, I had to bring Gus, Ivan, and Geoffrey back. I like throwing characters from other storylines in to quests that may or may not be relevant. It was great to bring back the hitch hiking trio, and I hope those who were 61 got a kick out of it! This was probably my favorite battle of 78, and probably my best battle period! I now understand why Endgame loves the hex effect so much! Mess Hall I like the mechanic, but I feel as if the battle ended too quickly. Not your guys fault at all. You guys just so happened to have Sorrow with you, who I now know is someone I'm going to have to shut down somehow in the foreseeable future. It's a shame the Iron Knuckle never got to use her specials. I really wanted her to be an intimidating, powerhouse of an enemy. Ah well, there's a;ways next time. Overall: I'll admit, the pacing was... weird. I felt I rushed you guys all over the place. I felt I left you guys open enough to do stuff, but I felt like an owner yanking a dog on a chain, and the party was the dog. That being said, I like the moments where I did just let you do your thing. There was literally tons of stuff you guys could have done in Costello's lab, but somehow you guys only managed to find a small amount of the stuff. I'm glad you did find the book though. The Shadow Sisters were fun, and so were the Hitch hiking ghosts, and I feel as if the quest got better as things rolled along. Characters: It seemed 78 had the misfortune of picking up the moment C.A.T. started, and the role playing sort of... slid. I'm not going to complain about posts where the only thing was an action, since I know where the activity was going. I fully understand why, I'm just slightly disappointed at the timing of the quest. No offense, Sandy if your reading this, your doing a great job, it's just it seems everything stopped the moment C.A.T. started. Em: I was right in choosing you as party leader. You dished out loot well, you kept the party in order, and you kept to Em as a character! I love Em's quietness! His explosion in front of Costello was great! I love seeing what's going on in Em's head! His thoughts trailing back to the Stealer, I love it all! Keep up the great work, and it was a blast hosting you again. Elgar: Elgar provided an interesting perspective on the quest, seeing as how he was also on 71. You were active, and honestly that's the best I can ask for. Your interactions and caring attitude came in on many occasions, and I really like Elgar as being a hero who actually tries to benefit other people, and not just try and force some unnecessary broody back story because he needs to make himself a bad megablocks. You were a blast to host, and I hope to see you again! Grimwald: You did a good job! You were active, had great interactions, and you kept with your fear! More heroes need to have a weakness, and Grimwald's fear of ghosts and the undead is both plausible and very realistic. It makes Grimwald more realistic and believable as a character, and that's something I appreciate in both a roleplayer and a character. Job well done! Sorrow: Sorrow really went through the most this quest. He's realized he could potentially lose his hand, he begins to question his age, and he didn't kill Lydia. That said something as a character. He took what happened with Violetta and learned from it. He was broody, but not to the point of being boring. He has some optimism, and I like that. I could keep going on, but I don't want to sound like I have favorites because I honestly don't. Job well done! Thanks to everyone who participated, you were a great team, and I hope to host you all again soon! And yes, Comstock is the Arc's big bad. And he is one Big Bad.

79: Fading Spark It was good. The battles and loot were good, and so were the NPCs, a fun, simple quest that's beginning the end. I like that you decided to focus on reinforcing character traits rather than try new things with the heroes. Sometimes treading old ground is just as important as treading new ground, as it solidifies characters and helps create focus. It's something I may wind up doing in an upcoming quest actually. You're battles were of your high standard and high difficulty, and it was finally good to get in one, because as much as I love 70, I really wish we could have gotten something besides the curb stomp with Brier. The Oculoids I think were effective as villains. Using a characters past as a means to emotionally damage an enemy.is a really neat idea. I thought it was good, but maybe when it comes to my quests, I've been a bit pampered, so in any case, job well done! I'll have my overview of 78 in a bit, so feel free to talk about it if you want.

Heroica RPG- Quest #78: As Thick As Thieves
Kintobor replied to Kintobor's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Very well then lads. I'll send a good word in for all of you to the Zeigfrieds." Connor looks down the road in the direction of the city. He looks back to the party trying to give somewhat of a smile. "I'll be seeing you around." Connor makes his way down the road, walking against the rising sun. Costello clears his throat. "Best we sneak in and see my brother. Knowing him he's either stayed up all night or got up an hour ago." The party makes there way across the grounds and up to the Watt Manor doors, Costello opening them with a key he removes from his coat. The party quietly makes their way upstairs to Abbot's study, the door ajar. Costello walks in with the party to find Abbot looming over some maps and other baubles. "Brother." "Abbot." "I missed you, Cos." The two brother's embrace, patting each other on the back. "Jeez, it's only been three months." "Only three months! In those three months I've found the discovery of a lifetime." Abbot turns to the party, a look of nostalgia about him. "Thank you, heroes. It seems not only is your organization incredibly handy in battle, but also in sleuthing! 150 gold and a bottle of Ambrosia from the manor's personal cellar. I believe it was a good year too." "Abbot, there's more to this story you should know. I fill you in later, but right now, I want to show you this." He motions for Em to bring the tablet forward and place it on the table. As he does so, Abbot's eyes light up. "Moon elf script!!" "Indeed. Just looking at it now, the carvings appear to be some sort of hymn, or a song. However it cuts off in a peculiar place." "Heroes, I'm not sure how familiar you are with history, but I was actually reading some old paladin texts and one specifically brought up three knights who after the sinking of Moone took three "keys"and went there separate ways. Of course, no one knows where these keys are, but the images accompanying the text included three tablets. I'd bet my life that this tablet is one of the keys! We're getting close to opening that vault door! All we need now are the other two and we're on our way! Heroes, I can't thank you enough! I'll have to go down academic lane again to find some evidence linking events to the knights, but we're in the clear!" "I think I'll stick around here for now. I'll look into this Order Imperial as well. It would be wise to watch yourselves heroes. I think the worst is yet to come." THE QUEST IS SUCCESSFUL!!! All heroes gain Zeigfried reputation!! -The Party- Name: Unknown. Most call him "Em," though his real name remains largely mysterious. -Party Leader- Unknown age male human ranger Level 14.5 Power: 23 SP: 2 Health: 16/21 Gold: 285 Equipment: Aquabow (WP: 7, Water-elemental), Anniversary Medal (Artefact/Accessory) (Power +2, SP +2, Max. I, Karie Alderflask (Kintobor), accept Sargaent Jon McEncy (Pyrovisionary) challenge to a duel!
-
Karie stands up from her chair. "Very well then, Sarge-san, I accept your challenge, and I await you in the ring. If your not intoxicated enough to find it." The irony being I don't know where the ring is... Karie got up and left the saloon, her purple cape billowing behind her.
-
"And by one hundred blokes do you mean unarmed civilians, or men wielding pointed sticks?" Karie smiles sarcastically.
-
"Eh, well... I'm kinda sorta somehow related to the Wolfgang... kinda..." Karie sheepishly looks around, hoping no one was listening in. She leaned inwards towards Benji. "My... uh... sister was... one of the higher ups... or something..." Karie groans. "What, as in now! I just walked in the hall door for petes sake! Ugh, give me a few, I want to finish talking to Benji. However, seeing as how you're more than slightly intoxicated, I will accept your challenge shortly (since you'll fall to the floor before I even land a hit)." Karie realized she was probably in over her head, but she thought the fight would get her mind off of things.

Heroica RPG- Quest #78: As Thick As Thieves
Kintobor replied to Kintobor's topic in The Heroica Archive
Lydia hesitantly grabbed the essence and chugged it down. She slowly got up on her own and began to strip the armor off her, leaving nothing but a loose fitting shirt and a shorts. "Don't follow me out... I want to be alone..." She hobbles to the door, than begins to pick up her speed, making it to the door and out of the party's view. Had the part done the right thing? They didn't know for sure. Costello takes a moment to breath before continuing with the crank, a look of of melancholy in his eyes. Connor simply leans against the table as Costello continues. "I can see it, it coming up now! Connor, take the crank!" Connor rushes to Costello and takes over the crank as Costello rushes to the pit to retrieve the item the party desperately fought for. "My word..." Costello brushes off the tablet with his hands, looking it over intently. Connor comes over to inspect it as well. The party closes in around Costello in awe at the relic. "I don't have time to translate this. We should get going. Now. Em... best you held onto this tablet." Stone Tablet- A heavy stone tablet. Multiple symbols are etched into the tablet, a carving of a creature in the center. Costello carefully cradles the artefact to Em, who takes it from his hands. Costello backs off once he does so. He says nothing but heads for the door. Connor takes one last look around. "Good riddance to this awful place..." He puts his hands in his pockets as he walks closely behind Costello, the party not to far behind. They make their way back out through the sewers and out on the road in silence. Who were the Order Imperial, and would they see them again? Just what were the three keys? And what would happen to Lydia? As the sun begins to peak over the horizon, the party makes it back to the Watt Manor. Connor begins to walk back down the road to Eubric when he turns to the party. "Well lads, thank you kindly for your help. Me and Costello would have still been in that prison if it weren't for you coming to save us. Due to my status in certain circles, I'm as close to the Zeigfrieds as one could get, so if you want, next time I see them I can send in a good word if you'd like. I understand some of you have reputations to keep with the Guild, so if you don't want it, let me know and I won't bring it up." He gives a reassuring smile.- 418 replies

"Yeah, well, it's not a name that one goes about parading you know. It's kind of got a bad rep, so I prefer Alderflask." Benji and Kayla... how were they connected? "As for why I'm here, I ran out of work back in Charis, so I came to Uland looking for work and what not. Put my pickpocket abilities back into use. Eventually that led me here." Karie grabs a bottle from an adjacent table and places it in Sarge's mouth. "Just keep pounding her into you, you scurvy son of a-"
-
Pick a name Karie, pick name... "Would you prefer Rayltyn or Alderflask?"
-
OOC: That's okay, I wouldn't sell it either. "I was raised in Charis, but born here. The name's Karie." She wasn't sure whether to add here birth name or her adoptive name. It had been a while since she found out who her sister was, but it was still troubling her.
-
"Oh. I suppose that makes sense... sort of. I was never one for the outdoors, myself." How can someone be part tree? Karie scratched her head, unsure where to take the conversation with the half tree. "So... uh, what's your name?"
-
OOC:I was commenting on Erdacath, but I can wait. If you want, I'm more than willing to buy your mask if the gender-swap.
-
Karie walks into the hall later than usual, her person still covered in ink. She stops to inspect the doors on the way in, ensure no one had abused them or kicked them. She hopped up the steps to the saloon and straight to Johon's table. "Hey. What's going on?" She looks across the table at the outlandish looking man with an alligator on his head and the... just what was she? Or was she actually a he? "I.. see you've made some new friends. Care to introduce?"

Lydia continues to breath heavily, listening to Sorrow intently. "I can't see what I've become any longer, Assassin. Your words mean everything and nothing to me. I am at the brink of death. I don't want Costello's help though... the bastard's responsible for enough misery as it is..." Lydia looks at Costello briefly before shaking her head. "I'll find my own way to regain my worth. If you feel I am still worth something, give me that phoenix essence."- 418 replies

That crazy scorpion thing.... Thanks for the Quest, Endy! I had fun! I'll have more of a response for when your done yours, but I had a good time!
-
"Sure take it, it's yours." Karie tosses Althior the Rat Queens Hide. "Now then, about these items. One of you will take the Claw, the other the Eye. I don't care who, so long as you both agree." She turns to Goldraum. "It's a long story sir." Karie just wanted to lay down and rest. She was exhausted from the days events. She hoped to never deal with the tentacled scum again, although she had a creeping suspicion otherwise.

This topic needs a boost. Anyone here know about Shezow? -
If Erdathcath is part tree, does that make her part Fluttershy as well?

Karie watched the Oculoid deflate, it's eye locking onto the party. She grabbed her arm as she witnessed the creature turn into a puddle of ooze. "I think I'm ready to leave." Karie nodded to Keolo. She was ready to be rid of this nightmare and leave the forest.
