Not sure if this has already been posted, but Toy Story sets are now available from Argos in the UK. Managed to pick up Woody and Buzz to the Rescue and Army Men on Patrol today. They're not in the catalogue yet, but they are available online, and you can obtain the 7 digit Argos code online and order in store, or reserve online. Seems as though they have the whole first wave in stock.

Excellent review! I loved Ice Planet, and it was one of the space themes I played with as a kid. We could never afford the bigger stuff, so thanks for the great review. Incidently, Commander Cool was Commander Bear in the UK (sorry if someone else has highlighted that, haven't read through the thread yet!).

Yeah, I'm going for a town house look myself. I'm a little daunted by what I see on offer, but I'm just going to go with the flow. The ebay junk fund is growing, so I envision I'll be able to place and order for one of the modular houses on shop@home in the next week or so. In the meantime, I've started playing around with LDD, using the templates in the above article. I'll post what I've come up with so far later on, though I find I'm somewhat limited by the parts selection.

Guys, this is excellent stuff, and thanks for the translation metalgearsolid. I'm going to start small on something like a townhouse, then go from there I think.

@Rick: Thats an excellent little article, even if I can only understand the pictures. A nice basis to start from anyway. Thanks very much! @Cwetqo: I'm not too worried about the price of Cafe Corner and Green grocer at the moment, as both still seem to be available on Shop@Home for the UK. I'm not to sold on the design of Market Street, so was planning on skipping it anyway. Thanks for the input so far guys!

Greetings folks, Just wondered if anyone had put together a beginners guide to modular housing? I've been collecting Lego on and off for the past 25 years, and have come to the realisation that instead of just buying sets, building them and displaying them, I want to start getting in to serious MOCing. The theme I most want to focus on is Town. So, I'll be picking up Cafe Corner and Green Grocer, and possibly Fire Department early next year (currently raising funds by ebaying junk) to make a start, but I want to also start expanding my parts collection to be able to build structures of this nature as well. Can anyone suggest online resources that contain a sort of 'how to' guide to get me started in this style of building? The plan is to build the three above sets and then make a start, but a little guidance would be appreciated. I did a search for the above, but couldn't find anything meaningful, however, I know my search-fu is weak. Cheers, Kurtt

LEGO Collectible Minfigures Series 1 Poll
KurttKrueger replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Really psyched for these little guys. Amazingly, my wife doesn't seem to mind the idea of me picking these up for myself and my son everytime we go shopping! Now I just need to hope they sell them in my area. -
REVIEW: 7078 King's Battle Chariot
KurttKrueger replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Nice review. I haven't been too sold on this set, purely as I haven't seen it as something worth adding to my collection before. Now that I've seen the King in more detail, I think I'll be picking it up now. He's a nice upgrade to the King/s that I already have from King's Castle Siege. -
Excellent review there starstreak. I'm a big fan of the new Space Police line, as I grew up on the original. I love the new helmet and the nod to the original SPI sets with the red visor. Will be picking this one up for sure.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures General Discussion
KurttKrueger replied to Nabii's topic in Special LEGO Themes
An awesome idea from Lego this one. They know how to appeal to my inner pokemon collector. However, I really can't see the information about random parts in each polybag being accurate. If the first wave is out in June, and the second in August (if I've read it right), then theres no way someone could collect them all through regular means if this is the case. I'll wager its one complete fig plus accessories per bag. Either way, will still pick a few up! -
I'm liking the look of that. I'm particularly interested how your going to do the back of the fighter, as I've been thinking about that for the midi-minifig scale version I plan on doing. Meditate on this, I will.

Wow, really nice job with that. Makes me wonder whether I should just do the same. Thanks for sharing the pics with us :)

I'd love to see what you've come up with so far. Dateman's brickshelf folder certainly contains some inspiration, thats for sure. I'll probably break down the 10188 Tie Advance and use the parts to experiment with the design. It would be nice to have Vader's two wingmen!

Greetings folks, Just thought I'd pop a quick post up to get your opinions on idea I've had. I've just finished building my 10188 Death Star tonight (that set is made of pure win), and got to thinking of the Tie Advance that comes with the set. What I'd like to do is build a couple of additional Tie Fighters in the same scale. I'm not sure if this has been done before, as a quick search didn't come up with anything specific, but I thought it would add a nice bit of extra playability (not that it needs it) to the set, especially if X-Wings could be done in the same way. If any of you have already done this, I'd love to see your creations. To my mind, it should just be a simple conversion on the existing Tie Advance. Also, just thought I'd mention that I'm relatively new to Lego Star Wars. Picked up a few of the first releases back in 1999, but haven't done much with SW Lego since. However, I recently had a life laundry, selling all my old junk, and put the funds toward the Death Star. Boy, is that the biggest and best set I've ever built! I figured, as a mainly OT fan, I don't need to buy another SW set again :P What I'm trying to say is, you guys intimidate me, so please be gentle! :) Cheers, Kurtt

James May to build life size lego house!
KurttKrueger replied to allanp's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'm considering it. Not quite sure whats involved. Surely inviting that many AFOL's down in one place will result in BIC's? (Build Idea Conflicts. I just made it up :P) -
My Galactic Enforcer arrived on Thursday, and its an awesome set. Really enjoyed the build, and love the chunkiness of the ship. I also received Space Truck Getaway at the same time. While visually very impressive, it feels a bit flimsy. Still, both cracking sets, and the SP3 line is awesome. Next stop: Hyperspeed Pursuit!

Awesome set, awesome review. This is going to be my next Lego purchase for sure.

Agreed about the Drawbridge Defense. This is definatly one of my top wants this year. If Space Police doesn't come to the UK as rumoured, it will be my top want. Why are you struggling to pick up the Medieval Marketplace? Is it EU only? Cheers, Kurtt

Thanks for the feedback so far folks. I'll think I'll take Svelte_copr's suggestion above and compile a wanted list on Bricklink and order it seperatly. Once thing I noticed though, is there doesn't seem to be the instrcutions for this set on PCSL. Obviously, I'll need a copy of the instructions to get the right parts, but I'm suprised that they haven't been scanned. Does anyone know if they're available online? If not, I'm happy to purchase a set, its not like they're expensive. One more thing on the subject of Batman. Has Robin's cycle ever been released in any Batman sets? Cheers, Kurtt

Greetings folks, Sorry for the somewhat misleading title, this is not a thread about be re-building the Batmobile, but rather a thread about re-creating it from individually bought parts. Basically, I've really got into the Lego Batman theme, partly due to the Lego Batman game, and mostly because I'm a comics nut. Of course, I would have to do this after TLC took their current line off sale... So I've been trawling the net looking for set 7781 (Batmobile: Two Face's Escape), as if I'm not going to be able to collect the entire range, I'd at least like the Batmobile. However, due to the highly collectable nature of the Batman sets, the current prices for sealed or used 7781 sets are extortionate. My question is then, would it be possible to buy the components needed to build just the Batmobile individually from Bricklink or pick-a-brick? Do you think I'd hit any walls with unique/hard to find pieces? Can anyone who owns the set shed some light onto this? Are the pieces mostly standard, or is this going to be a futile excercise to begin with? Thanks in advance for your help! Cheers, Kurtt

I suspect this is why I've just forked out £15 for Batman and Robin minifigs via Bricklink. I would kill for a Batmobile and Batcycle :( Ah well, will keep watching Bricklink/Ebay for a good deal.

Well, its not all bad news at least. I didn't realise there was a Smyths in Walsall. I'm not a million miles from there, so might have a trip over this afternoon, wife-willing :D Sad news about Space Police 3 though. Looks like I'll have to pick some of those sets up off ebay. Cheers, Kurtt

Greetings folks, Just thought I'd put a post up commenting on an odd trend I've noticed in my local Lego stockists in the UK. Since the new year, and perhaps sometime before, I've noticed that all of the major Lego stockists in my town, Wolverhampton, have either stopped stocking Lego, or dramatically reduced their stock. This includes chains such as The Entertainer and Toys R Us, as well as Woolworths going bump. I figured this may well be a case of stock depletion due to the Christmas rush, and have since checked regularily to see if they have restocked. However, I find that the shelf space once devoted to Lego has since been filled with inferior products (e.g. Anything not Lego). Has anyone noticed this occuring in their local area in the UK? I'm really looking forward to a number of sets this year, and I fear I won't be able to get hold of them in the traditional way. Yes, I know I can get them online, but nothing beats actually walking into a shop and choosing which box of Lego goodness you going to buy! I look forward to hearing your views on this. Cheers, Kurtt

I'm loving the look of Drawbridge Defence. That will be my top priority of 2009 methinks. That Golden Knight looks like he'll be pearl gold, which is awesome. I'll also pick up the Troll Fortress at some point too. I noticed that the Troll King doesn't have a crown yet. Perhaps they haven't finalised the design of it? If only the new Space Police stuff didn't look so cool...
