Purpearl steps beside XX and signals him to attack, "Keith's holding a shovel now, what a surprise. He won't even dare to lay a finger on rats the first time I met him. How do we even know if they aren't hiding anything more? Do we know anything for certain anymore? I know what's certain. Do what Zelphie wants and we get to Aventine." "Alright, enough of talk, we're left with no choice. It's either you two or us." Purpearl steps forward, ready for battle.

Purpearl steps forward, in the way of Sam and Keith, and draws her weapon, "There's no tavern or will you see Aventine anytime soon. Since we worked with each other one way or another, I shall be forward with my words. So both of you know, we are hired by Aventine as well. One of his many enemies had him abducted and we needed to have him rescued by tomorrow or we would've failed. We chased the abductors and tried to negotiate with them, but naturally since they are more skilled in combat, we drew the short end of the stick and we've got to do their bidding in exchange for Aventine. Regretfully, one of those was to eliminate allies of Aventine, including both of you. They have eyes everywhere, so there's no alternative to this." Purpearl's voice softens, "Both of you will need to feign death convincingly enough, so we get Aventine back and both of you will get paid when you see him again. That means we will have to engage in some sort of combat and pretend like it's the real deal. There are no guarantees and its a huge risk in that our enemies might see through this but it is the only chance we've got to keep everyone alive."

Didn't quite expect Sam and Keith to work for Aventine, Purpearl warns without hestitation, "What are you doing here? Evil truly lurk around these areas. Both of you should flee at an instant. Go now while you can."

"Aventine didn't mention anything about protecting his servants in our quest to keep him alive, so I guess we're good." Purpearl goes ahead as well.

"More in Heroica should have that kind of mentality. It's such a pity. But at least your mind is crystal clear, that's more than enough."

"I'm in no position to comment on behalf of the Veterans, but I know why I'm here and what should be done. Since you've gotten emotional with your words, no further discussion is necessary." Purpearl retires for the night.

"Whoever make right choices all the time? I am not too concerned as to what is a lie and whether I should embrace the dogmatic nature of things. Perhaps if you are a Hero long enough or perhaps you've have attained certain powers you would start to question. I am here to keep Aventine alive until I get paid and you would hope that we get to be on the same side next time round."

"Chauncey has gone great lengths to secure our trust and to keep an eye on us at the same time. As a former Hero yourself, you should know how we work. It would have to take something phenomenal to abandon our contract with Aventine and act against his wishes, return to Heroica with a failure under our belts, and be merry with it as long as Heroica stands."

Purpearl takes a scanty look at some before turning to Zelphie, "Sometimes we need to keep our enemies close, sometimes we don't. I don't really trust you until I get to meet Chauncey and Aventine, so I'm going to keep you within sights. It's a deal then."

Purpearl gives Matthias an eyeful, wondering why the gnome's so willing to help someone who captured Aventine and the cause of this endless chase. "Why are you helping us?" Purpearl says skeptically. "How do we know if Chauncey hasn't sent you to delay our progress? If you're truly sincere, you'll need to show it, hand us your most precious or something along that line as security, words are nothing when we are clearly at the disadvantage."

"I don't think we've met before, lady fairy, at least not for me. I am Purpearl and we are from Heroica. Ve'er is a very volatile zone for us, do you mind introducing yourself to avoid any misunderstanding?"

"Yes, we should get our priorities right. The gnome's looking up to you now, perhaps the first thing to be a good role model is to keep cursory words under control."

Purpearl continues to walk, "I understand your unconscious desire to serenade with Guts, but I am not that being that you think you may find in him. If you are learnt, you should realise that this sort of transference is not nutritious to the mind and soul. You should realise this and reflect quietly."

Purpearl continues to walk calmly past Nerwen. This is something she has anticipated having witnessed similar sort of endless philosophical debate between Nerwen and Guts. "Do not be confused with stupidity and mercy. Everyone deserves a chance of repentance. Valentine is and has already been defeated, there isn't a further need to slay his head off or claw his heart out. What I have done is what he would have wanted, but having seen how minds quickly change in the face of impending death, there is an avenue for him to escape if he ever changes his mind. I am not a creator of Valentine's soul, there is no knowing if he's born good or evil. He may very well be good misled by evil, but no one knows, unless you are the creator of his soul? Perhaps if your light from the stars above shines deeper than my judgement in broad daylight? Unless he stands between Aventine and us, you would be pleased with what I can do, but I am not here to act or behave in a way that is consistent with your centuries of readable knowledge and to be judged by that. Nor do you need to feel obliged to be consistent with my views and actions. So long at the end of the day we save Lord Aventine, our paths will not cross after. If we can focus on making haste to Ve'er, that would be the best for all."
