sadly, im not sold. i needed to see more pics, and now that i have, they didnt win me over. the new sets, not that great. squidman looks like an absolute joke. pliskin looks like more of a squid. the gold heist is pretty cool, but the only set im definately getting is hyperspeed pursuit - far and away the best of the sets. and it has the two twins, which i like the most. id like spike and four arms, so i could buy gold heist cause its the second best set, but i guess i just wont be able to get spike. sadly this line proved to be a let down P.S. I still cant get over the fact that the space police dont have full helmets. im pretty sure every other space theme had them, and this is just too much of a HUGE turnoff
-
they arent the same. the guy at the top of the pic is the cyclops dude, the helmet was seen in the impulse. the other guy is spike and has a helmet like the one russell crowe wears in gladiator; his name is spike

I just took some sets down from my attic in order to rebuild them/return some missing pieces and Extreme Team Challenge was one of the sets. A box was placed ontop of the set, so the tent got squished and crinkled. Its not ripped, which is a plus, but its hard to fold it in the propper shape to fit onto the area its supposed to sit on. I was wondering of any ironing methods that would be safe to use to not damage the sail, and so that afterwards i will be able to fold it into the proper shape. any suggestions are appreciated, as i would like to return this set to its proper form.

nice review! ive always wanted this set but for some reason never wound up with it. i need it. i have the four other similar trucks to this set: shuttle launching crew, victory cup racers, surveillance squad, and rescue rig. good old days of lego
-
yeah i had a couple posts on the name of the aliens a few pages back, i was able to decipher twin 1, twin 2, spike and i think thats it. i thought the yellow one said somethign along the lines of pliskin but i didnt think that made sense so i didnt want to type it and sound stupid
-
no no no!!!!!!!!!!!! i wanted to review this set! you beat me to it. i was in the process of putting it back together before i had to come back to school after break, but the shuttle still needed some pieces, and some of them were old and discolored. the trucks of this time were amazing, i had this one, victory cup racers, surveillance squad, and the tow truck. they were all great and looked wonderfull together. on a side note, does anyone know where i can get the stickers for this set?

anyone follow up on those names i posted earlier?

you've got a dirty mind there, hinckley. i wish we had better coverage of the event also, so i could formulate a stronger opinion one way or another, im in flux right now

In the pics of the Indiana Jones sets from the Canada Toy fair, there is a set from "Crystal Skull" of the graveyard scene. On the box is an old classic era motorcycle in red. I believe Mutts motorcycle in the movie was red, so does this mean its the final version. Are the old motorcycles returning? I hope so because the newerish ones are kinda eh.
-
In the pictures of the Indiana Jones sets, there are a few pictures of the graveyard set from "Crystal Skull." In one of the pictures there is a skeleton with the helmet the old lego spanish armada wore. Is this a sign of things to come. When lego began implementing re-issued pirate pieces in sets, it turned out there was a new pirate series in the works. so maybe these means were getting some new pirate factions?

for those of you wondering who squidman is, u might be able to find out if u do some searching. in the pics of the boxed sets, they have characters on the front; the two guys with the skull helmets are named twin 1 and twin 2, the guy in the troll outfit with maximus decimus meridius' helmet from "Gladiator" is named spike, and the cyclops guy from the impulse looks like his name is something along the lines of cyclops. the yellow guy is on there and the green guy is in the background of an actual set, but i cant make those 3 out clearly

in the pic with all the baddies, there appears to be a wheel. does this mean were getting ground vehicles as well? because that could great increase my feelings of this line
-
i must say, these are much better than i anticipated. with that said, they still arent out of this world, pun intended. most of the aliens are sweet, at least their helmets are. the space police vehicle set we have already seen looks much much better than in those other pics, i love the thrusters on the back. if i get any one set from this theme, its this set. however, the GE, not gettin it done for me. its big and piecey, but i dunno. the pods are cool, and the idea of them being able to open when shot is cool, but it looks absurd, i dont think it was executed the best way. im still not sold on the color system for the police. the only vehicle it looks good on is in the said we've already seen; it looks crisp, clean, and fresh. also, the SP uniforms seem ok, i didnt really look at them because i was too annoyed that the helmets werent fully enclosed, and that is a HUGE turn off. as of right now, theres still room for improvement (although i personally like the two big bad guy cars apparently moreso than others here). im going to have to seem these sets in person or in reviews to make my final determination

Personally, i would never sell my old sets. i have a very hard time letting go of things from my childhood. also, i feel that some of the sets of yesteryear are infinitly better than what is available now, which much more variety. my dream since i was litle was to have a big enough house wherein i could set up all my sets, ie have a whole town section, a whole castle section, a whole divers section, space section, etc etc. even if someone offered me millions i dont know if id be able to sell my LEGO. i feel like theres a personal connection and id be betraying them if they were no longer in my possession

The thought of a potentially great galactic enforcer is whats keeping me coming back to this thread, hoping pics of it leak. lego knows how loved the original mediator was, and with a name so similar im sure theyll try to recapture that love. it would be surprising to see them horribly miss the mark on this one

In light of the new Space Police prelim sets, along with numerous other summer prelims, i was wondering if anyone had past AquaRaiders prelim pictures. Someone posted on in the space police 2009 thread, so i was wondering if anyone had more, i would liek to see how they changed from original ideas to what hey are now. thanks

Im up at college and have no desire to do my homework, and i havent written much on these forums in awhile, so i figured id throw my opinion in here. ill try to do it nicely, and hopefully i wont get berated, unlike some of you: The main reason i dont like these sets is the same reason most of the other detractors dont like them either. Its City, but in the near future. The greatness that was the former Space Police themes (im basing it mostly off SP2 because they were my prime lego years) was that despite the "police" moniker, they werent overtly policy. You knew they were in control and had authority, but it didnt feel like a bunch of lego town (old school) cops took an extended stay on the moon. They felt entirely separate of the town police, with distinct colors to further this idea. In these new sets, the colors remain the same for the space police as for the town police. Granted the pics are prelim, but still. It feels like someone took town vehicles, slapped some rockets and stuff on ad said look it flies in space, so Space Police! ok maybe its not that drastic but you get the idea. And the whole concept of the space car, while extremely well done and good looking, just isnt in the realm of the former space sets. All previous space sets to my knowledge, you could not be "like wow, thats a space car!" and have it look mainly like a city vehicle minus the wheels. the space sets were distinctly space. Here, the distinct and exact qualities that separated lego space from other themes are blatantly absent. The space vehicles reek of city (the baddy car is basically 95% a city car, and the cop has the same color scheme as city police, along with flashing red and blue lights which former SP sets didnt have, and i think it takes away from these new sets) and the concept of the one set we have reeks of agents (particularly the gold heist aspect, which is almost the same as the angent one with the jeep and gold; the characters remind of agents to with their styles and vastly unrealistic characters). Now im not against unrealistic aspects, but we already have characters like that in agents. Sadly, the only positive i have seen with these few sets is the new skeleton-like helmet, but since i dont buy sets strictly for the figures, i may not wind up with one of these cool helmets. In closing, i feel what we have seen thus far lacks an originality and uniqueness - if we wanted what these set pictures are providing, we could pick them up in the agents or city sections. I hope LEGO realizes this and at least adjusts these sets somewhat. It would be a shame to see the good name of Space Police taken in such a different direction. on a separate note, algernon i love ur pic, it reminds me of the good days of UFO which i think had some of the coolest mini fig accessories. the helmets remain some of my favorite ever

well it wasnt today, but on wednesday i bought the last skeleton tower at kb toys for $29.94. If i had waited until today, it would have been $23 or $24.

ok, so i know some requested which boxes i have. well if you count the four mini creator containers, i have 41 boxes in my little room. heres which ones i have: Aquaraiders: 7770 - Deep Sea Treasure Hunter 7771 - Angler Ambush 7772 - Lobster Strike 7773 - Tiger Shark Attack 7774 - Crab Crusher 7775 - Aquabase Invasion 7776 - The Shipwreck Castle: 7009 - The Final Joust 7029 - Skeleton Ship Attack 7036 - Dwarves' Mine 7040 - Dwarves' Mine Defender 7092 - Skeletons' Prison Carriage City: 7237 - Police Station 7249 - XXL Mobile Crane 7733 - Truck & Forklift 7737 - Coast Guard 4WD & Jet Scooter 7738 - Coast Guard Helicopter & Life Raft 7890 - Ambulance 7903 - Rescue Helicopter 7991 - Garbage Truck 7992 - Container Stacker Creater: 4837 - Mini Trains 4838 - Mini Vehicles 4891 - Highway Haulers 4896 - Roaring Roadsters 4915 - Mini Construction x2 4939 - Cool Cars 4995 - Cargo Copter Factory: 10184 - Town Plan Indiana Jones: 7620 - Indiana Jones Motorcycle Chase 7622 - Race for the Stolen Treasure Pirates: 6253 - Shipwreck Hideout Star Wars: 6212 - X-Wing Fighter 7250 - Clone Scout Walker 7666 - Hoth Rebel Base Technic: 8272 - Snow Mobile Trains - 9V: 2159 - 9V Train Track Starter Collection 4548 - Speed Regulator 10153 - 9V Train Motor 10173 - Holiday Train I decided to keep all the boxes that had a tuckable flap intact, and all that did not I opened up and flattened out, then stuck most of them inside the Crab Crusher box. After it was all complete, I got 41 boxes all the way down to 8. Not bad if I say so myself.
-
I dunno, i ordered the Holiday Train last year around this time, and it came in earlier than expected. Lego is usually pretty good with the times they give for deliveries. All the ones I've ordered have come under or at the minimal time they give, so i cant complain

I have Shipwreck Hideout built and in my possession. I have Soldier's Fort, Loot Island, Cannon Battle, and Soldier's Arsenal purchased and waiting to be given to me by my girlfriend as Chirstmas gifts. Krackin Attackin and Brickbeard's Bounty don't really appeal to me too much. I only really want the sets for the cool soldiers. I'd rather wait for Brickbeards Bounty to go on sale for about $50 permanently to buy it, its not worth $100 to me at all.

Buy 2009 LEGO Pirates from S@H or Toys R Us
Moose replied to General Armendariz's topic in LEGO Pirates
i took advantage of this in florida. i got my girlfriend to buy me the fort, the treasure island. cannon battle, and the soldier impulse. the only two i didnt get there were the pirate impulse and the ship, because the pirate impulse is kinda eh, and the ship does nto deserve to be $100. So to complete my christmas gifts shes ordering me the fire engine offline cause its impossible to find anywhere else and then shes gonna get me The Castle since its a much better buy than the ship. also, many stores retroactively give sales prices as long as its within 30 days or so
