Results of Round Three of the Vermin Battle: Jess vs. Guard A: Mug Jess rallies, preparing to fight off the horde of guards. She runs forward and stabs Guard A easily, as he is looking out into the arena at Henry. "I'll be taking this too," she says, winking as she takes out a small bag of 24 gold. The guard slumps forward, and dies. Jess wrenches her sword free, and dodges the blows from the other guards, avoiding anything fatal. Back-Up Guard A and Guard B both land blow on opposite shoulders, and the Head Guard nicks her on the stomach. She stumbles back, spits, and prepares for her next move. <Jess, please pick a target or I will pick for you.> Henry successfully flees, hopping back into the arena. He is weak and when he lands his knees give out and he pitches forward into the sand. The guard with a bow and arrow takes aim at him and fires, but his arrow turns to cinder in mid-air. Jess continues to fight.

Results of Round Two of the Vermin Battle: Henry: Recollects Jess vs. Guard B: Miss Henry runs to collect his weapon, and when Guard B tries to block him, he trips him. Sadly, this causes Jess to miss. The guard howls in pain. The Head Guard and Guard A both deal swift blows to Henry Henry before he can scamper backwards, and Back-Up Guard A attacks Jess while she is still off-balance, scoring a hit. Sorry, I didn't realize that's how free hits worked, I thought it was simply whoever the NPC picked to target. I'll fix it now. And it's called Vermin battle because you're vermin.

Henry and Jess climb the walls. They are both almost hit by an arrow, but dodge nimbly. They arrive at the top of the wall, and catch their breath before they are faced with three guards. "I suppose it would be irresponsible to fill my canteens with liquor," Boomingham pouts. "Oh well, I'm ready to go! If I stay in this town any longer I'll have no gold left what-so-ever!"

The weapons of the guards are assorted, as are their uniforms. They have have spears, swords, axes, and one (and only one) has a bow and arrow. They are far enough away from the top of the wall that the heroes, if they chose to scale it, would have a second or two to catch their breath before being attacked.

There is only sand, there isn't much room for exploring. "I'm growing bored," says Lady Wren in a voice that sounds like it is whispering in each heroes ear. Suddenly, electrical pulses course through both their bodies, and they feel weaker. "Do something, anything, but do it quick. Be heroes of action," she instructs. There is nothing in the sand. The walls are brick, but they are not even and it is possible, if a challenge, for someone to scale them.

"Maybe he's just a wacko king. Could you possibly tell us what you need us to do, where you need us to go, and where in town you think we should visit?"

The arena is circular. The lowest level is a sandy field, where the contestants stand. The walls surrounding this area have only two divides - for the elevators. The walls surrounding the battle field are about ten feet high, and the crowd is seated next to it. Guards are peppered through the area, but not many. Higher up in the stands are a few private boxes, the biggest of which belongs to Wren and Draco.

The guards come to collect the next two combatants, who turn out to be Jess and Henry. They do not bother to resist are are dragged to their individual elevators. The elevators rise and the wall facing the arena falls away. "Fiiiiiiiiigggggggghhhhhhhhtttttttt!" calls Draco. What would the heroes like to do? The man introduces himself as Hans. "I've been here before. They kept me after I won... apparently I was a crowd favorite. There's no point in trying to escape, I've seen it tried and it can't be done. Also, your friends? They were good fighters. If they hadn't been, Draco or Wren would have had 'em killed. Means that they're still somewhere. In cells or something. A cleric heals 'em up and they're used some other time. If you guys make it out, I'll help you out, but not before then." Henry pops his pellet. Blue light bursts forward from his eyes and he stumbles around for a while. Once the light dies down, he is dizzy, but holds onto a wall and feel better. He feels like he is tougher. His skin feels thicker, his armor bigger, his agility more agility-esque. He has gained one health. The heroes may use the remaining time to figure out if they would like to escape now, or wait. Currently, Garrison would fight by their side, but no others would. Make a choice to fight the guards, or keep fighting in the arena and see if things improve. Henry may also eat his pellet if he so chooses, or add it to his inventory and give it away when he returns to the hall.

Boomingham steps up to the lady. "Look here, you just gave that fellow 5 canteens for nearly the same price I got my 3. Perhaps you were not totally fair with me? I don't like it when people aren't fair. Now, we need that map you've got. Perhaps it will be a fair way to make up the balance that you owe us."

Hybros pops his pellet. Suddenly, a yellow glow starts to shine from his skin. His black skin turns green and he starts to empty the last meal he had onto the floor of the cavern. Suddenly it all stops, and Hybros feels sick and light-headed.
