Heroica: Glory Amongst The Stars - General Discussion
Kintobor replied to Waterbrick Down's topic in Heroica! The RPG!
I never thought I would be playing the snooty soccer mom demanding to speak to the manager, but here we are. -
OOC: Oof, that roll sucks. Zaria tapped her foot, looking down the car to see if anyone was watching the exchange between her and the steward. She raised her voice slightly after a sigh, hoping to draw some eyes her way and away from Soren. "Very well. I was hoping to speak to someone sooner rather than later regarding this incident, but if you can assure me that I will have the opportunity to speak to someone regarding the lighting in the economy car I would appreciate it. I will ask that you at least inform someone in engineering as soon as possible about this. First our tickets were stolen and now faulty lighting in the economy car: personally I must say that I am somewhat disappointed in the service aboard your train, as much as it pains me to say. I do not enjoy informing my social circle of a bad trip, especially one advertised as luxuriously as yours."
-
Zaria shook her head. "No no, there was a flash, with the intensity of a setting sun, like a searchlight, that struck me while resting in my car. I was informed someone in engineering would know more, and I wish to speak to them about it as soon as possible." Zaria crossed her arms, waiting for the steward's response.
-
Zaria frowns, annoyed at the amount of eyes on her and Soren. "Blast. We are not going to be able to get in without causing a scene." The wheels in Zaria's head turned until finally an idea popped into her head. "What I am about to do is either going to be incredibly successful or make me look incredibly foolish. I have only had to use this invocation on a few select occasions, but we all must journey down the path's we take with our heads held high, and conviction in our hearts." Zaria was about to commit one of the most sacred of acts, a decision the faithful of Varuth do not take lightly. She approaches the stewardess, swelling with determination. "Stewardess. I would like to make a complaint. Immediately. With whom do I direct my dismay towards regarding the lighting situation on this train?"
-
"I figured as much." Zaria comments, furrowing her brow. Even as a child, locks always eluded her, impeding her travels. "You wouldn't happen to have anything to make this door open, would you, Soren?"

Heroica: Glory Amongst The Stars - Rules & FAQ
Kintobor replied to Waterbrick Down's topic in Heroica! The RPG!
So, in Heroica Fantasy perma-death was not a thing except for one instance where it was, and that was a specific quest: Chaos Comes to Eubric. There was an in universe relic that made it so if a hero fell in combat, they were not killed. Heroica: GAtS does not have this feature. I think perma-death is a bit harsh a term. You can bring the character back, they simply lose all equipment, items, and credits. What is the ruling on keeping a character dead and creating a new character? Do you keep your build and gain a new starting gear package? -

Heroica: Glory Amongst The Stars - Rules & FAQ

I can agree with that. I'll then ask, if someone is stabilized can they be brought back to 1 HP if they take any sort of healing spell or healing item? -
"If our tickets were stolen at Parous, it is possible it was made in an attempt to keep us off the train. ...Agreed. If that cube goes missing this train will be scoured top to bottom and they will catch onto our actions by the authorities at Con'Stop. We will have an impossible task on our hands should such an event happen." Zaria follows Soren into engineering.
-
"To find that drone." Zaria replies. "If the steward is unaware of such a device then it is not part of the train's general functions. If it is slipping under doors, and moving up through the train, then it is moving into engineering or the engine cab, and I do not like the outcome of either option. When I was alone in the economy car I saw a large light, like a searchlight hit the windows. I think something is tailing the train."

MM Note: You are correct. I don't know how I did that, but the information you received is still correct: you got the info needed for getting one successful roll.

Heroica: Glory Amongst The Stars - Rules & FAQ
Kintobor replied to Waterbrick Down's topic in Heroica! The RPG!
So, as a suggestion, what are people's thoughts on bleeding out? If you do not get up within three turns your character dies? -
MM Note: I know there was talk of making some tweaks to Spirit regeneration, and I know an updated rule book is coming down the pipeline very shortly, but for the time being I will return you to full health. You had time to rest on the bus ride over. Merei Perception Check (DC: 1,3): (2,4,6) Two Successes A closer inspection of the building warrants some interesting discoveries. The trellis is close enough to windows and balconies on the upper floors that one could, in theory, climb up the trellis and jump onto the balconies of the floors above. Looking along the condo's wall further, a lone camera stares at the party's direction, connected to the building. It seems to track their movement.

Zaria trusted the steward's word. She decided not to push the steward too much on any particular topic, not wanting to start a scene. She turned to Soren, speaking quietly. "You would not happen to have any ideas on us moving into engineering, would you?"

The greaser slumps to his knees on the floor, his paleness and sweating beginning to pass, but still too much in shock to get up. Flo watches their departure, nodding to them as they leave as she sweeps broken glass from the floor. The ringing of a bell attached to the door marks their exit from the Red Comet diner as they catch a bus and head east and lower into the city towards Melbrook Heights. --- Taking an eastbound bus, the heroes soon come to understand that the city is as vast as it is deep, as the bus descends lower into the city. Buildings are stacked upon buildings, and as the bus takes them deeper into Cosmopoli's bowels, the city is lit less in the bright pale light of the moon and more by neon lights and harsh yellow street lamps. Coming to their stop, the heroes step off and come to Melbrook Heights a few minutes of walking later, a five story condominium complex built on top of a warehouse. Built on top of the condominium is another building, and on top of that building appears to be another, and on it goes until it reaches the city's heights. The sounds are amplified in the lower levels, as sputtering engines of speeders and the occasional heckle or shout bounce off the metal and concrete jungle the heroes found themselves in. Melbrook Heights seems lucky enough to have a small lawn of astroturf, the green lawn looking somewhat unnatural in and among the city sprawl. A door into the complex lay before them, making it look more like a warehouse than a place of dwelling. A large iron fence sprawls up the building to the fifth floor, once like populated by plants, it is now barren. To the left a notice in holographic lights up the other side of the wall: "VACANT CONDO FOR RENT: APPLY INSIDE". What would the heroes like to do?

OOC: Sorry, I meant for the insight check to apply for the steward's statement. I should've been more clear.
-
The greaser nods his head erratically. "Y-y-yeah, alright, you won't see me around here again, I promise! J-just don't hurt me..." His voice trails off into a whimper.

Zaria nods her head, taking in the steward's statement but curious about it at the same time. She takes a moment to see if there was anything that looked or sounded off through insight.
-
"That still does not take into consideration the drone which made its way through here. As much as I understand wanting to return to baggage, we are better off figuring out where that drone is." Zaria looked forward towards the door to engineering and then back down to the door leading to the dining car, unsure if it stopped her or continued forward through the train. She takes a moment to look through the Business car, looking for the drone.
-
OOC: It's all good. "Then why do I hear thrusters between the Economy and Dining car, above the train?" Zaria asked. "Are there any other access point on the train besides the doors on the sides of the train cars?"
-
Looking out at the speeder through the window, Merei believes that it could likely fit two people, one driving and a second sharing the large, scuffed and beaten up seat. That being said, public transit was easily accessible and free, so there likely wouldn't me much of an issue in arriving together at Melbrook Heights at different times. MM Note: I'm just waiting to see if CMP wishes to do something and then I'll move this along.

Heroica: Glory Amongst The Stars - General Discussion
Kintobor replied to Waterbrick Down's topic in Heroica! The RPG!
Couple of things to note: Increasing your Strength to 3 does not give you an increase in Vitality, it's every even number in Strength give an increase in Vitality (so on two, four, six, eight, so on). You can still use Calibrated Energy weapons, it just opens up the possibility of using Calibrated Kinetic weapons. It depends on whether you want to use Kinetic weapons or not. Increasing Long Range proficiency to 3 isn't a bad call if you want Asyu to focus on being a back line combatant, but increasing Spirit by 2 by spending two build also wouldn't be a bad call, giving you access to some more actions in combat like Healing Light or Mystic Binding with your proficiency point in Nature. Increasing Nature to two also wouldn't be a bad call if you want to focus more on spell casting. Bottom line, there's lots of option, and none of them at this stage are really bad. -
Zaria clears her throat and speaks to the steward. "If you don't mind me asking, how does the train propel itself forward? Are there any thrusters involved?"

I feel like designating somewhere on your character sheet stats (such as "gained +1 coding from Mission #__") works. I look at it less like the experiences you got on the mission gave you the increase in a proficiency and more like the mission giver trains the PC to increase their proficiency, sort of like how in Skyrim you can pay trainers to increase your skills.
