  1. And considering that this is Disney's second time partnering with LEGO since earlier in this decade, when they had the Fabuland-esque Mickey Mouse sets. For now, I agree, SpongeBob (don't forget to capitalize the B in Bob next time) is finished. I do hope that the Toy Story sets sell just as well as any other successful licensed theme. The way I see it, maybe when the LEGO/Disney partnership ends in 2012 or later, maybe they might pick up Nickelodeon for a second time, unless another licensing deal breaks the cycle, like one from Cartoon Network, or Universal Studios. LEGO probably learned from licensing products, that some licenses are hits (like Star Wars and Indiana Jones), some are duds (like Speed Racer, LEGO Sports NBA Basketball, Lego Sports NHL Hockey) and some were in between (like SpongeBob SquarePants, Spiderman, Batman, Harry Potter). To sum it all up, licensing LEGO products has many perils and promises.
  2. I would like to see a modernized version of the LEGO Divers town subtheme, with coral reefs, submersibles, an undersea laboratory with x-ray machine, and microscope, an expedition boat, a surface laboratory with helipad, crane, and x-ray machine, a pontoon boat with x-ray machine, a raft, sharks, sawfish, stingrays, octopusses, shipwrecks, and a whale skeleton. The minifigs found in these sets are scuba divers, sub drivers, boat captains, and in one set, a helicopter pilot. Imagine some modernized versions of these sets: I have been fascinated by these sets ever since I first laid my eyes on them in the summer of 1997. I have all of the Divers sets, except for 1782, 2871, 6560, and 6599.
  3. LEGO Disney/Pixar Toy Story being released January, Twenty-Ten, WOW! I really hope to see sets based on Andy's bedroom, Sid's bedroom, Al's Toy Barn, etc. That would rock! To infinity...and beyond! ♪ The toys are back in town! ♪ Toy Story quote of the day: Little Green Alien: Thanks for saving our lives! You are eternally grateful! I also hope to see yellow-orange become a more common color (the color which was commonly used on those little Belville dinner plates), as well as purple, lime green, sky blue, dark brown, and dark red.
  4. I agree! They should just reduce the price to $39.95, or something like that. They need to realize that the movie bombed. I would like to see an updated Star Wars Episode I Podrace set, before they discontinue Star Wars in 2011. That would rock! Like I said before, the Disney license is not new, and that it is a second attempt, only after the short lived Mickey Mouse sets from 2000-2001. Hopefully they'll make some great sets, that will utilize rare pieces, and different building techniques.
  5. It is possible that the Nickelodeon license will end and be replaced by a 2nd run of Disney. Ferrari might end, too, being replaced by Ben 10. On a side note: (I can't believe the Toys "R" Us in Green Bay, Wisconsin, my home town, still has some Speed Racer Movie sets on clearance...for $59.98! They're just sitting there on the top shelf, over 20 Speed Racer Grand Prix sets collecting dust on the top shelf, long after the license was discontinued! Talk about undersold!)
  6. As you can tell from this picture, Woody is in fact, taller than Buzz Lightyear. If LEGO were to make Buzz Lightyear in minifig form, they could use short legs to depict Buzz as being shorter than Woody. Woody's legs could be standard light blue-colored minifig legs with a printed belt, belt buckle, gun holster, and cowboy boots. Jessie's legs could be printed with cow spots, similar to Woody's vest. The Prospector's hat would be a black "Johnny Thunder" hat, positioned so that the fold faces the front. Bullseye would be a standard brown horse modified to have the cartoony look found in "Toy Story 2." Buzz Lightyear's helmet would either be an Insectoid mask, or a completely new piece altogether. Toy Story quote of the day: Woody: You actually think you are the Buzz Lightyear? ...And all this time I thought it was an act! Hey guys, look! It's the real Buzz Lightyear! Buzz Lightyear: You're...mocking me, right?! Woody: No, no, no. BUZZ LOOK, AN ALIEN! Buzz Lightyear: Where?! Woody: Ah ha ha ha ha!
  7. I obviously love Pepsi, since I used it's logo as my current avatar, as well as one of my userbars. "The Choice of a New Generation" I like their new "smiling" Pepsi Globe. The squiggly "e" in "pepsi" honors the classic Pepsi Globe that came before it. The Pepsi globe has three variants: Pepsi (medium grin), diet Pepsi (small grin), Pepsi Max (big grin/laugh).
  8. Just to inform you, Klaus-Dieter, here in the Usited States of America, we also have the Mardi Gras celebrations in New Orleans, Louisiana, our equivalent of the Carnival celebrations, as well as many parades for different times of the year, including the , famous for big balloons of different cartoon characters and sponsored by Macy's Department Stores.
  9. Yes, I know, it is tough, with the economy the way it is. Of course they want to license more TV shows, movies, etc., to try and kill their rival, Mega Bloks. I think that LEGO should reconsider their own themes, and not go on a licensing spree. Let's see how this plays out. Everyone has a right to an opinion, and you make a pretty forceful one. LEGO really has sold its soul to licensing. It's commercialism at its worst. Although I do agree with everyone else that most of the pieces will be quite useful for us JFOLs, TFOLs, and AFOLs.
  10. I saw this set at my local Toys "R" Us last Friday. It costs $59.99 USD. It looks cool! I hope to buy this when I get payed.
  11. This is a great review! I really hope that you can review the alternate model, as well.
  12. I've seen the first two Toy Story movies. I'm guessing this one will be great, too! I like those movies! I also might like the LEGO sets. Hopefully, the sets will utilize lots of bright colors in different shapes, including some rare pieces. Toy Story quote of the day: Woody: YOU ARE A CHILD'S PLAYTHING!!! Buzz Lightyear: You are a sad, strange little man.
  13. Even worse: ENLIGHTEN, a Chinese-made LEGO rip-off! I'm glad LEGO destroyed most of them. They were the cause for brand confusion in many foreign countries. I've seen a few on eBay. Two words: ENLIGHTEN sucks! They are worse than both Best Lock and Mega Bloks. (or should I say "Mega Blokes.")
  14. ...at least they still have the old cowboy hat!
  15. I'm thinking the wooden pieces you're talking about are the log walls, 19 of which were used in a LEGO Vikings fortress set, as well as three in the LEGO SpongeBob SquarePants Hospital Emergency Room set.
  16. Here's some pieces I'd like to see in the new Western sets: A cow skull, which can appear in any of the sets: Stick two of those cow horns into the studs of this: A gold prospector's hat: Set ideas: Western Showdown - Includes Sheriff and Bandit minifigs, guns, safe, money, dynamite, sign with wanted poster, large barrel, bird, cow skull, horse and saddle. Sheriff's office - Includes Sheriff, deputy, 2 bandits, dynamite, horse/saddle, safe, 3 cups, two keys, sheriff's office, two jails with exploding walls, large barrel, safe, gold coins, revolvers and rifles, bird and cow skull. Other set ideas: Saloon Hotel Bank General Store
  17. I just hope when they make a new LEGO Western theme, that they utilize both brown and dark brown pieces, as well as minifigs that are printed on both sides. Maybe they could bring back the Johnny Thunder hat in that theme, and use it as a gold prospector hat. I would also like to see a new cowcatcher piece for a LEGO Western train. Ideas for new LEGO Western sets Bank Saloon Barber Shop Gold Mine Gold Prospector Wells-Fargo Stagecoach Fort Legoredo II General Store Legoredo Hotel Sheriff's Department Bandits
  18. I think the LEGO Disney/Pixar Cars sets might be a subtheme of the LEGO Racers theme (like Speed Racer before it), considering the fact that there are no humans in the movie, since the cars stand in for people.
  19. It's going to happen with Disney. LEGO had the Disney license (Mickey Mouse and Winnie the Pooh) in 2000, only to discontinue it in 2001. Now they are going to bring it back in twenty-ten (2010), with Toy Story, Cars, and Prince of Persia. Never say never. The odds of LEGO bringing back Spidey are 1 in 100.
  20. I like it. If they would release it to the States in 1987, the pub would have to be changed to a soda shop (although it would remain very much the same), and the set would most likely have be a LEGO Shop at Home catalog exclusive.
  21. I really REALLY wish that they would open a LEGO Store in Ashwaubenon (a suburb of Green Bay), Wisconsin, at Bay Park Square, or in Grand Chute (a suburb of Appleton), Wisconsin at Fox River Mall . I'm surprised there aren't any out here in the state of Wisconsin yet. They really need to open one at West Edmonton Mall out there in Canada, I agree. I think it would prove to be as successful as the one at the Mall of America. I hope you get a LEGO Store in Australia someday soon. It is good news. Although I wish they would open more locations in states like Wisconsin, or any other state in the Midwest. The closest locations to me are in Chicago, Illinois, and Bloomington, Minnesota. They are almost six or seven hours away, unfortunately.
  22. I liked the SpongeBob SquarePants sets, because they are based on one of my favorite TV shows, and because it introduced a lot of unique pieces in different colors, even though some of these sets have varying amounts of playability. Three of my favorites are: 3834 - Good Neighbors in Bikini Bottom, 3830 - Bikini Bottom Express, and 3830 - the Rocket Ride. I also like the cartoony feel of the LEGO SpongeBob sets.
  23. Yeah. That train was the only passenger train available at that time. I just wish I had gotten the 1992 Metroliner and Club Car back when they were re released in 2003 as LEGO Legends. I hope to find them on eBay someday. From what I saw, the Metroliner was the better train set, with the Cargo Railway (from 1997) coming in a close second.
  24. I like town, trains is a close second. The only train set I've ever owned is the RC passenger train from 2007.
