I have been considering doing this myself with the Falcon and some other older sets that I missed out on. If you don't mind me asking, how much do you have invested in the parts. I have seen others go this route and depending on parts that one already has as well as how dedicated one is to getting the lowest price on brickLink I have seen prices range from $300 - $900. I will keep an eye on your blog to see how the build and the arrival of the rest of your parts go.
