Same here, but then I thought 'well, it used to be like this years ago anyway', but we've just gotten soft Still, an awesome set, and now that I've completed it I definately think its one of the best builds I've done to date.

Hurrah! Mine came yesterday! /jig What a great set this is. I have to say, it took me roughly 3 hours to build the minifigs, accesories, and Blacksmith's, but that was with my two year old son 'helping', and the fact that I'd emptied the bads into a big tub to avoid spillage. Probably added two hours on to the process by doing that! The Inn gets done tonight

Ooh, thats a tough question. I suppose it depends on which faction your after the most. If your a Crownie fan, then definatley King's Castle Seige. Plenty of able-soldiers to add to your collection. If its Trolls you're after, go the 2x Tower Raid route. I love the Seige Tower in this set, by far one of the coolest models for the Troll faction (not counting the Warship, of course...). But then, you wouldn't have a decent Castle for the Trolls to lay seige too... Just buy both :D

I love this set. I picked it up when I visited Legoland Windsor last year. The Troll faction is one of my favourites I think, and this set is great. I love the Crownie Dragon Rider though. I want a squadron of them! :D Great review!

I remember buying this set as a kid. I loved it. The shield, the feathers, the Knight in general. Those were great times for Castle fans. The introduction of the Wolf People faction really fired my imagination when they were released. Great review!

Drawbridge Defence looks to me like a rehash of 6078-1: Royal Drawbridge. Can't wait to see real pics though. Looking forward to the Troll Fortress.

I ordered this on Christmas Day I think, and my order status changed today to 'shipped'. Hopefully should be seeing this in the next few days.

I'm really looking forward to Lego Universe. I'm a big MMO fan (playing SWG, WoW and LotrO), and I'm really keen to see how they've implemented a Lego based MMO. As for the subscription fee's, I fully expect there to be such a charge, as thats the accepted model for 90% of the MMO's out there (discounting Guild Wars). And, IMO, thats fine, as its a way to ensure we get good content updates regularily (in theory). It's much easier to do with a steady stream of cash coming into the coffers.

7666 Hoth Rebel Base in UK again
KurttKrueger replied to brickbitz's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
For those who live in the Dudley - West Midlands area, Toys R Us Merry Hill had some in staock as of yesterday. Unfortunatly, I'm on a Lego ban after last weeks trip to LL Windsor -
Aww, my Crown Knight force looks small now in comparison to all of yours. Anyway, here it is: My favourite unit is the Armoured Dragon. I love that guy. I also have a Troll force of comparitive size, though haven't the room to set it up at the moment (my wife will kill me if I do :D).

Just to add to this, I picked up the Troll Warship set at Legoland Windsor last week (that place rocks, btw) and my Knight's helm also has the elongated 'nose'.

But I am but a humble soldier, in the same way you are a humble servant. I think your paranoia is playing on you my friend, as I have never maid (geddit?) any accusations against you, Mike the Servant. Please, check my input into the accusations and prove me wrong. You do seem very touchy though... What was the Friar coming to see you about?
-
What I want to know is, why was the good Friar coming from the servants quaters? Had he been to see Mike and the Chef in order to get their stories right to absolve their involvement in the kings death? Or maybe the Friar had been to blackmail one of the above, using his trusted position as a priest to hear the confessions of the castle inhabitants? Could that have been why someone attempted to kill the friar from above?
-
I've always considered them as seperate factions with their own goals and aims. For example, despite the similarities between their faction symbols, the Black Knights and Dragon Knights have always had a very different look and style.

Gah! I can't get the stench off fish out of my uniform. Cures that fish seller and his murderous ways!!! Vote: Calvin the Fisherman

Just a quick /bump to this topic, as I've actually built the designed addition to the Castle, and have added new pics to the first post. Cheers, Kurtt

Well, my roll in the Castle has been identified, I am Fred the soldier, a loyal Guard of the Keep. In my duties as a guard, I clearly remember seeing Calvin the fisherman lurking in the corriders before my duty shift ended at nightfall... (OOC: Sorry for the lack of postage, I'm honestly finding it really hard to keep up with these threads, you guys are post crazy :D)

Best. Set. Ever. That is all :D

I have an urgent report for the Lord Dragonator! As part of my duties as a Guard of the Keep, during my patrol this morning I noticed an overpowering smell of fish in the corridor outside of the General's Quarters... What could this mean sire? /salute

My first Castle set was also this one: Before this, I'd inherited a boat load of castle mini figs and parts (wall sections and weapons and such) from an older cousin, so I was well into castle long before I actually got round to buying my first set. It kind of snowballed from there :D We were always strapped for cash when we were kids, so I used to try and recreate all the sets I wanted but could never afford. Ah, halcyon days :)

Heh, I never thought of that. Thankfully, I missed the whole KK debacle :D

LEGO officially calls Troll warriors "Orcs"!
KurttKrueger replied to astoriabluelegos's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Have to agree with whats been said so far, Orc is not a copyrighted word. Tolkien invented it as part of his Quenya lexicon. But, every fantasy genre has used it in some form or another since then, mainly games like Warhammer Fantasy (which was using it waaaaaay before Warcraft had been created :D). I'm undecided on what to call them. I wanna say Orc, but my blind loyalty to TLG makes me say Troll :P -
Thanks for the kind comments so far folks. I'd love to build a Forestmen MoC. I'm thinking along the lines of an actual forest, rather than a base of operations. Maybe do a cart track running through a Forestmen controlled area. Think Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves meets the Ewok Village :D

The new one is King's Castle Siege (7094). I'll add the set number to the title so all you old folks don't get upset (even though I'm one of em! :D). I'll also try and create the bit of the castle it attaches to to give you a more rounded out idea of what I'm trying to do.
-
So having been inspired by Dr S's (think it was him) extended King's Castle 7094, I thought I'd have a go myself. I managed to pick up another King's Castle set with a few missing pieces the other day off ebay, so as soon as that comes, I'll have enough spare parts to start construction. In the mean time, I've designed what I want to achieve using LDD. Here are the screenshots of what I've come up with so far: Obviously, I've had to improvise when it comes to the castle wall elements, and the battlement elements, as they don't appear to be in LDD. As far as I've worked out, the bridge should connect with the King's tower. The main aim of it is to be a wizards tower of sorts. Obviously, the real thing will have more detail added to it. Not sure what to do with the middle room in the tower, hence the addition of the ladder. I'll probably just use it as a guard room. I just felt as though the castle needed beefing up somewhat. Hopefully, this goes some way to solving the problem. Please let me know what you think anyway. EDIT: Well, I managed to pick up another brand new King's Castle Siege off of eBay for 38 quid, as it was missing two of the BURP's, so I've been able to build the above. Here are some picks of it in the flesh, so to speak: And a couple of piccies of it attached to the castle: And finally, a comparison shot of the new wall and as it comes with the set: I'm pretty pleased with the result. All I need to do now is pick up a Good Wizard set so I can kit out the Wizards tower properly :) C&C, as always, is welcome.
