I just realised how much green grocer has gone up. I sold one with the instructions a couple of years ago (built once and displayed by me) for I think about $350 and I thought I was making out like a bandit. I only sold it because I had another one, thank goodness. I have regretted selling some of sets, I rarely do it anymore.

I am really happy to hear that. My interests in Lego are also mostly the modulars and technic sets, but I really love the Ferris Wheel and Carousel and had to have them when I saw them on the shelves (I love the motion in those sets), and those inspired me to make one like the Tilt-A-Whirl. It is actually the first MOC I ever built.

My project has been on Cuusoo for just over one year. I almost thought they may have been inspired by it, but even if it was, I am so happy they are making another amusement park ride.

Coming fomr that perspective, as having the type of interest that you do in Lego; Do you think that you would also like the Twist-and-Whirl ride I made, and am trying to gather support for on Lego Ideas? (link to it is in my sig).

Do you think with the release of the Fairground Mixer, that people would be more responsive to a set like this one?

This is my most eagerly anticipated theme. An amusement park would be the best. Check out my twist and whirl ride I made in my signature.

Those are great! My most eagerly wanted theme from Lego is a full amusement park.

It seems to me that any product where there is any sort of slight speculation that one can sell it for more than they paid for it, is going to attract one or more people for that very purpose. Examples would be Beanie babies, Pokemon cards (or any of the many popular trading cards for that matter), sports shoes, etc... Lego has been particularly long-lasting when compared with those items, but also has a very large market to sell to, increasing the likeliness of finding a buyer and making a profit. 200 in sales a day is cake when millions of dollars are changing hand everyday for Lego products. Now, there is also a psychological phenomena perhaps at play as well via one's internal reward mechanism, similar to the feeling gamblers and day-traders pursue. Consider that some Lego parts and sets have enormously increased in value. Obtaining one of these parts or sets, or correctly speculating a set purchased at retail will inflate in price, can provide an overwhelming sense of euphoria. Selling it and returning a profit also provides a sense of satisfaction and self-reliance. The otherwise effect to me is the most negative impact of this behavior. I am a collector, builder, player, fan of Lego. I purchase only one of a set, and keep each separate form others. There are sets I want, but are far too expensive for me to buy now, whereas a speculator may have multiple copies they are just waiting to sell. They often seem to be traded as future commodities, and rarely are going to the hands of someone who intends to open and enjoy the set the way that I would want to. This is the only detriment I have personally to the market, but I realize its a free world, free market, and some people pursue money more than leisure. I am not upset at these people, I just try to enjoy the time and sets that I am fortunate enough to have.

Yea, that looks really good, I like the diagonal floor tile, and pretty clever way to make it work. Can't wait to see more of it.

This model will be on display, fully working at the Denver Comic Con 2014. I will be there with my local LUG as well showing many impressive models.

I heard this may go on sale early for Lego VIP's?
-
Oh man, I do now how that can feel. You will have another idea strike you, and it will be even better.

I usually do not apply the stickers either, but I did put the gold refleictive ones on the Grand Carousel set because they were so shiny.

I use the 1x2 brick the most.

How can I clean my dust covered 10179?
dvsntt replied to Adamskii's topic in General LEGO Discussion
My display sets, I dust occasionally with a feather-like duster and less frequently go over them using the blinds-attachment on the vaccuum. For washing I fill up a sink with water and a a very light and mild detergent. I also have a bowl or bucket with distilled water in it. I dunk the parts first in the detergent water, then rinse under the sink and then dunk in the distilled water and then lay out (pile up is more accurate) to dry. The distilled water prevents water spots. -
I hope the Dr. Who passes review, it is a very cool theme and any people I think would love to have that set. The birds, while I supported it, I am less anxious for, but I do like it.

The activity feed seems to be more like it was before, showing when someone supports a project (still dont see any updates when a comment is added, which is OK by me).

MOCs, how much do they end up costing?
dvsntt replied to psdillon's topic in General LEGO Discussion
In the ones I have built, I find (after shipping and associated costs) my average price per part is $.25. That is my last model that was about 4000 parts cost me $1000 to obtain all the parts. -

How do you get so many legacy colors to appear? -
I love the way it folds up and goes on the truck. Lego designers just blow me away sometimes.
