Can anyone tell me what is happening or included in the Forest Ambush set? I can only make out one Minifig jumping from a tree onto something or someone. Depending on what's included I will get that and probably either the Gatehouse Raid or the Dragon Mountain set. Might have to wait to see better pics to decide on which is better. Also does anyone know if the saddles on the old horses work on the new ones and vice versa?

Must get some white new horse molds. So that means definitely getting a few sets of the Cavalry. I might bricklink the minifigs since I wont have use for them. The stagecoach is really detailed and I like the Bandit mines, not sure at this point if I'll get more of these or the new castle or the LOTR new sets. It's either the Bandit mines, Dragon Mountain, Gatehouse or Black Gates set. A thought occurred to me. Will any of the horse saddles fit on the new horse molds?

Hopefully Minas Tirith won't look like it did in the game, it isway underscaled and would look silly next to minifigs. Yeah it is disappointing about the chess set, makes sense that it would be a board game, had my hopes up too. Worse case scenario it will be a flat area with brick built walls and towers in microscale like the Hobbit board game. Honestly my first thought was a new Lego video game. However one based off Helms deep doesn't make sense and the next Lego video game should be a Hobbit one.

The elves all should have had hair like you made deskp. Also I never noticed that Legolas minifig is flawed, always noticed something off and now I will always see this problem. Sad that Lego decided to reuse the leg prints to save money, not surprising but sad all the more.

Hopefully we get an Elrond in his reddish armor from the Hobbit in a new wave this year..

Yes! I want that Hobbit "battle pack". We get more wargs and white horse molds with Elves. Cannot get more perfect than that. I would buy 30 lol and make an elven cavalry. Only of course the elves would be wearing silver armor like in the movie and one elf rider would just have hair. It could go either way with the hair or helmet. They would need lances and bows. I think their capes were not in blue in the movie, will have to check on that. Also zylek, I hope this means that we will get a balrog, Treebeard and fell beast soon if Lego is closely following their brick builds from the game. Though I think Lothlorien is a little more disappointing than Rivendell. Would have preferred one taller tree or a set that appears high in the trees without the roots like Galadriel's court or the mirror scene. Hopefully that set would come with Galadriel, Celeborn, Lothlorien Haldir and Aragorn or something along those lines.

That almost sounds like a chess game with Uruk-Hai and Saruman and Grima and then te opposing side having Rohirrim, Galadhrim and Theoden and Haldir and Aragorn.

Couple new thoughts. Rivendell should have two new hair molds with elf ears, circlet for Elrond and the thick hair for Arwen. This will work great to make more diverse elf minifigs. The choice of using a Last Alliance Elven great sword makes sense over a one handed long sword like Hadhafang. Not only do all of the Last Alliance elves carry one, the Galadhrim in their scout uniforms do as well as their armored versions at Helms Deep. Likewise in the Hobbit the four Mirkwood Elf nobles with Thranduil are seen carrying them as well. Compare this to the noble style of Hadhafang, only Arwen, Haldir, Thranduil and Elrond use this type of sword. It is much less common whereas the Elven great sword is found on almost every elf.

I was thinking the same actually, TLG would never release only two SW sets in a single wave. We should look forward to seeing more in LOTR this wave as well.

I do see an eagle but there is more directly in front of the gate. There seems to be something swooping down where Gandalf is stricken back forced to defend with his staff. It looks more like a Fell Beast to me, the part that looks like the eagle is actually its serpentine tail.

The sets don't look so bad. The dragon mountain looks good actually, there's an incline which serves as a pathway through the mountain and everything is connected. We just need to see better pics to see what we are getting. Lego is using a lot of black new horse molds, I don't see any white ones. Lord of the Rings is the same, no Shadowfax! Maybe only Lone Ranger gets the new horse mold in white to boost sales for that theme. The gate raid has decent architecture, looks like the Joust set in a sense. Also the roof panels are like that in Council of Elrond. No idea what is in the Forest Ambush, I see a tree but can't make out much details.

Won't we get some detailed pictures during the January Lego toy fair or whatever it's called? Did anyone notice that the sets say June. I though the LOTR wave was supposed to be in March?

I finally see the tree! My eyes just had to adjust to perceive that layer. It looks like it could be attachรฉ to the base of the platform. That looks great and works well having the tree hang over the council set piece. Yeah I realized that there is no Aragorn sadly, I had feared we would only get Council Elrond, Arwen, definitely Gimli and of course Frodo. In this case I wasn't completely thinking in Lego business terms when I thought we would get a slightly larger Rivendell. I had a feeling it would be around the same price point $39.99 and piece count as the past exclusives.

I'll have to check for those leaves, thanks! Very odd that Lego wouldn't have reused the White horse from Lone ranger to use for Shadowfax in Black gate set. I mean these are preliminary sets, Saruman is bald but still seems like a missed opportunity. I don't see any leaves near Arwen, right of her is a weapon rack with a golden elven sword but to the right of frodo looks like there are some orange leaves used on a structure attached to the building. Look very far right almost to the edge of the box.

Just noticed Council of Elrond doesn't have the trees with autumn colored leaves like in the Lego game's bonus level. Hmm strange, would have loved some orange leaves, do any exist in Lego?

Wow I was more on the money than I thought. I suggested Wizard battle would be small with just Saruman and Gandalf with Palantir room. Also Council of Elrond would have Gimli breaking axe on ring altar play feature and look it does! It seems easy to figure out what Lego will do with these sets when you look at the patterns of release and piece counts. Most obviously Council of Elrond will be a Toysrus exclusive. Hopefully Aragorn will have a new Rivendell print with Council of Elrond but I doubt it. Interesting that Council of Elrond comes with a weapons rack complete with an Elven great sword. So now we get Gimli in two sets this wave, Legolas once, and Aragorn three times, Frodo only once as well. Wish frodo had a new print in this set. Another observation, looks like Lego used the same arch technique I used in my Forlindon MOC.

Thanks finally we get some pics! I was mostly right about the minifig counts and included characters. See not only do we not get Rohirrim we get no Gondor soldiers either. That is surprising. Also no Shadowfax or Brego, only Mouth of Sauron gets a steed, not fair lol. Also looks like an elven harp with the blue robed elf (Arwen or lindir?). Something golden looking in their hand.

Great designs on the minifigs! If you made some Rivendell Elf Riders from the Hobbit or an armored Elrond in the reddish tinge armor that would be cool and much appreciated! Also wouldnt we want two Gondor soldiers in the battle pack with one Rohirrim? We already got Eomer and Rohirrim in Uruk-Hai set, let Gondor shine. ;)

I think it was just a list of sets, no pics yet.

Very unique castle, I haven't seen any other MOCs have plates placed vertically on the walls. The small village setting is nice as well, evoking a sense of community and solidarity. Maybe add a few more village buildings to complement the size of the castle. Also love the use of the LED bricks! Gives me an idea to make Caras Galadhon with trees and then have the lights cascading throughout the dwellings (flets) that the Galadhrim dwell in.

I agree Albus, I'm glad that someone else is looking at the sets in a more practical and realistic fashion. I tried to compare each to the first wave and attempt to figure out minifigs and piece count for each set. Many on here keep trying to create an idealistic representation which we know Lego will not likely do for some time. I also like the fact that you did not include yet more Rohirrim.

I don't think the wave has the room for a set like this with the rumored items. Also I think we will get two polybags like usual and one will be a Gondor soldier and the other will be someone like a Gandalf the White or an Easterling/Haradrim OR most likely an Oathbreaker to build up the Corsair set. I don't understand the obsession with including a Rohan Soldier. There are already three horses in a potential Black Gate set and would Lego have four horses in one set. Also it ruins the dynamics of the set piece having that many but two (Aragorn and Gandalf the White) versus Mouth of Sauron plus one Gondor soldier on foot and one Mordor Orc or two on foot would be perfect. No need for Rohirrim, we have them in Uruk-Hai Army and may see them again in a Pelennor Fields set with Legolas and Mumakil.

I saw on the website that the chima sets are being given a "Hobbit Elf" with each purchase. On the toys r us website the Mirkwood Elf Guard and Gandalf are available for 4.99 and you get a free Mirkwood Elf with any Lego purchase doesn't have to be Chima.

Orcrist is far more important than sting in the Hobbit. Sting is demeaned as a letter opener while orcrist and glamdring are mentioned several times especially in Rivendell and even more so in Goblin town. Sting doesn't shine until the spiders of Mirkwood in the books. Lego will make tons of new molds for Chima but refuses to make a couple unique sword molds for the most important weapons: Anduril, Glamdring and Orcrist. It is pathetic but then I guess Orcrist wouldn't be used in many sets. Maybe by the second or third wave as Thorin gains prominence so will his legendary sword. Also Toys r us has this set listed as Gandalf at Dol Guldur so that means that this isn't the Troll hoard and the sword is just a sword, not necessarily Glamdring. Another little detail, Gandalf was not at Dol Guldur in AUJ, Radagast was the one to investigate. Lego could have made a Radagast instead of using yet another Gandalf.

Well we get a boat and a sorta castle out of black gate and possibly another round structure for council of Elrond. Maybe in the Hobbit wave we will get a Dol Guldur or Mirkwood Palace to satisfy Castle cravings.
