OoC: Hahaha. It's quite alright! You've quested with me as your QM twice, you know that I understand mistakes because I make them quite often myself .

OoC: I have a shield. I should have only lost 10 health total so far (-5 first time, with the shield absorbing half the damage, and -5 the second time, as it's the same deal). Boomingham sweats profusely. This is, shockingly, the toughest battle he has been in, other than perhaps his battles versus the Scarabs. "Mr. Marvelo, doesn't this get your blood pumping? Just like our time in the desert. Which now seems so long ago... or rather, so far ahead! Hah!" Boomingham wipes his forehead. "Sir Naga, if you have a charge to take care of, putting him in a position in which he may be stabbed is never, ever, a good idea. Octavian, if he is to act, must always act last, so that if any of these guards get any ideas, they will not be about stabbing him in the gut." Boomingham was distracted. His ability was suffering because of it. "Once more," says Boomingham to the Head Guard, using the same weapon and row. "Octavian, take on the Secondary guard, if you would, and hopefully you will not be hurt." Boomingham cries out in anger. His head is full of thoughts he does not want, and his companions are suffering. It is too much for him, but he directs his rage into his sword. He will hit his target this time.

And even hosts can cast wall of text! Hopefully that wasn't too painful to read. I like my NPCs to be properly fleshed out! Anyway, ask away if there are any questions as to how War works. I admit, it's a little confusing, but I THINK it should be clear enough.

The heroes awoke in the morning. The air was crisp. The sun was weak, but present, and the day felt light. The heroes packed up their camp for the last time, and Hans and Felton led them to the War camp. Felton and Hans wore their warrior's cloths (aka I finally made their stats realistic). Already, troops had started to gather. A stone table, a relic of some old temple, perhaps, or some old castle, or some old town, served as the leader's meeting space. Vonnetate and Gregor stood at it, looking over maps and numbers. Felton and Hans joined them. Off in the distance, far from each other, Haddock and Samuel drilled different troops. They MUST know we are coming. This is not how a war is fought. Spies, spies..." "The troops are ready. Damn bastards know we're coming though, they've set up troops. We're going to have to fight them on the plains before we make our way to the town at all. They're trying to bring the fight to us. Bah." "It's that spy. McColt is too afraid to fight us, so he spies. He is afraid. That is not a true warrior." "I still say it's Haddock. Orcs are slimey little creatures, he must be feeding them information-" "We know it isn't Haddock. Stop being a fool and talking in circles." "Well, how do you know it wasn't Haddock? We removed who you thought was a spy. Fredrick's gone and McColt still is getting information." "I was wrong, yes. I admit that. But Fredrick was not a warrior, and I will not lie and say that I am sad he is gone." There is a pause. "What's this about Fredrick?" asks Hans, through gritted teeth. "I leaked his where-abouts to the guards. I thought he was their spy. They have a spy among us. I was wrong, and he was killed, but it did not hurt our cause. Sometimes, you must suffer loses. I am not sorry he's gone. Gregor is a far better commander." "You sold out an ally? That does not sound like an honorable warrior to me." "You knew about this?" "I thought he was a spy, simple enough. Yes, I knew, and yes, I'm sorry to see him go, but not much we can do now, am I right? Haha! Too late for apologies now, I suppose." "The troops are ready. The battle is at hand." "Prepare yourselves, heroes." "We will sort out our... issues with these men... and beasts... later. For now, their cause remains good, if not soured by the leaders of it. Prepare yourselves for war." You have 75 Rebels to use, and 5 Rebel Captains to use. These are all the troops you have for ALL THREE BATTLES. Before the battle you must complete the following: a) Assign the number of Rebels you'll use. b) Assign the number of Captains you'll use. c) Assign who in the party will carry the Phoenix Smoke. (Each battle will have a specific set-up, please read them all).

Boomingham turns to Sarick. "Sir, I am all for diplomacy, but I'm thinking we may be a little late in that department." Besides, mages are never to be trusted, and those warriors employed by them... Boomingham catches the irony and doesn't finish the thought. "Again, sir." Boomingham, still using the King of the Desert, stabs at Head Porthiar Guard again from the front row. "I'm glad that you decided to join the battle, Octavian."

Sorry Questies, Fridays are my ridiculous days, I'm gooing to have to photograph tomorrow, so the Quest is put on pause for a day. Sorry for the wait! We're near the end (two weeks tops, probably!)

I know that Mehmet was suspect of you as well. Vote: Hans Gubernaculum (Bob)
-
Well, here we are to clean up the pieces. Luckily, Mehmet got us most of the way, and we're going to be able to flush out those final cultists. We have lots to go on, even without his coordination of actions during the night. We can figure out, by previous actions, and people cleared, who the remaining scum are. We have an investigator out there, and someone confirming virgins, and people who aren't confirmed by either of them can be confirmed by their actions. I will start to go through the list and see if I can dredge up a list of suspects.

Round 3 Chaos Beast of Zoot Battle Dyric - Miss Tensi - Shield Skrall - Aim Felton - Miss Sir Poletad - Damage Haldor - Critical Hit The battle continues. Dyric tosses his knife, but it misses once more, and Tesni cries once more, encouraging Haldor, who felt rather down after his fall. Skrall and Felton fire and strike off their marks, respectively, though Skrall's arrow does clang off the Beast's helmet (-9) and Poletad is squashed, and barely clings to life on the floor. Haldor, enraged over the Chaos Beasts and the abuse he has suffered, and particularly over the lose of Jess, strikes the beast with all his force (-72). The Beast once more bellows its unearthly bellow and disappears in another explosion of smoke and fire. The Party Skrall (played by WaterBrickDown) Level 13 Ranger (Party Leader) Power: 22 (+4 Against Beasts) Health: 18/18 Gold: 70 Inventory: Hunter's Crossbow (WP:9, +4 vs. Beasts), Potion (3), Remedy (1), Tonic (1), Smelling Salts (1), Smoke Bomb (1), Water Bomb (1), Ice Bomb (1), Holy Bomb (1), Skeleton Decoy (1), Phoenix Essence (1), Military Grade Lightning Bomb Tesni Hightribe (played by Peppermint_M) Level 18 Berserker (Back-Up Party Leader) Power: 24 Health: 34/34 Gold: 137 Inventory: Cysgodion the Great Sword of Darkness (WP: 11, Darkness), Cryfder (WP:6), Mockthril Shield (SP:5) 2 Phoenix Essence, 4 Potions, 3 Mead, 3 Venom, 2 Nostrum, Haldor Skovgaard (played by Scorpiox) Level 14 1/2 Cleric Power: 26 (24+1) Health: 22/22 Ether: 20/20 (17+3) Gold: 25 Inventory: Heavy Metal Rod (WP:11), Lesser Ethereal Cloak (SP:1, +3 Ether), Paper Doll (Hexed immunity), Frying Pan (WP:1+1 health, unequipped), Spike Coller (+1 power), Shovel, Pickaxe, Potion, Remedy, Venom and a fur-lined bedroll, Tonic, Phoenix Essence, Military Grade Fire Bomb Dyric Rone (played by Legonator) Level 9 Rogue Power: 14 Health: 15/15 Gold: 261 Inventory: Double Chain Whip (WP: 6), Throwing Knife (WP: 4), Longsword (WP: 3), Venom, Smelling Salts, Pre-Rolled Loaded Die, Potion, Grating Stone, Military Grade Lightning Bomb Felton (NPC)Level 12 Wren Fighter Power: 9 Health: 52/52 Gold: 0 Inventory: Rapier (WP: 3), Potion x2, Phoenix Essence NOTE: Shield – Rest, recovers 5 Health Sir Earl Poletad (NPC) Level 2 Frog Paladin Power: 2 Health: 6/6 Ether: 2/2 Gold: 0 Inventory: None NOTE: Shield – Croak, uses 1 ether to heal all Party Members by his level. If no ether, than he regains 1 ether. The heroes trek back to the camp, and Hans and Felton sit them down, and look them all in the eye over the fire. "Tomorrow, heroes, we go to war. And we are scared. Neither of us has ever gone to war before. I was a leader of a small village until Wren brought me to the Arena. I do not know how to fight a war. It is very possible there will be deaths. I just wanted to say thank you, heroes, for answering our summons another time. Wren is here, and she's working some plot, and I genuinely believe that we are stopping her. And that is what Hans and I have dedicated ourselves to, but you didn't dedicate your lives to that, and you're still willing to lay them down, so thank you." "I'll say a little less. After I escaped the Arena, two years of my life had passed. I don't think of myself a smart man, but I do want to think of myself as a good guy, and I realized that stopping Wren had to be done. I'm not that great of a faithful guy, but I know that Wren is evil, and I can feel it, and that means something. I feel it in me that we must stop her." "This is most likely just a stepping stone in her greater plan, but if we can stop her at any or all stages... well, thank you heroes, and may the gods bless you tomorrow. We will go to war with you." "Ai. Sleep tight." Felton and Hans both retired to their sleeping bags, and the heroes were left with the fire (bold when you want to sleep). After Hans and Felton had gone to sleep, a final piece of parchment floated over the fire, and one of the heroes snatched it.

I don't know if sharing clues is the best idea, but leaving everyone in the dark is not a good idea either. The gods above have said that if the demon gets hold of the clues... it may not be good. But perhaps that is only if they receive them personally. Perhaps we should go 50/50 and share half our clues, so that no one is lost, but the demon doesn't have the same exact edge as us all. Just an idea.

"Shield at the ready, sir." Boomingham lunges at Head Porthiar Guard. He did not know who to keep his eyes on. The snake-like mage seemed intelligent enough, which could be dangerous, but he was a commanding officer, and to be followed for the time being. The Zeigfried mage was not lifting a finger to help the heroes, and Boomingham distrusted him terribly. Barty was hovering near-by, still darting around nervously, and, of course, there were the angry men with swords directly in front of him.

Round 2 Chaos Beast of Zoot Battle Dyric - Retrieve Knife Tensi - Chaos (1) Skrall - Phoenix Essence Felton - Chaos (3) Sir Poletad - Hit Haldor - Shield The battle continues as the heroes dart about. Dyric retrieves his knife as Tesni charges the beast, who repels her with a huge cloud of black mist that makes her skin sizzle (-10). Skrall rushes to Haldor and pours some Phoenix Essence on his fallen friend, who picks himself up unsteadily. Felton also charges the beast, who blocks the attack and seems to grow more confident (+1 Level). Sir Poletad croaks a blast of righteous light, which hits the beast (-4), and Haldor, barely alive prays to the gods and receives a miracle, healing his entire party to perfect health. It is becoming quite an in crowd who gives and receives clues. Perhaps we can spread the wealth.

Round 1 Chaos Beast of Zoot Battle Dyric - Chaos (6) Tensi - Shield Skrall - Chaos (1) Felton - Critical Hit Sir Poletad - Miss Haldor - Chaos (2) The battle commences. Dyric begins by throwing his knife, which whizzes by the Chaos Beast, but seems to sharpen (+1 WP). Tesni bellows, and all her quest mates feel encouraged in the upcoming battle. Skrall begins to load an arrow, but the Beast bashes his face with the tip of one of his weapons (-8). Felton dances towards the beast and slices him in the leg. A unearthly scream, like thousands of yells all at once, escapes the beast as black liquid gushes out (-16). Sir Poletad hops around madly, too afraid to enter the fight, and Haldor swings his rod, but his stomach is caught by the head of one of the beast's axes. His guts pour forward, his eyes roll back, and he lands on the floor in a puddle of growing blood. "I apologize, time travel seems to have thrown my head for a loop. What an unwelcome welcoming. Guard B, let's dance." Boomingham unsheathes his first sword, King of the Desert, and swings it at his opponent from the front row.

Challenge Begin. I'm aware that I have a hole in the top of my head. I learned about a technique when I traveled to Alaska, it allows all the good thoughts to come in. I am a very open-minded person... no pun intended...
-
Boomingham turns to Nyx. "Thank you, my dearest. This is important to me. I wish you the best of luck." Boomingham embraces her and kisses her on the forehead. Before he releases her he whispers in her ear. "Be careful. I do not trust the brothers any more than I trust the assassins. You and Marvelo have proven to me not all mages are awful, but that doesn't mean there aren't awful mages. When at their worst... they can top orcs with their evils. I do not want anything to happen to you. I was originally going to stay behind... but it is not important that I go." Boomingham lets Nyx go from his crushing embrace and turns to the brothers. "I am ready to depart. How far back are we going? How long may we remain? Is there a way to leave someone in the past permanently?"

I agree. If Betty turns up innocent, at least she's not a virgin and it will gain us a lot of information. These cultists are dolts. Vote: Betty Swallocks (TinyPiesRUs)

Hey, rebounds would be fun to watch too.

Boomingham hisses to Marvelo. "I didn't want to come. The little pip-squeak on my shoulder signed me up and he refuses to explain why." "He told me not to talk," explains Barty to Marvelo, but is silenced by a look from Boomingham. "These are the types of mages I do not like and do not trust. I refuse to be left behind with one of them. If our party is going back in time I must be there to protect them. Communicate this to the others. Until we are out of range of-" Boomingham suddenly stops speaking. Mid-sentence his face falls drastically and his eyes water up. He stands extremely rigidly. Strange gulping noises begin. Barty whizzes around his face, flashing small bursts of light, but Boomingham does not respond. Clearly his mind is on something. He snaps out of it very suddenly by swatting Barty to the floor. His voice is still a whisper, but it is now a hiss of anger and disgust. He addresses Barty first. "I hope that you are not as intelligent as you appear." Barty cowers on the floor, not responding. Boomingham turns to Marvelo. "I am not staying back. I am seeing how this spell works." He raises his voice and opens it up to the other party members. "I will not remain here. Whoever does doesn't matter to me as long as it is not me." Boomingham then closes his eyes, clears his throat, and shuffles off. Barty hovers slightly off the ground and follows after him, not raising to his shoulder.
-
And, in fairness, Boomingham didn't sign up for the Quest, Barty signed him up without warning him.
-
Boomingham steps forward and gives a small, smart salute, very restrained, very clean. "The name is Boomingham. I am a Paladin." He steps back into line and stands with a straight face. Barty hovers nervously on his shoulder.

I do have to say that I love that about Skrall, I think it's funny and a great character every time he says some middle-aged working man quote. It is what makes Skrall such a unique and good character. And just pulling one of the things I've heard that is great. I love all the back-stories, and I really do think some characters are extremely strong. I won't list them because I'll drop someone, but I will say that there are quite a few I really want to quest with because I really do want to reveal at least some of Boomingham's back-story and none of the characters he's quested with have pulled it out of him yet (not a slight to those characters, they just happen to not be the characters to do it). And now I get to develop a whole new character in Barty! Sandy gave me a gift with her minor introduction, and I have only a few plans for him so far, so I'm excited to see what happens with him.
