"Alright, new plan. Yelana, I need you to rally Soren. I'm going to put up an interposing ward between Soren and our enemies. Soren, just shoot stuff and do not fall, yeah?" Zaria invokes an Interposing Ward on Soren.
-
OOC: Your plan includes a lot of "possibly". I highly doubt you're going to hit both Slice and Crunch in the formation you suggest based on how WBD ruled the last time you succeeded. Also, if you fail, and you get under three successes, you're potentially hitting Soren which would drop him. I'd prefer everyone to be up and present for the end of combat. "I do not take orders from you, Yelana. Focus on protecting Soren and moving into a more advantageous position."
-
"Yelana, you are correct: Soren does not get to make that call. I do. We can deal with Pierce once we have this situation handled. For now, Soren needs to be up and functional. Either heal him, or defend him."

The group all enter into the warehouse at the same time, although from different entry points: Mirai pokes her head up from a grate in the floor, Bers enters through the front doors, and Yissam♥ and Kirwin both enter through the side door. Merei lifting the grate up puts her a mere foot or two from a great hound the size of a horse, it's grey, shaggy fur covering a mass of muscle and girth. Long claws arm it's paws and a row of sharp, yellowing teeth line it's mouth. The beast seems occupied in a large shank of meat, it's dagger like teeth ripping into it with ease, like tearing apart a piece of paper. The creature turns to Merei. "Garrrruuu." The canine growls at Merei before turning back to it's large cut of meat, seemingly more interest in it. From where Merei is she can see a collar around it's neck, from which a name tag dangles. It reads "Bella". The rest of the group notices a large, sporty looking blue speeder taking up most of the space in the warehouse as it levitates off the ground silently. Tools and mechanical supplies litter the ground and the hood of the speeder. From a raised platform where Kirwin and Yissam♥ stand, they notice a work bench with a computer and a grimy waste bin. The smell of oils and sweat linger in the air, with Merei getting a whiff of the sterile smelling canine shampoo from her current position.

"No." Zaria states. "That canister won't hit any of them. We need to go on the offensive: now! Yelana, defend Soren. I'll handle the O'Kor'Uk." Zaria moves to G2 and strikes Slice.

Heroica: Glory Amongst The Stars - General Discussion
Kintobor replied to Waterbrick Down's topic in Heroica! The RPG!
We had a very lengthy argument during game development on communication technology, and the consensus we came to was that if you guys had access to that kind of technology, it would kill the mood of missions, so we opted to just not have it in the setting. -
Yissam♥ Stealth Proficiency Check (DC: 1): (2,3,4) One Success Yissam♥ manages to skirt past the thugs as Bers' conversation with them escalates. Taking a moment to investigate the wooden fence, Yissam♥ can see an impromptu parking lot through a slim gap in the fence. A few speedercycles levitate off the ground, but of note is a large, bulky space speeder designed similarly to a truck, with a large flat area behind the cab with a winch system connected to it. Mirai Insight Proficiency Check (DC:3): (1,5,6,6) Three Successes Despite being unable to directly see the conversation taking place, Merei gets a feeling that if things continue the way they are, there could very well be violence between both parties, with the lithe, boyish voice sounding more likely to make the first move, sounding more calm and focused than the gruffer, aggressive tone of the other person. The latch above her is not locked, and can be pushed open. Kirwin can easily communicate with Merei through the vent, able to see her shadowed person, looking up, seemingly at a way out of the cramped space. With this knowledge, though, it is possible a conversation at this range could echo into the room above. Bers Intimidation Proficiency Check (DC: 3 / 4): (3,5,6,6+1 Success) Four Successes The group is taken aback by Bers' display of aggression, the large biker shrinking ever so slightly after his call for violence is intensified by the borrowed AV Rig. "Now hold on there, friend!" The large biker replies, putting his hand between him and Bers. "If you want to go inside and settle some score, by all means I'll let you in. Just don't touch anything, alright? Sheesh." The bikers move out of Bers' way, allowing him to pass them. Cassidy speaks up as Bers reaches the doors. "Oh, and don't mess with Bella. She'll rip your arm clean off if you're not careful." Will Bers proceed inside?

Mission 4, I'll have an update shortly. I was just about ready to send it out earlier today, until the scheduled one-hour power outage I was notified of last week and forgot about reared it's ugly head, and I lost most of my progress. -
"If you are going to try and suggest that I am capable of levelling your rifle as you aim for a very specific point, think again. Either readjust your plan to keep Soren and I out of a potential blast, or follow my lead and fire at the Menahi!" OOC: As Duvors stated, you cannot rally a Proficiency check, and this has been ruled as one. If you want to readjust your proposed strategy and keep Soren and I away from a blast, then sure, I'm willing to try it out. I'm still going to either Defend or Warding Bond Soren though to ensure he doesn't get blasted if the canister explosion hits us.

Kirwin Technology Proficiency Check (DC: 2): (2,3,4,4,4) Three Successes Prying the electric panel open and going straight into the wiring of the door, Kirwin manages to physically override the door's lock, a clicking noise signifying the disengaging of the lock. Crawling through the vent, Merei finds her vision deterred by stretches of blackness, light from the vent ceiling shining through various grates along the roof of the vent, and subsequently the floor of the warehouse above. The floor of the vent is greasy from engine oils and cleaning chemicals, creating a heady smell probably not wise to linger in. Merei can hear a number of sounds from above. The most prominent is a slobbering, snapping sound of something large above her. The shadow of the large shape blocks light from the vents above her. More distant sounding, Merei can make out the sounds of an argument taking place between two people, seemingly beyond the room above her. "Ridiculous, utterly ridiculous! You walk into my warehouse and make demands of me, child? I refuse to hand over the car." A gruff, guttural voice echoes out. The sound of heavy metal follows, as if someone is pacing with a heavy prosthetic leg. An agitated sigh follows from a second person, their voice sounding masculine, but lithe, almost boyish. "Mr. Carvrac- you don't mind that I refer to you as mister? Mr. Carvrac, my employer has been quite clear about the terms they are offering you. Either you take the proposed amount of credits for the car and it's contents, or I take the speeder and it's contents by force. Are you going to agree to these conditions, or are we going to have a problem?" The pacing stops. "If your employer wants that briefcase so bad, they can wait in line for the bidding to begin just like everyone else. Didn't your employer ever hear of the phrase "finder's keepers?", eh? What do I look like, a pencil pusher you can make threats to, eh?" The boyish voice laughs. "I don't make threats idly, Mr. Carvrac, and my employer didn't seem to either when they hired me for the job. One way or another, I am getting that speeder. What you have control over is whether or not you leave this conversation with a heavier purse... or in a body bag."The boyish voice turns cold, emphasizing their threat. Merei comes to the end of the tunnel, finding a latch that leads upwards. Does she proceed up?

I have a lot to say regarding Mission 4, but I'll agree: you guys have been a blast to host. -
Kirwin Coding Proficiency Check (DC: 3): (2,3,3,6) One Success Kirwin takes a moment to try and unlock the electric security panel keeping the door closed, but finds no luck in unlocking it. Kirwin Engineering Proficiency Check (DC: 2): (2,2,3,3,6) One Success Looking over the container attached to the wall, Kirwin takes a moment to try and figure out if they've seen something like this before to no avail. Kirwin cannot recognize the device, nor figure out what it's use is. Opening the double doors of the hatch and peering inside, Merei notices a tunnel which leads down and directly under the warehouse. Where it leads to from here is a mystery, but it's dark, dusty, and home to a few small cobwebs. Bers Deception Proficiency Check (DC: 1): (3,3,4) One Success The large bearded biker's eyes squint hard, trying to read Bers. Crossing his arms, the biker frowns. "Well, I don't know about no bike, but someone did show up here a few minutes ago looking to talk about something special we recently acquired." The biker with the shaggy hair speaks up. "The boss is pretty happy with Sid and Mel. You can go tell them he thanks them for providing more than he initially anticipated."

MM Note: Well, you could certain use deception here, as you are trying to deceive the thugs that you "fit in". I'll allow it to keep things moving along. Bers Deception Proficiency Check (DC: 2): (2,4,5) Two Successes The three gang members turn their attention to Bers, looking at each other somewhat confused, but intrigued by the adamite's arrival. The stand up to address him, their heavy metal music mixing with Bers' rap to create a cacophony of noise that is grating to the ears. He'd seemingly gotten the biker's attention. "Wow, wow, wow. Cassidy, do we know this guy?" The elven woman responds with a shake of her head. "I cannot say we have." Cassidy snorts failing to contain a chuckle. "Fellow thugs... I can't tell if you're in the wrong neighbourhood or have balls of steel... figuratively speaking. I mean-" "Enough talk about his junk!" The grizzled looking biker shouts. He stepped closer to Bers, sizing him up. He was tall enough to rival the adamite's height. "What brings you around these parts, fellow thug?" A sarcastic bite punctuates the biker's sentence as he glares Bers over, his left eye squinting. Merei Stealth Proficiency Check (DC: 1): (1,4,4) Two Successes Kirwin Stealth Proficiency Check (DC: 1): (4,5,6) Three Successes Merei and Kirwin manage to successfully skirt around the thugs as they're preoccupied with Bers, able to comfortably stand within range should they need to move to Bers' defence. The side of the warehouse is littered with crates and junk left haphazardly about. A container of curious yellow liquid is strapped to the wall, it's contents bubbling away. A set of stairs lead up to a rusting metal door, next to which appears to be an electric panel of some kind. It's fairly apparent that the door leads directly into the warehouse. Built into the wall is what appears to be a chute covered by metal doors. Where the chute leads isn't immediately apparent. Merei Perception Proficiency Check (DC: 1,3): (1,3,5) One Success Peering into the warehouse window, Merei can make out a blue speeder through the dusty windows, various tools and supplies left around and even on the hood of the vehicle. Squinting her eyes, however, Merei notices a shape behind the car: something large and grey. It's hard to make out what it is due to the griminess of the windows and the poor lighting in the warehouse.

Zaria's armour takes most of Crunch's attack as she makes a defensive swipe with her Khopesh to keep the Menahi at bay. "I want you two focus firing on Crunch! Soren, stand you're ground! Varuth's divine guidance will protect you from harm." Zaria evokes an Interposing Ward on Soren.
-
OOC: Zaria's vitality should be at full. The battle was turning in their favour. Zaria could feel it. "Soren! On me! We're taking out this sorceress. Yelana, move into position and fire on the O'Kor'Uk!" Zaria swings her khopesh at Pierce.

I understand you guys wanting to see the location before committing to the plan, so allow me to take you there. Thanks for your patience! As the party makes a few suggestions regarding how they intend to proceed, another bus arrives, stopping before the curb and opening it's doors to the heroes. Stepping onto the crowded bus and finding seats, the party descends lower into the depths of Cosmopoli. --- After waiting for their stop, the party signals the bus to stop and get off yet again. The layer of the city here is dark, with everything covered in a layer of grime and dirt. Neon lit signs in windows illuminate the seedy area, as sounds bounce and echo around them. Descending down a public elevator, the party quickly finds the Wings of Fury warehouse Sid described, capable of getting a good look at it from a safe distance. The club warehouse is a distressed building made of stone and rusting iron perrched on top of an old, monolithic tower made of curious, pale tan stone with alien looking etching and markings:. The ancient tower stuck out against the cold metal and blinding neon, like it didn't belong in this modern metropolis. Despite the size of space around the lot, only a few speedercycles hover in the lot. A small group of thugs loiter around a rotting park bench listening to loud music and eating pizza out of a grease stained box, laughing and shouting over it. They are all armed. The building does appear to have a side entrance protected by a wooden fence topped with barbed wire. It's hard to see from most angles: the party would have to get closer to the building to identify any protection.

Zaria regained her position after being repulsed. She scowled at her inability to repel the Menahi off the train. "Focus your fire on Crunch or Pierce, you two! I need to heal!" Zaria heals herself with a plasma potion.

"Failed? I don't even know what's going on?" Uliz crosses his arms and reclines in his seat. "Now, if you're done berating me, get out." The heroes step outside of Melbrook Heights and out onto the sidewalk, the sounds of the city echoing at this depth. It might be a few minutes before a bus arrived. A hover ambulance was parked outside the condominium, it's red and blue lights casting colour into the shadows of the recesses of buildings. MM Note: To sort of get an idea of how you intend to proceed, I'd like to direct the conversation a little. How do you intend to approach the motorcycle club? Stealth? Deception? Just go in guns blazing? I'd like to know so I can prepare a little in advanced.

I will have an update up for Mission 4 a little later tonight. We're reaching the climax very quickly! -
Zaria growled as she grappled Crunch. "Yelana, we are not blowing up that tank! I will not put Soren in danger!" Zaria shouted. "I need your help!! Follow my lead and fire your rifle at Pierce!"

So, Engineering is the operation and construction of larger machines (think mechanical engineering and construction equipment) and knowledge regarding practical sciences. Technology is the operation and construction of small machines (such as cameras and drones) and knowledge regarding theoretical science.
