  1. Weird...I've lived in 3 southern states and there have always been plenty of bars in each one (not just restaurant/bar combos). I've always lived in a larger city or a college town though. Back on topic--it does seem strange that we'd get a modular with a barber shop, a bar-type area, and a detective agency all together. I don't think it would look that strange, as many businesses share buildings, but it seems odd that Lego would pack that much in when usually the modulars are more narrowly themed.
  2. Hope that news is true! A barber shop is even more exciting to me than the detective agency!
  3. I hope they just use regular legs for everyone. The differences in the characters' heights don't need to be exaggerated as much as kids/adults or LOTR hobbits/elves.
  4. I'm excited about the Big Bang Theory set too--will definitely be putting that living room into a modular apartment complex.
  5. This is really cool! For folks that aren't fans of the show, you could still get some cool furniture, some nice fleshy heads for civilians in the super hero line, and some cool clothing items.
  6. I would enjoy Wayne Manor, but would much prefer a Daily Planet! It could potentially go great with the modular series and it would give us a location where attacks and other action are more likely to occur. But honestly, any way for us to get a super hero set that isn't just vehicles works for me.
  7. I quite like the building--it looks nice where you have it in your street of modulars! The sign will really help distinguish it as a liquor store, as right now it looks like it could be just about anything. I do like the bottles in the window though. Great work!
  8. I appreciate the advice guys. I'm going to hope that TH becomes available again on the shop at home site, but will certainly snatch it up if I can find it at a reasonable price elsewhere before then. Otherwise, if I miss it I will just live with it and move on to the buildings that are available (making sure not to miss any in the future, haha).
  9. This thread has me super stressed about the status of the Town Hall and Grand Emporium! I bought my first modular, the Palace Cinema, early this summer. Of course, I love the set but am now regretting not starting out with an older one. Here's my situation: I can afford one modular right now. Should I go ahead and order the Pet Shop? Or do you think I should hold out until the end of the month in hopes of the TH or GE becoming available again? I understand that no one is 100% certain about which modulars will be or won't be retired, but I would like your opinion. I'd be very happy with the Pet Shop, but would really prefer the Town Hall. I know I shouldn't take the Pet Shop for granted either--but it seems like it is the least likely of the 3 to retire soon, so I'm more willing to take the risk of waiting 2-3 months before getting it.
  10. I'm thrilled with these sets--I'll be picking up the Green Lantern and Darkseid sets on day 1. Also of note--while this comment might be more appropriate for the far away 2017 rumor/discussion thread--2017 is shaping up to be a great year for DC Lego with the releases of Justice League and the recently revealed Lego Batman film. So if 2016 only focuses on Superman/Batman, we can still look forward to a variety of sets the year after!
  11. I'm glad they released the classic Superman last year. I'm not a fan of the new suit in the comic, movie, or in Lego form. I might pick up a set to get Lois though.
  12. Thanks for the feedback, everyone. On the police station - I knew I wanted to make a corner building, but I was running out of windows and I was running out of colors that would look OK with the other two buildings. So the final building looks a little strange, haha. I enjoyed some of the newer (to me, anyway) building techniques. I look forward to getting some new pieces and experimenting further!
  13. Sorry for the poor pics and for not posting a lot of details--but I was eager to share my first (mostly) original creation since returning to Lego! This street is primarily made of parts from my childhood, although I did try to use some of the instructions from the new modular series. I'm hoping to improve on the set when I'm able to get some more pieces. View of the whole street The police station The Pizzeria I hope to post some more (and better) pics soon. I have a few details inside of the buildings too.
  14. I would really love to see Oz sets. Disney is releasing an Oz prequel this year, and I'd much rather see sets for that instead of the Lone Ranger film. But even if they aren't specific to that film, most of the Oz stuff is in public domain so they could easily make some sets. I worry that Lego would give these sets the Friends treatment if they went with the plan--I'd much rather see some legit sets based on locations (Emerald City, Witch's castle, etc.).
  15. I'm very eager for Lego to release more non-Batman characters from DC. Here are a few ideas to expand the universe: -Attack on the Hall of Justice (Major Set) Characters: Super Man, Martian Manhunter, Flash, Black Canary, & the Royal Flush Gang -Green Team-Up Characters: Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), Green Arrow, Sinestro Build: Some Power-Ring constructed vehicles -Green Lantern Corps Characters: Kyle Rayner, John Stewart, Guy Gardner, Kilowog, Guardian Build: GL Central Power Battery -Girl Power Characters: Wonder Woman, Super Girl, Bat Girl, Cheetah Build: Vehicle for Bat Girl? Invisible Plane? Of course, I'd love to see Hawk-Man, Hawk-Girl, Darkseid, Plastic Man, and many more too! But I realize that Batman and Superman are probably where the money is. So I'd be happy to get more team-up sets like "Aqua Man on Ice" - I just wish they'd speed it up a little so I can at least have the core members of the JLA!
  16. Thanks for the review. I'm only going to pick the set up for the Aqua Man fig (and I'm definitely going to change his hair!). I too was surprised and disappointed when Aqua Man was announced as the only non-Batman figure we'd get in this wave. But I'll take what I can get!

    Hello

Hey everybody! I've been visiting the website for about a year, but I'm just now joining! I'm 26 and just got back into Lego over the last year or so. While I was tempted by the beautiful modular series, I was never willing to put the money down for the sets. Instead, the Super Heroes line finally convinced me to come back into the fold! Other than Super Heroes, I'm a big fan of Town, Castle, and Western. Excited to be here!!! JDW
