There was a little bit of conjecture in the Castle Army thread, so it might be a little easier to have seperate Castle and LOTR picture threads :) Just a pic or two of my current setup. I really do need to learn to take proper photos! Building UP with the Uruk-Hai Army Set instead of OUT!
TheDarkness replied to Deathleech's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
This is more to the size I am considering, but it is still some 10 bricks short heightwise and I haven't made it wide enough for an army to stand on. -
Building UP with the Uruk-Hai Army Set instead of OUT!
TheDarkness replied to Deathleech's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
A minifig scale Deeping Wall would be close to 40 bricks high. Using the Uruk-Hai Army set I have been working on a section that is about 30 bricks high, which is taller than the Horn of Helm Hammerhand. I keep altering it though as I don't like bits and want it taller, so may just try make it completely in minifig scale. It will also need to be 8-10 studs deep so you can have an army based at the top. -
Unlikely we will get all of them, however a fair amount of them have been made. All comes down to which prototype they see as marketable.

Review: 9474 The Battle of Helm's Deep
TheDarkness replied to I Scream Clone's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I sat down yesterday and completed my Helm's Deep set (along with the added Uruk-hai Army set) Pros It looks excellent Exclusive minifigs Introduces people to a Castle style theme who may never have had interest Gimli! IMO one of the best minifigs ever The door section and above - Despite the size it does look movie realistic The Rohan flag sticker - I want alot more! Armour prints on Theoden The horse Cons No Saruman hand print on the Uruk-hai armour - looking back on the film, not many had it left on their helmets or shield, but on their chestplates instead. Would have been nice to see some on these Uruks Lack of "generic" Rohan soldier - I agree with the complaints, they should have had at least one generic Rohan soldier The size- I think realistically they should have aimed for the Deeping wall to be 1-2 bricks higher. With orcs next to it it looks tiny. The Great Hall - My complaint with this is that it isn't elevated. It should be elevated to show that it is higher than the entrance point. It hides behind the entrance when really it should be able to be seen on any angle. Lack of joining of the Great Hall to the outer walls. The idea Only one Beserker Aragon could have used a different print, one that highlights the chainmail he put on from the armoury perhaps? Now I will admit I am being picky. Very picky. At the end of the day if the hand printing wasn't included on the Orc Forge set then I wouldn't think it an issue now.I would have happily paid a few extra dollars for another Rohan soldier and Beserker. I did however, enjoy building the set. It is fantastic and it does get you thinking about how you can build your castle to fortify it, as opposed to being just walls. You have key good guys to fight against a small army of bad guys. You have the exploding wall and Aragorn's leap to the causeway to enhance the playability factor. The Easter egg skull under the stairs. This definitely is one of my favourite sets for 2012. Thanks for an awesome review ISC! -
Building UP with the Uruk-Hai Army Set instead of OUT!
TheDarkness replied to Deathleech's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I'm glad others are looking at this, it is an interesting start. Having received my sets from BN, I'm currently building Helm's Deep then joining it with the Uruk army set as a guide to begin with, before making it much larger and closer to minifig scale. Whilst I won't have the tens thousands orcs used to attack, my army will be a decent size :) Deathleech, I'd love to see a picture of your current setup with all the minifigs! -
For those wanting to avoid spoilers, avoid the David Letterman show. There is a bit of an uproar over his interview with Anne Hathaway

Venom and Scarecrow! I will be very happy to get a hold of that Venom minifig. Yesterday I thought the only way would be to pay the ridiculous ebay costs for a Comic Con exclusive, only to be relieved it was a black Spidey instead (My son still really wants a Green Lantern one though ) The detail on all the minifigs though is amazing.

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion
TheDarkness replied to Piranha's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Lego continue to outdo themselves! Another fantastic looking series! -
Not so fussed on the exclusive minifigs. They look cool, but I am not going to lose sleep over not having them. I'm rather glad that the Venom minifig is basically a black Spidey. Fingers crossed we get a better one later on. Joker minifig looks cool, cannot wait to see the further Batman sets!

The Rancor looks wicked. Pretty happy with it, there is only so much they could do with the "box" style cave by making it fit under Jabba's Palace and having the gate I am assuming as a playable feature. Typically we are buying it for the Rancor, not for much more :)

I love it. So much green

Aussie sales! Share the news of LOCAL sales!
TheDarkness replied to Darth_Legois's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I stand corrected :) Fishpond deals will now be put in the other Overseas sale thread -
They don't look any different to the other Bilbo in the dwarf picture. No need to rush out and pay a fortune for it

Well Fishpond states that they are Australia's Biggest Toy Shop with an Australian domain. Of course if I am incorrect I am happy to admit it -
He looks awesome  Verry happy with that!

Buying LEGO from other countries on-line stores
TheDarkness replied to Siegfried's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
As far as I am aware it has always had the $300 RRP, but I may be incorrect. It isn't the first time Lego have jacked up prices along the way for Australians, that's for sure. -
LotR Minifigures with Different Head Pegs
TheDarkness replied to Deathleech's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Not really concerned considering most of my minifigs will have some form of headgear. I am more annoyed that we didn't two sets of hair and ears with the Mordor orcs than the different head pegs. -

TheDarkness replied to Siegfried's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I bought my first Fire Brigade at about that price, but have bought more after significantly lower. I think the reason why there is so many available was because one of the earlier lots had a bag missing, so Lego was forced to continue production on it and replace sets. -

That is around the mark I am looking at too, though doesn't this have a higher RRP? Still, some people are more impatient than I am :) -

The detail on it is awesome. I would definitely buy it if it were released! -
Just awful. My son loved the Transformer ones, but I didn't think much of them other than the Bumblebee one. These though
