  1. Boomingham's sword is still drawn. He steps forward. "Masson, are you capable of fighting? Dragon, you'll be with us too. Surely you won't mind executing a few more Oculoids before you depart for Dastan." Boomingham stares down the Oculoid chief, almost bored. "We have already faced a great number of things today that claimed they were more fearsome than we could handle, and we have yet to be stopped."
  2. Hello all! I'm back. Updates will be coming in the next few hours. I'm mimicking your slower pace in some quests. Because I admire it.
  3. Hey all, leaving for another weekend without wi-fi. 102 and 107 will continue as normal due to the generosity of Flipz. In 110, CMP may act/speak for Bobby. In 105, Kinto or Em may act/speak for Boomingham. Thanks for bearing with me, everyone! This is my final weekend without wi-fi (as far as I know) and both 102 and 107 are in their final stages. (Though I feel I've been saying that about 102 for a while now. ) EDIT: And 107, I'm sorry for rushing you. I didn't want to leave for the weekend without giving you something to do.

  5. OoC: I am leaving for the same cabin without wi-fi in just about an hour, so CMP may control Bobby if anything needs to be said.
  6. Boomingham steps forward confidently and attempts to peel the parasite off. "Do not cross me, Dragon," he says. Barty pops into existence to keep at eye on the dragon while Boomingham is lowered over Masson. The little angel crosses his arms and glowers menacingly.
  7. "I am blind," cries the Chaomancer sadly. "The visions are all I see. Even before my eyes now I see them." Tears trickle down his cheeks. "Death is everywhere. I see you all in the now, in the past, in the future, killing or dead." The Chaos Beasts lunge forward as Nerwen presses the attack. 8. OoC: Pandora, I am well aware you have your hands full at the moment!! So, as always, I will be moving things along for everyone else, but if you retro-actively wish to select some books to salvage, that's a-okay with me. No worries either way. "I've already found my books, Daneeka. I'll take Hybros to the history book, you find some books that interest you." Daneeka nods, and Heweyrt begins to lead Hybros down a series of shelves. In a far corner, they can hear some rustling as someone sifts through books. They round a corner, and find Deborah, attempting to reach a book on a tall shelf. Heweyrt nods to her, and continues to lead Hybros in another direction. Eventually he comes to a stop, and picks up an old tome. He begins to skim it. "This land was once harsh and wild," he begins to summarize. "And there were creatures here. The Paladins, the conquerers, called them demons. These Paladins had not yet forged their bond with Ennoc - though they would later. So they had no angels to ward off the demons. The fighting was bloody and fierce. The so-called demons knew how to use ancient magic of forest and earth, and the Paladins could not defeat them. So their chief mages worked on a magic similar to that of the dragon's." Heweyrt pauses, and looks up from the book. "When a dragon dies, it may use its soul to complete a final act. It is an ancient ability." He returns to the book. "At the cost of their soul, the Paladins were able to vanquish the indigenous people to the realm of the demons. To Zoot's realm." Heweyrt snaps the book shut. He scowls. "Such is the cost of progress sometimes. But it does not make the past any less bloody. It is too often that one race feels they must destroy the other to prosper. The new always kills the old." "Come here!" echoes Daneeka's voice throughout the Library. Heweyrt tosses the book to Hybros and they follow the voice, finding a different exit to the Library. They are on a city street: the other heroes, Deborah, and the Minoid arrive behind them in the matter of a minute. Before them stands Daneeka, a statue, and a set of large black doors. Bits of swirling darkness spill through the doors, and as they approach, the heroes can hear whispering from far off. Nyx, Skrall and Hybros all feel a shiver run down their spine. The doors are identical to ones they've seen before. Even in this dark place, hidden below all they know... even here there are doors to the realm of Chaos. "This statue stands eternal guard over the passageway," Daneeka says, reading the inscription. "This is where they vanquished the original peoples of this land," says Heweyrt. "What say you, heroes. Shall we peek into the darkness and find a lost race?"
  9. "A move and the child dies. She knows it." Boomingham keeps his eyes locked on Masson. "Either that, or she's willing to go to any lengths to return you to your normal self. Listen, this is decision time. What matters more to you, your puppet master, or your wife and child? Surely you, of all people, should know that someone who's brain has been turned is no longer themselves. Masson is not dead, only buried. I will stab her shortly if you do not return to us, or at least leave this Citadel and remain outside until the Regret is dead. What matters to you most?"
  10. "How did we get down here, Hybros? I was drilling, a witch appeared, and I went to another world before reappearing here. I do not know how to reverse-engineer that process. I do not know where our drill is, and there was no hole in the roof of the cavern when we awoke, as far as I could tell." Daneeka skims the list of books. "There is a history of the conquering of this land. The word conquering implies there were people here before whoever built all this. If what we saw in the forest was one of your people, they may have been the indigenous people of this land. I can direct you to that book."
  11. "The chaos will cleanse this island." Valentine's eyes grow wide. "You think the good is keeping the evil at bay? No. No. There is evil everywhere. I see no good. The chaos must come. Where is the good? There is none." He shakes his head. "I have seen too much, and wish to see no more. Who do you race off to face? How do you know they are bad, and you are good? Is there not just more death, death followed by death followed by death? What have you actually accomplished but more darkness, more evil, more chaos? Who will stop it? Who can stop it?" The party hears some rustling behind them, and see, standing still behind them a Chaos Beast, weapon at the ready. As they watch two more join him. The Beasts seem drawn to Valentine's anguish.
  12. 107, I dig all the role playing.
  13. "I can heal people just as well as Karie. Besides, she'd be fit as a flute soon enough. The only person in danger is the one who's not a hero. Besides, I came here with the mission of killing Masson Cour. You are not Masson Cour, so any steps I can take to returning Masson Cour to this plane will benefit my mission."
  14. Boomingham points his sword at Karie's belly. "Come with us, Masson. Search through whatever memories you've got left and tell me that I absolutely won't take away your child. I'm not saying it's likely, sure. But is that a gamble you want to take?" Boomingham winks at Masson.
  15. I am actually playing on a little bit of a trope that the game has developed. People keep going deeper and deeper into Olegia, so I thought I'd push it. I think it's a good story for Heroica to explore.
  16. "That's a whole lot of land for one man, but I'm down with whatever you want, boss." Bobby kicks some dirt. Most of this is going right over his head - he doesn't really get what all the fuss is about. "Yo, adventuring ain't anything like I thought it'd be."
  17. "No one knew there were cities lower than Nu Mercution. But now we do." Daneeka looks at the ceiling. "I wonder now how we are to return to the surface. I do not think we can bring this many books with us. We will have to read what we read. Everyone must find a book that they desire to bring back." "Heweyrt and I are both experts of ancient tongues, though these may even outdate our knowledge." "They don't," says Heweyrt, wandering around a corner. "Well, they do, but not entirely. These books are older than anything I've studied, but whatever language they're written in is a clear predecessor to some ancient tongues I do know. My translations may not be perfect, but they're certainly passable, and that's just at first glance." Heweyrt tosses a book to Daneeka. "That's a directory. Smart to keep it. I've already got a few books I'm taking with me, Deborah grabbing some more. History books, some religious beliefs." "These people are older than any we know. Imagine how far back their history may go. Perhaps we can learn of a civilization that came before the one that came before Nu Mercution. Perhaps they too have secrets." Daneeka opens the directory. For something so old, it seems to be in relatively good shape. "They must have preserved these books with a spell some how," he says. "Heroes, please, tell me what books you would like to find and return to the surface with. I imagine you can both carry two, perhaps three for Skrall." OoC: This is purely role-play. Sorry this is stretching out a bit! We're almost done.
  18. Really loving the rural Dastan, Khrone.
  19. "Can you control Chaos?" howls the man. "No. I am but a shepherd. My beasts look out for me, but I do not control them. I am the messenger. I am the prophet. This island is plagued and it must know it. There are wars. Many die. The Elves and Lion Knights kill each other, and for what? For nothing. In my dreams I see the flashes. I see the slaughters. But no one speaks of it. not two years past, still many families mourn, but the denizens of this island move on. The Pongcanis starve, are left to die, though they are more native to this island than most. And no one blinks an eye. I watch the Pongcanis shrivel to nothing in my dreams. The slaughter of Loush, not two years past either, and who speaks of it? Who mourns the dead? I see them in my dreams each night- see them in my nightmares. Swirling faces, cackling. So many dead, and so many forgotten. This island is a plague. You must leave, or I will force you out, for your own good. Can you not see the evil?"
  20. "How'd you get greedy from that?" wonders Boomingham with a chuckle. "Not that I'm not, but-" he throws up his hands- "guess I'm a poor actor." "Ah, the Stealer." Boomingham draws his blade. "Is it time for our duel, Masson? Or are you here to tell us how scary the Regret is some more, and then disappear in a puff of smoke?"
  21. "I've got a sword right here, those chains can't be all that powerful." Boomingham shrugs. "What do you say, dragon? Want to go free?"
  22. "Surely you could make that argument for anything, Hybros. You must choose to believe." "I came looking for forgotten secrets, Ellaria. This is a forgotten secret. What did you come looking for that has left you unsatisfied?" And Daneeka glances at the building, into which Deborah and Heweyrt have already vanished. "What did you all come looking for? Are you on a quest to defeat evil once more, heroes? That is not what I requested. I wish only to learn, and we learn each day. I consider this a success regardless of what we find here." The Minoid listens to the numerous explanations as to where they may be. Its machinery clanks and then dings. "STATEMENT: Heweyrt and the Doctor input into my systems the general depths assumed for Dastan, the Temple of Zoot, and Nu Mercution. STATEMENT: We are-" it pauses, ticking a few times more: "below all of the estimated depths. STATEMENT: This rested below Nu Mecution. STATEMENT: The ceiling above is leaking water. STATEMENT: We are below the sea." The heroes, armed with this strange new knowledge, venture forward. Inside the building Deborah and Heweyrt vanished into they find... towering shelves. Endless books. They are in a library.
  23. Boomingham drags a foot across the ground, impatient to get moving. The Cour family history bores him.
  24. "I'm only ever dangerous when I need to be," says Malty sheepishly. "But yes, we're more than able to defend ourselves." "I help those creatures into the world!" says the man. "They are the symptoms of Uland's darkness, and unless they are heard Uland will never be cured. There is so much darkness here, and no one does anything about it. My mind froths. War, terror, strife, famine - I see all these things. I see the chaos. But no one does anything to control it, to channel it. I am Valentine the Chaomancer, and I am here to bring order to the chaos, so that it may flourish. Chaos is a tool, but on this island, it runs rampant, and this island suffers for it. Now, as I said, flee. Or this land will consume you, as it has consumed so many others." "No better than worse than most days," says Pigley. "Nothing frightens Sir Russel Ruffers - but thank you for your concern, m'lady." Russel bows awkwardly atop Sir Pigley.
  25. "Yo, y'all should be homies. He ain't the best guy, but he ain't the worst guy, and he's got some stuff to say about how y'all should be living. I don't know what's true and what's not but you should listen, you hear?" Bobby turns to Dean. "Yo man, you're on."
