Lots of chocolate, sweets and a few days off my diet for starters... Oh yeah, and two and a half weeks off work... Most importantly, though: 7736 Coast Guard Quad Bike 7235 Police Motorcycle 7744 Police Station That's nine minifigs in one day which is a very good day by my standards! Still got stuff to come from my old and my in laws so hopefully more minifigs on the way!! Not so good - I was doing some cabling in the living room and put a hole through a gas main with a nail No heating, no hot water and no cooker for the rest of the Xmas hols. My wife is really proud of me! Still, my XBox is now online... Cheers Rog

Nice review and a nice set. The cab is crying out for mods though - All that space behind the cab could be used to extend it and add a proper seat, a computer, etc, etc. Also, the model is just asking to be converted into a excavator to use alonside the 7344 Dump Truck from a couple of years ago. It's never really had anything to match up to it! Cheers Rog

It's crap to be honest mate. Not worth the car park charge (yes you have to pay to park at the stupid place now!). Unless you are desparate for a Nandos or Superdrug it just ain't worth bothering!! BTW - Very jealous of your "deal"!! Cheers Rog

Well, a lot of these models can be used or converted for use with minifigs which fulfills my needs - I use a couple of the Creator houses in my Lego town. Although the scale is a bit off I think that the Taj Mahal and Eiffel Tower both work well with minifigs too. As for Technic - It does have its uses when building large minifig vehicles (XXL Mobile Crane for example) but I'm not a big Technic fan either for largely the same reasons. Sorry. Didn't know about those little guys but still wouldn't class 'em as minifigs I'm afraid!! Cheers Rog

Model team return petition
rriggs replied to Buttons's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I love Model Team and have voted Yes but I am not sure of the validity of any poll in which you tell people which way to vote regardless of what they actually feel? If you don't want No votes a more accurate and more realistic way of collecting support would be to either ask those against not to vote at all or simply to have a thread instead of a poll in which people could post to express their support. Cheers Rog -
Tesco Extra in Hatfield had several on the shelf yesterday morning when I was in there... Cheers Rog

I voted no - No minifigs... Cheers Rog

My first set and my fave set has always been 379 Bus Station. A classic old Town set! Cheers Rog

Like this? Cheers Rog

Thanks for this review. It nice to see what's in these new sets so early in their life. They're only just appearing in shops so this is really useful. It would be nice, however, if the pictures were embedded rather than just links. Also, the pics take ages to download which is frustrating. Cheers Rog

This is the kind of thing it is based on: Cheers Rog

With more and more 6-wide trucks and other vehicles around now I decided it was time to think about what to do if any of these vehicles was to break down. This is my solution: Front view with driver showing lots of orange warning lights and the contraol for the height adjustment of the boom arm. You can also see the safety barrier stashed and the fire extinguisher. There is a spanner on the other side out of view. Side view showing the doors and the lockers as well as the four axles for stability when towing. Rear view showing the boom which is fully adjustable for angle, reach and height meaning most large vehicles should be able to be recovered and towed. The chain is to secure towed vehicles during their journey and has six mounting points on the boom/towing arm. With a broken down ambulance in tow demonstrating the boom and chain in action. The same again from the rear. The arm extended and raised with the tow bar repositioned to give an idea of the movement possible. Also a good view of the rear facing spot lamps for working in the dark. Cheers Rog

Cost would be my first guess. Doors are fiddly little things to make compared to either bricks or panels... I was so pleased when I got this car and that it had doors. It would have been nice if more 2006 onwards sets included doors too! I would pay an extra few pence for them! My only other recent set with doors is the XXL Mobile Crane but I'm not sure I can get away with describing that as a car... Doors all the way!! Cheers Rog

Not new I'm afraid. These have been knocking about for years... I have to agree with most of the other comments about this set. It had promise (good minifigs, large baseplate, chopper, OR, etc) but just looks as if it has been designed with the budget in mind and bugger the quality. This is a shame. More floorspace inside the building instead of either the jeep or the helipad would have been so much better. I guess that kids want vehicles which is why it has ended up like this but I won't be investing. Cheers Rog

Sorry, you'll have to explain for those of us not conversant with the laws of the new world what the difference between c11 and c7 is... Cheers Rog

I too have never seen this set before (were there others too?). It's got some great features and soooo many minifigs. I particularly like it because I used to build my buildings in a similar way (ie single storey with no roof) because that was a great way to get lots of details in and made them easy to play with - I had no idea that Lego were doing the same thing!! Cheers Rog
-
That is a great model. I especially like (and will therefore steal ) the way you have done the roof and I really like the engine. I agree with you about the 8-wide for realism - I did the same with my LDD coach: LDD Coach Only criticisms are very minor - The wheels would look more realistic if you turned the wheels around on the front and rear axles and the toilet needs a door!! Just dowloaded MS Movie Maker to get started with (I like the price ) and have added a title screen and "The End" plus I've removed my hand. Now I've got something to edit my next goal is to sort out the lighting once and for all and to try different camera angles. And, thanks Dennimator for the link to the Brickfilms site! Cheers Rog
-
Thanks for the feedback guys. I did try hard to eliminate the flickering but got carried away on a lot of the frames hitting the capture button before sitting right back in my chair. Also, the hand thing was just stupid! Lesson learned though! Any recommendation for software for editing movies? Cheers Rog
-
Thank you! That was one of my little mistakes. Just downloading some editing software to remove that frame I'm trying to get just one thing right at a time.... Cheers Rog

It took me longer than I expected but this is my first weekend off since getting my new webcam and sorting out the lighting and I have just finished my second attempt at Lego animation. Same basic story (advance apologies to the Lego policeman in question! ) but with some additional characters to go with the better webcam and better lighting. I have also worked hard on the speed of the animation and it seems to be an improvement overall. Still a couple of little errors that I need to practice on but I guess that's part of the fun! http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=jYhWHdIUx5U Criticism and comments always gratefully received! Cheers Rog

Oh alright. Go on then!

That is a great looking model. However, it doesn't look particularly like a B737: - The front of the fuselage is too long from the wings forward (or the wings are too far back!). Even compared to the 737-800 which is the long version, the wings should by more in the centre of the fuselage. - The cockpit glass is also too angled - the B737 has quite a pointy nose but the cockpit glass is quite upright. - The wings and the winglets look really good and the proportions are nice but the end of the fuselage aft of the tail is too long. The B737 is quite stumpy at the rear. - Also at the rear, the B737 has a distinctive swoop that bends the tail into the top of the fuselage but yours does not. - The side windows do not come near enough to the front and are too low in the fuselage. I think that it is a great looking aircraft but looks more like a cross between a B727 and an Airbus A320 than a B737. I have moved the wings and the windows and it now looks like this. Looks like a wide bodied jet something like a B777 now: Cheers Rog

Well said. I too thought it was a bit harsh. You gotta give a new guy a break!! Anyway Buttons, nice sig fig and thanks for sharing. I'm not sure I understand the crazy get-up he's wearing but I like it nonetheless. I just hope you don't dress like that in real-life! Cheers Rog
