  1. to razzer, no you do not need a ticket to get into the lego store. its in downtown disney, which is basically an out door mall of sorts. i go there all the time with my gf, and its just like going to a strip mall.
  2. I'm setting up the (few) western sets i have, and want to set up the good guys verus bad guys. There's one guy im not sure of, he has a white hat and an iceplanet2000 face with red shirt and brown vest. For some reason i want to call him Dan, and i feel like he is a deputy to the sheriff, does anyone know if he is definately a good guy, or just a random civilian or something...? thanks Moose
  3. Mike Jacobs is no longer a Florida Marlin, so i should win
  4. Well i always assumed it to be the samurais (guys in blue) vs muggers (guys in red) with the grey ninjas on the samurais side and the black ninjas on the muggers side. just couldnt remember what faction the other ninjas fell into
  5. The ninja sets had i believe five different color ninjas: grey, black, red, white, green. If i remember correctly, grey were the good ninjas and black were the bad ones. What side were the other colors on? Or am i totally wrong in there being different sides?
  6. Thanks for all the input. i should probably have mentioned that im not the one buying it. its going to be a gift for me, but i wanted to know if it was worth it. i didnt want someone to buy me something that would wind up being a waste. i mean i can change it to 9v which i prefer so its not too bad. that being said, its hard to come by 9v trains and accessories for cheap, so its hard to collect the 9v trains.
  7. In the movie "Big" with Tom Hanks, he is in FAO Schwartz havign a gun battle with a kid and hes creeping around a showcase, and in it very visibly are a few sets of lego. they were either fire or space, but i remember them being red
  8. I wanna convert it to 9V but the only problem is i only have the starter 9v track, 8 curved and 2 straight. so the rc track is actually bigger than my 9v. can 9v and rc tracks join together?
  9. Thanks guys i appreciate your input. another turnoff though were a couple of the minfig heads. one was peppers head and another one looked kinda stupid, but i the rest of the set appears to be excellent so i can get over a few stupid heads. does anyone know how long the remote lasts and power will last before i need to replace the batteries?
  10. Toys R Us had a sale for 7898 Cargo Train Deluxe for $119.00 but it wasn't available in the store or online. I got a raincheck and the guy said it would be available Monday or Wednesday. Should I pick it up? I'm kinda split on whether or not i want it. It seems like a nice set and it is a train set, but the idea of batteries and remote control kinda turns me off. The only other train i have is the holiday train so id like an "everyday" train. is the remote control not as terrible as i feel? should i get it? id appreciate any advice
  11. If you look at the second have of the picture, the train engine, you will notice that at thge back end of the train, the wheel set is longer - this is the motor. The other three are smaller in size and the directions should have shown how to construct those, those are the normal wheel structures on cars like a flatbed or cargo car for trains. I hope this helped

    Trains '09?

I remember awhile ago there was a release saying that all previous types of lego traisn will be phased out by 2009, at which time they will be replaced with the new (not so new anymore) power functions system. I was just wondering if there was any further information on this or when we can expect new info.
  13. I dont know how long its been available, and I dont know how much longer it will be available, but Hoth Rebel Base is on sale at toys r us. i know its been hard to get and ive been looking for it for awhile so anyone who wants one, i suggest heading over now and picking one up for $60.
  14. 20% of all LEGO CITY sets at Toys R Us October 5-11 Hoth Rebel Base Available at Toys R Us, on sale for 59.99 October 5-11
  15. thanks for the correction, i thought something seemed a little odd. more of a reason for them to have backpacks then
  16. 6241 Treasure Island What I like The mini figs are fantastic to say the least (although i wish the every soldier came with a backpack. since they are infantry, give them backpacks! hattip to mister phes for the edit) The rowboat in its new color! yum The gator/croc Cannon Again, no repeat faces What I don't like Like mister phes said, why are there teeth on the dock? I dont understand the whole dock, its very weird looking That skull piece used on top of the "cave," hideous Youve got to be kidding me with those trees The "cave" looks like a bunch of random pieces thrown together, ew The baseplate doesnt seem to fit in with this set The entire set seems as if it was designed for a much younger audience, like 4 year olds. Everything just seems thrown together rather quickly without too much thought and consideration thrown in. If not for the great figs, thered be no shot i got this set. but i'll buy it strictly for the figs, boat and cannon
  17. 6243 Pirate Ship What I like Color Scheme of the ship No repeat minifig heads SOLDIERS Shooting cannons - i never had them when i was younger New bird The fact that its a new pirate ship and i never had a pirate ship when they were around before What I don't like The face of the pirate behind the woman, its smiling - not very piratey The big shark The skull and cross bones - looks like a <insert that tiresome argument> alien The length of ship seems a little short but i could be wrong, ive never had one to compare with. Also, the front looks a little empty
  18. i meant from the older (1989-1997) pirate sets
  19. I know there's some pirate figs of old that have official names (ie Redbeard, Kahuka, Woodhouse) but there's some i don't know (Bo'Sun, Will). Could someone possibly list all the officially named figs along with pictures? thanks!
  20. no hard feelings asuka. i understand where youre coming from. and i wasnt really offended, i just wanted to respond to a previous lengthy post claiming all AFOL's were complaining regardless of home the sets would turn out. i just wanted to show that there were some who werent complaining and are actually thrilled about the line. i hope it lasts for years to come
  21. You know, i take some offense to the AFOL bashing going on here. I'm almost 21, so i consider myself to be an AFOL, and i have almost no problems with these sets. I think, while the sets have minor flaws, they are just what we needed. Just enough nostalgia to satisfy my golden year hunger, and just enough new elements to create new fun and adventure. I think the fact the sets look very similar to the old ones is good, it shows us TLG knows what we loved, and allows us to integrate them (nearly) seemlessly with our old sets. However, i don't think the soldier fort is the greatest of the forts. It is a quality stepping stone for future soldier buildings, and knowing that there are pieces to allow for modular play, i think bigger buildings/forts are on theyre way.
  22. Treasure island looks terrible, but i want because of the soldier and the guy with the beard is one of my favorite pirates to date. the other pirate aint bad either, but the rest looks extremely cheaply done
  23. I wouldnt say the ship is hideous, its just different from what were used to. It looks so very similar yet so very different from the older ships, but i cant quite put my finger on it. i really like the deep red and yellow color scheme. if anyone can figure out what i cant put my finger on as the difference, lemme know please. maybe its that some more modern pieces are included? on a side note, does the figure head have a new mold for her tail? if so, might this lead to a new faction? from my knowledge, lego doesnt make a mold for a piece that appears in one set. so maybe this new tail piece is hinting that we'll get a mermaid faction? kind of how islanders were a side, maybe the mermaids will be a new side group. i dont yet know how i feel about that idea
  24. i must say, A+ job lego. not only for the look of the sets, but for how you went about them. Just enough old pieces to remind everyone of the old sets. The design of the sets are very reminiscent of the old ones (the ship has netting positioned eerily similar to one of the older ships) enough so that the older generations will come back, and new enough for the younger generations to come in. Then once everyone is hooked, the next waves will come out. While some aspects of the set are sketchy (aka juniorish ie sharks and loot island baseplate) the overall aspect of having pirates back and the quality of the sets outweighs any downside. im going to be poorer than i already am. and with those city sets.........its going to be one mighty expensive year
  25. its free? count me in!
