  1. That'd go much higher then the smokestacks and the roof of the cab I don't think it would work too well maybe if it was lowered a bit, but it does look pretty sweet
  2. Well... I made this.... I think this might be worse. I like the box thing in front of the boiler at least... Also I switched around the front bogie to have a magnet
  3. This train is going to drive me crazy for a long while probably, The smoke deflectors have that odd rounded angled shaped , which I really don't know how I could do that properly... The lighters might be the best I can get for the boiler type I used.... It looks better then a flat front at least. Edit.... *keyboard mashing* I can't figure out any good bricks for the smoke deflector or what ever its called
  4. I just don't like how it looks.... It's got the fin it has the light , bigger smokestack and what not...... What do you guys think
  5. Okay so ya'll know my ongoing project the pneumatic mountain northern locomotive, It's a good base for a train right no but I can't seem to figure out how I would properly do the finer details like pipes, ladders and those fin things, so on and so on. My train is a bit of a blank slate, I don't just want to keep it like this and call it done, I want to use all that empty space for some better details, and fix front of the train because that little platform falls off at the slightest touch. Some trains I'd like to make with my blank slate. I want to make this blank slate look big and heavy duty, I want to make this thing look powerful as it every so slowly inches forward... Anyways you guys have any times for detailing your trains? Many of those German trains have such nice detail on them. I know some of you folks must have seen these bigger trains up close, they aren't just big hunks of metal they are sorta like living hissing breathing monsters, these things are powerful... Anyways, tell me what y'all think
  6. How do I be hip and add images that link to topics on the forum in my signature, I would like to get with the times with pixel art trains.
  7. But the toothmarks give it that rustic look! In all seriousness I have way too many older bricks with tooth marks...
  8. I know the plate has been around for quite a while, but it still a bit of an annoying change, seems the local TRU has already made the switch to sell the brighter green. Also a shame about the water plate but tan is pretty useful
  9. Speaking of the new base plates.... Is anyone disappointed by the new bright color?
  10. Okay now that the main train is built, now is time to think about finer detail! rails tubes and springs! Ayways how could I add more detail! I've got a good base for a good train I hope. How bad would is look for I had the smallest size wheel in the front and the normal sized wheels for the trailing truck? I don't really want much of either truck supporting the drivers off the track, since I need all the traction I can get.
  11. The wheels are quite oversized, using the smallest wheels would be a bit of the better option for the trains. I do really like the 4w Toby he seems accurately scaled
  12. Here is a long train that might peak some interests but I don't ever see it brick built http://www.douglas-self.com/MUSEUM/LOCOLOCO/hex/hex.htm http://www.douglas-self.com/MUSEUM/LOCOLOCO/quadruplex/quadrapl.htm Everyone wants a Quadplex locomotive.... End segway.
  13. Some folks have mentioned that maybe I should make the train a 4-8-4. What do you guys think? I was thinking about a heavy duty truck there using the medium BBB wheels.
  14. Hey there I think I found an interesting mallard for you guys A pneumatic mallard from 04'
  15. Here is a bit longer video of the train in action guys... Enjoy!
  16. The 100% might take a bit.... Trying to find 6 air pumps for a decent price is hard, its just about 5$ per pump at the moment all spread out over different stores. I should have the two air tanks and maybe 1-3 of the pumps but I doubt I'd be able to find them any time soon >.<
  17. Is there any way to break the model into pieces that you can assemble? One piece for the switch mechanism one to two piece for the rest of the track?
  18. I really wanted to stick a medium BBB driver back there on a heavy duty truck. It's going to be a mater of traction i think for the train, right now it has very little grip but a lot of weight and power, I think I should buy from bullfrog snot. If I added another driver it would mess up the fire box so there is that. For the tender I'd need 6 small pumps and 2 air tanks an L motor and a batterybox, The tanks are about 6-8 by 4 wide by about 3-4 bricks tall so thats two of those, then the 6 pumps with the structure to hold them up and move them, then the large motor to drive it all, and of course power. I feel like a 9v adapter thing to PF would save batteries if I decide to bring it to convention.
  19. THOSE ARE ADORABLEAlso! There was a large layout back on train tech that I cannot find for the life of me... well it was a big layout full of smaller buildings like This one I made here, all different sorts colors you name it. These little builds are really nice they look like a bigger structure.. but not!
  20. Found my bear!
  21. The engine is about 3 tracks long, I am not entirely sure about the tender, I might make it a separate moc depending on how Technic it is. And I have no clue what to do for the next project I was thinking about working on a layout, I got a bunch of cool baseplates at a thrift store I that I really want to use
  22. This project has been about 4 years in the making, many diffrent designs and ideas have brought me to finnaly being able to produce this train. It's been a long 4 years when I set out making pneumatic trains after not being happy with the trains out there at the time, most of those trains had mostly exposed Technic or just a Technic entirely. No model was really made for show, There was a few like Big Blue and a few G scale train. Anyways I'm proud to present to you.... Drum roll please! The pneumatic 4-8-2 mountain! (Pretend it has the back wheels plz) Got the who gang together for this! Comparison to the city square building/vehicle Comparison to the light rail! Comparison to one of the trains that started it all! I'm so happy to have 90% of the locomotive done! Yes the tender will come later just working out how to fir the pneumatics! I really hope you guys here like the locomotive! -------------------------- History! ------------------- The first pneumatic train started out as a rigid 0-8-0 train. It was incredibly ugly and the only folks who saw it was a now disbanded RichLUG 2012-2013 The ESCO Behemoth A big ugly moving brick! The first train looking pneumatic train! 2013-2014 ESCO Goliath, It never was able to run and it was very front heavy and wasn't suitable for rails. (What gas station was that?) 2015-2016 GOAL COMPLETED. I think I'll always have these things being planned in the back of my head, this has been my longest Lego project ever, I'm so happy to have it just about complete I think I could cry *snif* I hope you guys enjoy! Thank all of you for helping me with this project over the years!
  23. There super quick video of it moving
  24. Mini update. THE PNEUMATICS WORK PERFECTLY Holy cow this is amazing! I'll try and get a better picture when the sun is up
  25. Holy cow this thing is huge. Poor quality photo I know but this thing is really shaping up!
