Lego Pneumatic train build... [Dump blog thing]
Electricsteam replied to Electricsteam's topic in LEGO Train Tech
IT HAS BEGUN That was a pain in the but to sort! I can finally start making the train! No more need to tear down old trains to make new ones! -
Anyone have any tips for smaller scale towns? I love the modular I love all the different city sets but I would love to make a town of my own with much smaller buildings. Instead of those massive full plate modular I really want to have things around the 16x plate size and so on. Any idea how I could make a town of smaller home and shops look nice? Does anyone have example of some smaller Lego cities? Already have a small train and a small mobile police station for it at least.

:P I really like the Elgo system 90% 2x4 with a whole bunch of doors and windows to use.[Poop-I thought this might fall under lego history, my bad mods]
-
Another early brick building toy was Elgo American Plastic bricks. Aside from the close sounding name I don't really know much about them, I assume they tried to knock off Lego with the studs and tubes. Anyone know the history behind this toy?

These could be useful around shark week :P
-
I know I have that brick some where... it won't be too high quality but its better then nothing I guess :p

Hmmmmm that went right over my head whoops!

We've been kinda slowing down as of late maybe a building competition could spice things up? We could do another Weird and Wacky train challenge? Or ya know just the standard best train competition. There is a lot of out there parts that would be interesting to use in a MOC.... So er what do you guys think? I might be able to supply a perler or two as a prize?

What did you guys think of the Mars Mission series?

I think I have a few of the stickered bricks from the drill walker, looking at it now it's kinda reminds me of an oil drill but with legs! I'm trying to see if there is anything I can do with the huge pump, doesn't have too many places to build from. -
Oh boy beer and tissues. Dang I miss my huge P-A-B cup full of those clear tiles.Edit.... I can't spell
-
I only had two sets from this series. The big base set I barely remember getting this and like the only piece of it I have left is that big pump... so there is that. This friggin epic walking drill unit thing I recently found at flea market a whole bunch of those orange alien containers and part of this set here.... not much but still kinda neat for 5$ So what did you guys think of the Mars mission series ?

Didn't the modular station recently get 10k.... In 1-6 months we should know if it'll be a set or not right?
-
Well it needs to be functional, I get that having something to bend them into would do me good. The clear blue cylinders will be the pistons and switches are also not in LDD. The model is mostly a 4-8-2 mountain train for well Traintech but the focal point that is runs off air power! I want to hide all the ugly tubes inside of the model. It works okay on the test I made but the crimping at the edges concerns me about airflow. test moc here

Speaking of big trains and more motors.... How many motors do those huge Big Boy mocs usually use? I assume most have a few 9v motors behind it... It seems like it would need 2-4 L motors or something similar.

Yay! I have the last of the brick I believe I need to get this thing build... well the orders put in for the last two an the first two orders paid off! 90% through BL I should have the rest of the bricks here Now I need to go and find the pumps.... I'll keep y'all updated when the building starts! If you need me I'll be bouncing off the walls in excitement! -
I really disliked the hero factory series, well after it introduced the new bionicle system. CBCC or what ever it's called doesn't seen like it has as many building possibilities because everything is made for ball joints on light saber pegs. The new bionicle relaunch is nice though. Really wish they would bring back the mouth hole thing head design. It's hard to stick onto things without a peg or a stud of some sort

The loco will be finished but the tender will be a WIP until I can figure out how to (A power a L motor )and (B make it kinda of look nice instead of a mess of technic.) I know folks like Lego 12v has made some circuity doodad that takes a 9v battery to a motor..... Just the main problem is space, the normal batterybox is huge and takes up a bit of the tender.. I was thinking of pulling a flying dutchman with it's double tender's but I don't think it would fit well with an american loco. Okay so more random thoughts. I really want to display that this train is run by the air pumps. I am not sure how to make it a focal point of the tender with out loosing some of the look of a normal tender. I think I could attempt to make an 8 wide bogie like the Umbau carriages (http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=122771) I need every bit of space I can get.
