  1. I just browsed TRU's lego selection online, and they had the Holiday Train listed for 89.99. Its available online only. I have the set, and its worth the 90 bucks, although i got mine for $45
  2. free is my middle name, count me in!
  3. my bad, i misread that. i was gonna say, i looked and found nothing. that makes sense then
  4. metalandi, do you have the link to brickshelf where you saw the construction sets?
  5. As the only other member to review this set (so far) let me just say great review! You showed some aspects of the set i left out (whether i did it intentionally or not :pir-skull: ) with great quality pics. Thanks for the great review. P.S. It is a very difficult set to photograph like you said
  6. I never had any old shooting cannons, but the one i got with Shipwreck Hideout seems capable of far distances. I accidentally fired the cannon in my room and it went at least ten feet at great velocity without signs of slowing down until it hit some containers right before my closet. these things could easily shoot 15-20 feet
  7. Ive been in a rebuilding mode as of late, and one set that i recently repaired is 6075 Wolfpack Tower. Heres the review: Set Name: Wolfpack Tower Set Number: 6075 Theme: Castle - Wolfpack Pieces: 232 Minifigs: 4 (counting ghost) Year Released: 1992 Price: $29.75 U.S. The front of the instruction manual, depicting the set and some additional designs: Random intstruction page: Here are the minifigs; two identical guys with brown caps, red capes, grey/black legs and same faces, one leader with black cap, black cape, black/red legs and eyepatch face: Front on view with leader blocking the entrance: West-facing view with the wolfpack twins as lookouts: Back of the tower, not much to it: East-facing view with a few additional wolfpack recruits ready for battle: Looking at the ghost locked in the tower: Oh no! The ghost is about to get loose! The "bars" of the tower's prison also double as a ladder into the towers belly: East-facing with rock wall open, revealing the spot for the treasure chest (which I forgot to include) under the walkway. It fits pretty snug in there: West-facing with rock wall lookout open, showing a little hangout area i guess. This is where the ladder comes down: Top down view into the tower: The front of the first tower. Theres no room inside this one. You can see the same piece used for the prison used again here. This one acts as a blockade so intruders cant enter and it doubles as a ladder to get to the top of the tower where theres some standing room: Here you can see the interior of the first tower and the blockade/ladder: The drawbridge lifts up so no one can enter unless the Wolfpack decides: *Price: 8/10. The price is a little steep, it should be around $23 or so. I didnt buy it though so Im not complaining! Im sure itd be very expensive today. *Minifigs: 9/10. I originally wasnt too keen on these figures, but they have grown on me mightily. And four figs for this size tower is pretty darn good. The only real complaint is that they could have had some variety insted of 2 identical guys. *Pieces: 10/10. The black corner wall pieces with grey brick are great, I wish they were still around. The BURPs look good the way they are integrated into this set. Each Wolfpack member has at least one weapon, theres a treasure chest, multiple flags, some extra weapons, 16x32 blue baseplate and an old dark grey bird. No complaints except maybe a boat could have been included. *Build: 8/10. I dont remember building this, mainly because it was my brother's years ago and he built it . But from the design it looks like it was fun. The only real complaint is that it could have been a bit bigger, or at least the front tower could have been larger to have a chair or something in a little room. If not that, the belly of the tower could have used a little more detail. *Playability: 8/10. Theres no other faction in this set, so its hard to have battles. If you have your own other factions, then its a great set. Its the main base for the Wolfpack, and numerous attacks/seiges could be staged. *Overall: 43/50 = 86. The concept of this idea is excellent - a tower in the middle of the water, so its secluded and hard to reach. This effect is pulled off excellently. This is a great set, it should just have been a bit bigger/more detailed interiors for the price. Afterall, it is the Wolfpack's main site of operations. If the rest of the Wolfpack sets would have looked like this, Lego made a huge mistake in ending their production. This set is recommended to everyone!
  8. Could an admin or someone add "REVIEW" to my title so that people know its an actual review? Thanks!

    Lego Boxes

I was striaghtening my room the other day and realized I have quite a collection of lego boxes. Theres no more room in my room for them. I'm not someone who buys sets and then sells them along with their box years later on ebay for millions of dollars, so Is there any reason to keep them? Does anyone just buy boxes on ebay? Im curious as to what some of you guys do with the boxes once you build the sets

    MOC: Speedboat

Years ago, I took apart the large boat from the great Pier Police set. Why? Who knows. But with those pieces I built this, its one of my oldest still-lasting creations, thats why its a little dusty. I hope you like it. Left Side (left and right are symmetrical): Top Down View. Theres a glass floor so that the passengers can see the water below. Theres a simple steering wheel and lever for controls: Theres a bench in the back for passengers: Boat with driver and passenger: Top Back View. Here you can see the engine and propeller: Another side view: Bottom view. Sorry for the blurriness: Size comparison with other official LEGO boats: Thats it. I'm pretty proud of this little red and black speeder, and I just can't bring myself to take it apart to rebuild the Pier Police boat. I hope you like it as much as I do.
  11. I updated the review and adjusted the pics, so hopefully they should be a little more clear
  12. to answer some questions, yes there is only one telescope in the set. and i have no idea how to properly classify the new color of the bridge. it seems tan and gold and sorta greyish almost all at once. i think its supposed to be closer to tanish to show that its made of dried out faded vines
  13. I fixed it so you dont have to click links all the time, but do i still have to fix the size since its already reduced to 80% of the original size? Ill do that tomorrow, I'm going to update my first review and then go to bed...its late, but thanks for the heads up whitefang
  14. The pics had better quality, but metalandi requested that they be bigger so i enlarged them a little so they kinda got grainy. I could always resize them again for better quality but smaller pictures if thats the general consensus. Once I get my own camera I plan on joining the Academy so I can make great reviews for everyone.
  15. I got this set yesterday from my mom as a gift for my 21st birthday. For $150 this set is a steal. Ive always wanted to create a town block/street, and this alone allows that to happen. Plus with my old firehouse from 1994 and some other buildings, I can finally start working on my dream! I think it looks great with the stickers, a lot better than it does without them. Overall, great review of a great set, I planned on making one in the future.
  16. For my second review: Set Name: XXL Mobile Crane Set Number: 7249 Theme: City Year: 2005 Pieces: 524 Minifigs: 2 Price: $50 U.S. Box front: Box with flap up: Back of box: Box contents (2 smaller boxes, and 3 bags with pics): Four instruction manuals Extra pieces of paper (a mini poster of the set and instruction corrections): Random instruction page: The workers: The cab of the mobile crane: Head on view: Interior of the cab: The workers' equipment (3 cones, blockade, shovel, and beam): No spot was shown to store the equipment, but in the back of the cab there is a large empty space, if you put the blockade in diagonally, you can lay the cones and shovel in without them bouncing around: The crane part of the vehicle: The crane with supports out, arm up, and control cockpit forward: The crane fully extended: Cab and crane connected: About to start the day's work: The leftovers: *Price: 10/10. While it seems expensive, the price per part ratio is actually 2 dollars less. *Figs: 5.75/10. The figs arent particularly bad, but theyre nothing special. Theyre your average construction workers, and for such a big vehicle there should have been at least 4 minifigs, preferably 5. *Pieces: 9/10. Theres a nice number of pieces, although some of them are quite large. You may feel as though they are <insert that tiresome argument>, but if the parts of the vehicle utilizing the large pieces were constructed any other way, the integrity of the vehicle would be compromised. I would have like some more beams or something to be constructed. *Build: 10/10. The build was very fun. Straight forward, nothing too confusing that I remember. The vehicle is designed very well. When the pin is inserted to keep the cab and crane together, you can hold the back of the vehicle with one hand without worrying about it falling apart. The vehicle looks very realistic, and its much nicer than the one coming out in a 2009 set. *Playability: 10/10. For the first couple days after I bought it, I couldnt stop playing with it. Its so much fun to roll around (while air vehicles have great swooshability, this has great roll ability) and extend the cranes arm. The string goes a full six feet or so, which is very fun to test out if you have somewhere high enough. The only problem with that is as the string extends further, it tends to get twisted. *Overall: 44.75/50 = 89.5 This set only loses major points for the minifigs. Aside from that negative, this is a great set, and I recommend it to anyone!
  17. to go along with salty tbone, i too, did not check the price per piece ratio until i had already paid for it. I found shipwreck hideout in toys r us after scanning the price of Cargo Train Deluxe. i accidentally saw a box that was tipped over and lifted it up. much to my surprise i saw a new lego pirates set staring me in the face. i immediately grabbed it and held on for dear life. i put the train back, looked to see if there were any more pirates sets, and when i discovered there werent after about 10-15 minutes, i headed for the register. when i left there was one shipwreck hideout on the shelf, begging to be bought. oh and this was in nj
  18. $39.99
  19. it took for ever but we should be good. let me know how they turn out and if theres any other pics i should take. ill try to make them bigger but ive had enough with them for one night
  20. i put them on brickshelf but the folder is not public yet. if imageshack makes them readily available ill do that too no clue what deep link means. i hope my pics are worth all this trouble
  21. how do i put more than one pic in my first post?
  22. This is a review of #6253 Shipwreck hideout. Its my first review, so I hope its decent Set Name: Shipwreck Hideout Set Number: 6253 Theme: Pirates Pieces: 310 Minifigs: 6 (if you countthe skeleton) Release: 2009 (officially) Price: $39.99 U.S. front of the box back of the box the contents of the box the instruction manual the new colored bridge a random instruction page the new blue boat! the soldiers (a little blurry) the soldiers (gorgeous new soldiers!) the great new pirates with FEMALE some special pieces, gold chest, white oar, new fish comic in the middle of instructions the inside of the cabin. theres a trapdoor under the table comic at the end of the instructions a pic demonstratng the trap door and skulls a picture showing 2 more traps. all of the traps are shown with the female pirate. she must really be evil! rest of the sets the set in its individual construction sections assembled the left overs with 2 epaulettes! final pic *Price: 9.5/10. it was a little expensive ($39.99 for 310 pieces) but not too much. for a new pirate set ill pay it *Figs: 10/10. the captain is great. the soldiers are amazing. oh yeah, theres a female pirate! i believe she has the torso from the medieval village set, and the hair from the agent girl. these figs are awesome. *Pieces: 10/10. i love the new pieces and new colors(fish, bridge, chest, boat, shooting cannon!). the only downside is the crappy mast. the new skull and crossbones isnt too bad actually *Build: 8/10. Nothing to special. It wasn't very difficult, even with taking pictures it took about only 30 minutes. Building it was pretty fun though. *Playability: 10/10. 2 soldiers vs. 3 pirates creates a number of different scenarios for raids and attacks and the like *Overall: 47.5/50 = 95. Id recommend this set to any pirate fan. at first it may seem a little <insert that tiresome argument>, but ull realize its pretty cool. the concept is great, a ship crashed into rocks, and ites executed well. The set feels a little different from old pirates, not completely different, just like its a new age of pirates and thats what it is!
  23. Added pictures to first post
  24. Im not exactly sure how to post pictures on here
  25. Awhile ago, a pirate was spotted in a Lego magazine. I just received my Jan-Feb Lego Club Magazine and on page 12, with the "Crosstown Craziness" we have more proof of the pirates coming out in 2009. On the bumper of the large green truck in the foreground is the new Pirates Logo with hearts all around it. Just thought it was worth posting Moose P.S. Along with that, on page 18 theres a troll singing the pirates song and then catches himself, saying, "whoops wrong story, nevermind."
