  8. OoC: I think it will become clear after we run a round. That being said, I realized I made a mechanical error. Those who are entangled SHOULD be listed in the battle order and WILL take damage from free hits/splash damage. Otherwise if you are all entangled, it will be to your advantage. I have edited the first post to attempt to make things more clear, and will run a round 4-6 hours from now.

OoC: I actually read it in the reverse, and assumed he meant only consumables but not equipment, which is why I was surprised when you claimed that Throlar had his Mopagsaber, but I decided to let it be read that way if it helped you all. As always, I will trust wiz to be honest and will go with whatever he clarifies, assuming that he is clarifying what he meant, not what works best for him now.

Yeah, have to agree this is one of the first Ideas Sets that really appeals to me - it's a wonderful build, pretty interested to see where they take it, and happy to see something original as I feel that they're mostly licensed stuff (though I only follow them loosely, so that is only a feeling).

OoC: Yeah, didn't feel I needed to specify just because of the fact that they didn't have health sort of made it clear they weren't "combatants" - but should never leave things ambiguous, so that was on me. And yes he doesn't count as targeting enemies, just like a bomb doesn't stop free hits. He can still "be directed" at enemies, it just doesn't prevent them from getting a free hit if he's the only one, since (as Sandy oft points out) there is no way for them to trigger specials or damages, so they get a free hit. Also, Cedric gave back all the equipment at the end of the last encounter...

They should not be treated as if they will absorb hits or like they can "target opponents" (though Barkley can). Mechanically, they are essentially items that you can use without spending an action.

You're a friend of Gerald Guffington's crew - U'Or, Daneeka, Elba... what was your name again?" "That's right. Captain Lane at your service." He offers his hand to Throlar and turns to the ship's Captain. "Sounds like we've got ample reason to do a random check of the ship. Step aside." "Don't mind doing it," says the Captain brusquely. "Not opposed to having myself checked, just wanted to make sure it was by the proper authorities." The heroes, Johnny Everyman, Solimon, and Parvati, accompanied by Captain Lane and his dog, all follow the Captain aboard. "We're about to find ourselves in the middle of some nasty business," says Everyman to Cedric. "I've been part of a million and one schemes but slaving is something totally different. Ain't too many friendly faces in the slaving game." "Thank you for your help, Matthias," says Parvati. "I can tell. We've almost got her." "That the thing we're following?" asks Captain Lane, peering over at Darkstan's magic compass as it leads the party through the ship's corridors. Turning to Darkstan: "It's 800 gold for a cabin aboard the ship. They're sizable, good for a traveling group or for storage with a few guards. But I'm all booked up for this trip. Now, unless you've got something else to say, I suggest you beat it." "What's going on here?" asks a Captain as he approaches. His dog barks merrily at the party.

The heroes make their way down to the shipping yards and follow Darkstan's compass to a ship called The Bounty - the ship name corresponding with the one in the Dock master's log. There can be no doubt that this is their ship. Solimon begins to walk a gangplank, but a rough voice calls out to them. "Can I help you?" asks the Captain, approaching. "We'll need to search your ship. We believe you have a friend of our's aboard." "Not going to happen. My passengers pay for their privacy, and for the privacy of their supplies too. Only people licensed to check ships are Bonapartes. You a Bonaparte?" What will the heroes do?
  18. Yeah, huge congrats on this. Love the beard - uses pieces really well to develop something that looks very organic/patchy/grown. The arms are great use too - nice the way that they are sculpted, but don't stick out because of how well they're implemented. Really brings things to another level. I love the belt buckle too - so sleek and simple but really beautiful choice - easily defines the legs and the pants. Fantastic build, truly stunning.
  19. The Dockmaster takes the mulled wine and after a moment of reticence drinks a healthy portion of it. He smacks his lips together. "Much better," he says sleepily as he passes the book over to Throlar and Cedric. They both feel more experienced for having dealt with the dock master in a friendly manner. The two are able to pour over the book and discern that there is only one non-Bonaparte ship departing from the port in the upcoming week. Darkstan's compass, meanwhile, swings to a specific boat, and it probably wouldn't be too surprising if that was where the heroes were headed. "It seems we are almost done."
  20. "Quiet down, won't you?" The Dockmaster rubs his forehead. "This book is the shipping logs, and they're not anyone's business but *huk* mine. And the Bonapartes are in charge of these docks, *huk* not the City Watch." "Since we are having poor luck being his enemies, perhaps we might try being his friends," muses Solimon. "It is much easier to ask a favor than demand something."
  21. "No!" The merman hiccups again. "I went out last night, that's all. And I've got a bit of a headache now." He turns pale at Matthias' mention of slavers. "We don't allow slavers out of this bay. There are a number of ships headed to the High Kingdoms, but that's not really anyone's business but their own..." he covers a heavy book with one of his hands. OoC: It is a dagger... Throlar glances around the office and finds that it is relatively sparse, save for a few empty bottles that have apparently been there for a while, as the remaining liquor in them has turned to a syrup. Darkstan sees a great number of ships, but it is impossible to tell from where they are who the ships belong to or where they might be headed.
  22. Boomingham wipes the goo from Scupperer before returning it to its sheath. He blinks a few times, trying to straighten out his mind. He flaps his lips, trying to come up with something to say to the Orcs, but he can't, so he instead turns to Soryx. "Thank you for your assistance. Like the big boy said, you need help in Eubric, you know where to find us. Go in peace, brother of Pseudos, or whatever the Hel we call each other."
  23. I'm also perfectly happy to keep going, and as long as the duty was spread around I'd be happy to do a portion of the administrative stuff. I even had some ideas of how to cover some of the Sandy mythology that I knew was coming. And @Sandy (this feature will be used and abused!) thank you so much for the years of fantastic games. Hopefully you can step down as Game Manager but stay on as an active player - I don't know if you know this, but Heroica is pretty fun when you don't have to worry about all this extra junk! Obviously do what you'd like, but I think we'd all love to continue to host Ellaria and Quintessa if they stick it out.

The Bonapartes wouldn't ever allow slavers aboard, so you can safely check off any ship belonging to them. Good luck." The heroes make their way out of the Hovels and down to the docks. There isn't so much time for talking as they bustle down the streets, aware of the ticking clock. Down at the docks they make their way into the Dock Master's office. "What's all this, huk." The Dockmaster hiccups and then blushes as he covers his mouth.

It seems like I just got lucky that time through - I think if you format off a picture that was already there it'll go back to the old line system (it happened in my most recent post too) but if not it still goes with the new one. The mods said they wanted to fix it, but that it is low on their list of priorities, which seems fine to me. It's a pain for us, but I can understand how it's not such a big issue on the rest of the site.
