It doesn't bother me that the majority of the DC sets come with a Batman minifig. I also am not bothered that they have made a theme for the modular buildings. The fact that there was a theme or story behind it didn't take away the enjoyment of building it. Speaking of modulars it doesn't upset me that the last two buildings were smaller for two reasons. A. Not all building are the same size so it adds some variety to them when all together. B. The decrease in exterior size has more than been made up for with interior detail which I am alright with. Its not like they decreased the size and gave us a empty box like cafe corner.

Well I feel and of course it is just my opinion, that because of the popularity of the Lego Movie prices have gone up and deals and sales have become harder to come by. I also feel that the popularity has increased the number of people hoarding sets in hopes of making a profit.

I think it was mentioned but I will double down on the Lego Movie being a bad thing for longstanding lego fans. I will also add that although my kids and lets face it me as well are excited for the Lego Dimensions game it will do the same as the Lego Movie. As a dad of kids who have skylanders and disney infinity I have seen how bad the collectors come out of the woodwork for those figures and how they are released in limited quantities or locations to drive the marketplace and I fear that between thid and all of the new "fans" who are stockpiling lego as they heard about the resale on it this could get ugly. The movie has brought in so many new fans which is good for the bottom line and I loved some of the sets we got from it but I feel the prices have been going up while actual sales and deals have been going down. I don't find nearly the deals I used to find before the set came out and I feel that more and more people are buying for investment and less for enjoyment which helps drive price and limited stock. I also am not bothered by remakes of sets. There are not to many sets that I have missed but I feel bad for people that might have been to young to purchase an expensive set when they were out and now that they are older and can afford it the only way is spending 10 times the price.

2015 The LEGO Movie rumors and discussion
shaggysanchez replied to just2good's topic in Special LEGO Themes
This is what I have heard as well which falls in line with the prices of Skylanders and Disney Infinity packs so I would imagine it is correct. I know that Skylanders and Infinity are often on sale at TRU and Target so I assume these will be as well if they want to compete with them. -

This is awesome. Well done. As for the Louvre I am very interested to see multiple sets combined to create the entire courtyard. -
LEGO Star Wars 2015 Pictures and Rumors
shaggysanchez replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I don't see how you can call them wasted sets. I don't think that Lego was planning to release 6 more regular sets this year and then suddenly said no lets scrap that and make these instead. -
While I understand the $350 price I guess I would feel better about it if it came in around $299. I mean if you compare this to say the Sandcrawler I am not sure if I think it is a set worth $50 more. Granted I think this will look neater on display then the giant brown shoebox that is the crawler but I guess I just expected more for $350. I know it is hard to compare sets and that but looking at the Tumbler or the Death Star and even cheaper sets like the Ewok Village or the Slave I you have that WOW factor. I am just not getting that from this set which is troubling for me at least as I had planned to buy it but to spend $350 on something that doesn't make you immediately go Wow is something that makes you think twice. I have no issues with the set design or how it is built from what we see or the use of microfigs, I actually think it is a pretty nice looking set but it just doesn't have that woah look at that feeling. I think for me it will come down to how it looks in person, I will go to my local store on the 17th and check it and I could be blown away by the size and details that I am just not getting from these pics. I know that other sets have done that for me and maybe this one will be the same.

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion
shaggysanchez replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
You have obviously never bought a Star Wars set if you think that 2996 pcs should equal $300. The Tumbler was $200 for 1869 pcs and 2 minifigs. Sure it would be nice to have a bunch of minifigs but we have no idea what parts are inside this thing. Are there a lot of larger pieces we can't see are all the yellow lines and shield logos printed or are they stickers? All of this could raise the price of the set. -
Looks great! I have been thinking of doing this myself to sit next to my Big Ben but to also have a miniature version of my full size Tower Bridge. After seeing how well it turned out I think I will get started. I would be interested in LDD file if you are offering to get a good part list. Thanks

I picked up a 2nd Cantina last night at Wal Mart for $48.99 which was just to good a price to pass up. The sad thing is they only had one in stock and it was sold out online and at all the other Wal Marts in a 30 mile radius of me or I might have just grabbed another or two.

Double points usually fall sometime between late March or mid April. -
I picked up mine this morning from my local Lego store and even with the limit of 1 per person they expected to be completely sold out by lunch.

Seems like a steep price increase because of the dragon.

I can't say if it is 100% true or not but from what I have heard from two different people I trust is that it will be the UCS Tumbler. Granted it could turn out to be something else entirely but this is just what I was told and I have gotten solid information from this person in the past so until I hear different I will assume that is what it will be.

I own 4956 and while it has been a long time since I had it out and built it I can't for the life of me think of anything in it that should make it an expensive set to bricklink other than those 2 doors. It is a great set and if you can get it at a reasonable price you should but I would not worry about the doors if you are really against paying the price. It would be very easy to substitute the doors out with another door or even just buy two of the cheaper door and not worry about the more expensive one. The last time I built it I used a door from fire brigade as the front door anyway as it looks much nicer in my opinion you just has to modify the house a bit for the added height but it is not difficult and again looks pretty good in my opinion.

I spend quite a bit and am usually at my local store at least every other week if not more it seems. I did not get an invite but also wonder if my distance from my store played a part as it is about 30 miles from my house. I called the store and spoke with the manager and he seemed surprised I had not RSVP'd yet and was surprised when I said that I had not gotten an invitation. Luckily I got an invite from him so I will get to go but it would be nice to know what the exact criteria is. I would think I spent more than enough through the year and always fill out the surveys as well as pop in and out of the store quite often for little purchases like minifigs or take the kids to club meetings. Now to just hope that we get some good deals and it is all worth it. As others have said the one bad thing about getting an invite means that I have pretty much purchased all of the big sets that are available. I have my eye on a few things and some sets I would like to have a duplicate or three of but it will just depend on the deals available especially with some of the deals that amazon has been having of late.

It all really comes down to which mini figs you want the most from these sets to be honest. I have all four of the sets and none of them were what I would call a great building experience. I would say of the four the Artic Batman set was the best overall build. I really like the Iron Patriot fig but the rest of the set was pretty generic. I love the Jango Fett fig but again the rest of the set did nothing for me. The comanche camp would be my last choice unless you just really want the figs but even then I would wait and try to get the stagecoach at a discount as it is a much better set. The camp set was the worst of the bunch in the LR line in my opinion.

I have both the Colby City set and the Silver Mine set and while I like both if I could only have one it would be the Silver Mine. I have only the Train left to grab of the LR line and to this point the Silver Mine is my favorite of the bunch by a long shot. I would go with the Batcave first as it is a better overall set with better figs. I have both and of the two the batcave was the better build as well other than the batmobile the rest of that set is pretty generic in my opinion. Plus and lets be honest you will have nowhere to park the batmobile if you get it first.
