  1. Got the latest Lego Club magazine today and it features a great looking tow truck on the back (I will scan when I have more time for those not in the know). Anyway, it looks suspiciously like the truck I built a couple of months back: Lego Tow Truck Post Colours are different but very similar trucks nonetheless! Can I get royalties if it goes into production Cheers Rog
  2. I have to agree with all that Zuloo said and have to say that this is a great piece of work. Not sure what time zone you're in but I'm pretty sure that the clock's wrong... Brilliant MOC! Cheers Rog
  3. You see Ralph S and MOC together in a topic and you just know it's going to be good. This doesn't disappoint! Brilliant! Cheers Rog

    MOC: Courthouse

I think it's because it's all light grey. Some dark grey/beige/other detailing would break it up. Maybe pillars or doors/window/roof in contrasting colour would help? Cheers Rog
  5. Yeah. Sorry about that. Problems with my web hosting. The pics are back in this topic now! Cheers Rog
  6. That is a brilliant idea - Why didn't I think of that in the first place!?! I've now added it to my signature so this can be closed if you like......? Cheers Rog

    MOC: Red SUV

Nice MOC but I think that it currently looks more like an SUV/car crossover (like the Dodge Caliber or Nissan Qashqai). To make it look more SUV-like I think you need to add a plate (or two?) between the chassis and the wheels. SUVs have ground clearance. Cheers Rog
  8. Just quick note to apologise to anybody looking at my posts and not seeing any pics. I put my pictures in my own webspace but have recently changed providers and not everything has happened as slickly as it should have done! (massive understatement BTW ). Pics will be back soon - if anyone has even noticed! Anyone else had to change away from Lycos as part of their re-structuring? I'd be interested to know if it's just me or they have muched everybody's stuff up... Cheers Rog
  9. 30 years for me this year too!! It all started with the 379 Bus Station for my fifth birthday in 1979.... and I've still got it! To bookend my Lego history to date, my most recent sets were 7631 Dump Truck and 8958 Power Miners both of which I got last Saturday. Cheers Rog
  10. What are those wheels from? Cheers Rog
  11. I hope that this does happen. I would love Cars and Toy Story Lego to be available! Fingers crossed and watch this space I guess... Cheers Rog
  12. I just stuck them altogether in the car park at headquarters and they look fine together. The little one's look like local beat cars while the new shape cars look like high speed pursuit cars. With the mix of other vehicles around (vans, SUVs, trucks, etc) I think the difference works out OK. You may notice another 20 year growth in the background of this shot with the police stations 7744 and 6386 side by side... Cheers Rog
  13. Hi I am in the process of redesigning my personal website and thought it would be nice to link back to Eurobricks as part of my interests. Other forums I am a member of have banners that you can use to create links to allow this but I cannot find the same for Eurobricks. Is this something that is acceptable to do? If so, is there a suitable banner that can be used? Many thanks Rog
  14. About time for another comparison I think... I went to TRU this morning as there have been rumours of farm sets appearing on the shelves and I have been keen to get my hands on the 7634 Tractor since I saw spy shots of it. Anyway, sure enough TRU have got a few farm sets (the tractor & the SUV/Horse Box) on the shelves so I got my tractor. Having got home and put it together (it is great BTW) I dug out my other red tractor - 6608 from 1982. Front shots of the two tractors side by side. The new guy is clearly a farmer (great double-sided torso BTW ) and the old guy just some random male minifig. Interestingly, the two tractors have the same size headlights. Think I'll be adding extra lights to my 7634!! The new one is just bigger in every way. The old tractor, despite not having a cab, does have a proper driver's seat - The new one doesn't. Another minor mod on the way I think... I like some of the really little similarities: the colour, the exhaust on the same side on both, the headlight size and height from the ground. I challenged the two guys to a race. They were both well up for it! It was a close start with the lightweight of 6608 allowing him to get a great start but by the time they got to the camera the new big boy was just edging into the lead. By the time they finished (fell off the end of the table ) the big guy had it sewn up! One last shot showing a close up of the rear wheels on the two to emphasise the massive difference in size between the two. You can also see the Technic axle on the new tractor which hints at the basic Technic chassis that the tractor has. This is in stark comparison to the 6x2 plate and car wheels used on 6608. Cheers Rog
  15. I guess I'll be off to TRU in Stevenage tomorrow then!! The tractor is one of my 2009 most wanted. Hope it's not just a Derby thing... Cheers Rog

    Car Talk

Agreed! The FJ Cruiser is such a cool car but we cannot get it in the UK (well, not easily anyway ). I'm not jealous at all Cheers Rog
  17. Thanks! I forgot to mention that I used proper sets this time too! Cheers Rog
  18. Disappointing. Two spacemen is a cop out - Especially after including a spaceman in the first volume. If they must have a spaceman then they could have included a Futuron/Blacktron/Space Police/etc instead. Including two spacemen instead of something more varied is cheap. Also, as said above the printing is wrong on the space torsos (maybe this is an early proto version?) and the helmets are wrong. These are the later type helmets (big chin) which is not correct. They made this mistake on the first volume too. If they cannot make old style helmets for this set they should not include thes space figures at all. Bad, bad, bad. Cheers Rog
  19. I voted for both although what I actually prefer is 1980-1999 and then 2003 onwards. There was a distinctly iffy bit in between which I didn't get at all! Cheers Rog
  20. Great topic! These would be mine: I don't think any of them need introductions but, just in case, they are from left to right: Yellow Futuron Spaceman Airline Pilot Governor Broadside Princess Leia in her Hoth gear Knight from the Mountain Fortress Cheers Rog
  21. I think that they have their uses and when used correctly I think they look good. I like them on vans, SUVs and trucks. I think they look wrong on cars (the police car above is a good example of them looking out of place). I think that the combination of wide wheels and wheel arches on these 4 wide cars is not at all right. On trucks (the cement mixer, rubbish truck, etc) they look good. Basically, I think that at 4-wide they are bad. At 6 wide they are good. At 8-wide they are unecessary. One thing that does annoy me is that TLC use these comprehensively in the models they sell but you cannot use them in LDD. They are there in Creator mode but not if you are trying to build something for purchase through Factory. Why is this? Cheers Rog

    Car Talk

He never said he could drive! He's just talking about what he wants to drive... You can drive at 17 in the UK. I've been driving for 18 years and have had 29 cars in that time (I get bored easy ). Currently I have one of these: Next car's going to be Freelander 2 but I'm waiting to find the right price and spec... I've had a Jag, a Jeep, a Merc and a few BMWs in the past. Shortest time I have owned a car for is two weeks(!). Currently I pay £200 for insurance which is nice and cheap although I once paid £1200. That was for a Ford Escort XR3i when I was 19. Cracking car! Most I have paid for a service was £1100 for the 60K mile service on my Jag (It was a proper XJ Sovereign and not a baby Jag). Rest of my car costs have been quite minor and the only one that I really despise is Road Fund Licence. Why can't they just add another half penny to every litre of fuel and then scrap it? No big accidents and lots of dull and worthy cars and that's about it. Cheers Rog
  23. I've been playing about with LEGO animation again. This time I have been concentrating on lighting and editing as these were the iffy bits in my previous films. I think that they are OK now I've uploaded the film to YouTube and would appreciate any advice/criticism. Cheers Rog
  24. A great review of a model that I always wanted! Thanks for sharing the pics as decent photos of this set tend to be hard to come by! Raphy - Although you told us what the letters TIR stand for you did not explain what it actually means! The TIR Convention applies to international road transports, with the aim of facilitating cross-border truck traffic. TIR trucks are not supposed to be inspected at every border they cross, and the transports are insured. The TIR Convention currently applies in 63 countries. Cheers Rog
  25. Thanks for sharing but man-o-man you need to put your bricks together properly!! Cheers Rog
