  1. Hmm, maybe your right with the gold rule. I really need to play a 'campaign' of Heroica, with multiple missions linked together, with weapons and items carrying over. I'm sure the gold gain will level out then. Thanks for the responses though, very helpful.
  2. I picked up Castle Fortaan yesterday, and have to say, I'm loving Heroica so far. However, I have a question or two regarding some of the rules, and wonder if you guys could give me your opinions on it? In Fortaan, there's a treasure room of sorts, that houses a potion, gold and treasure chest in one quest, and the helm in another. What rules do you guys use for the doorway with the black gate/grate? Same as a regular locked door? Also, when moving to an adjacent square to a locked door, if you have movement left, can you open the door with a key if you have one and continue through to the other side? Or does the act of unlocking the door end your movement for that turn? How would you play it? The only other slight issue I have is gold collection during single missions is quite slow. I may introduce the following rule: On defeating an enemy, you loot 1 gold piece from the monsters corpse. If equiped with a Dagger, or if you are a Thief, you may loot 2 gold pieces from the corpse. What do you think? Cheers, Dan
  3. Swoon! This is GREAT news. I will be buying everyone of these sets for sure.
  4. They used the wrong Leia. Other than that, this rocks.
  5. Nice review. I'm planning on picking up a smaller set, but as I've just dropped a small fortune on Classics Ultra Magnus and City Commander armour (TF fans will know what I'm talking about here), I'm banned from buying TF stuff for a while! :D
  6. I'm a big Transformers fan also, but I can't get over my 'Lego Clone' prejudice I'm afraid, I'm a Lego fan first and foremost. It does rankle me that they seem to have knocked off so many of Lego's elements. I wonder if this is the knock on effect of Lego not being able to copyright their brick designs?
  7. Heroica is one of my most anticipated themes of 2011. As a Warhammer player of old, I'm really looking forward to sinking my teeth into these and coming up with some homebrew rules for them. I appreciate that its not to the same complexity as Heroquest, but we'll soon fix that! Did I hear someone mention that these won't be available in the UK until August? Ouch if so, I can't wait to get hold of these...
  8. Greetings folks, I'm looking at getting some new storage for my built display sets. What do you guys use for display purposes? I've been looking at the Expedit system of storage from IKEA, but I think I might be limiting myself in terms of the size of the set I can display (the Death Star fits in nothing!). Also, is it worth keeping the boxes to the sets I've bought? My wife is going nuts about the fact that our loft is filling up with Lego boxes. Will it increase their value at a later date? Cheers, Kurtt
  9. I am loving all of these Kingdoms sets. The more civilian themed sets, the better in my opinion. Now I can expand my Medieval Market Village with the Farm and Blacksmiths. A proper little hamelt. Also love love love the mounted Dragon Knight with Barding. Gah, now I need to go buy the rest of the existing Kingdoms line!
  10. I've gone and realised that Lego are about to release a theme that I want every single set from. That has not happened in some time...
  11. Wow, how did I miss this for so long?! I'll definately be picking this theme up, if only to intergrate it into the wider Lego Space Universe. More aliens for SPIII to apprehend! :D My 4 year old son is going to go nuts when he see's these ;)
  12. I loved/love Futuron. I've been working on an update for them on and off for the last year (work and family life permitting). See my sig for a taster :D With the release of series 3 minifigures, I want to start on a revamped Blacktron theme now :D
  13. This one was the first Exo-Force mech I got (along with the Grand Titan was it?). We were on holiday, my wife was pregnant with our first child and therefore slept most of the time, so I bought these two sets to pass the time. Come to think of it, these brought me out of my Dark Ages! Cheers, K
  14. Anyone seen this yet (posted up on Brickset)? http://www.flickr.co...ton/5139679688/ Two very tasty looking Space minifigs in there! Can anyone say new Space helmet in black and trans-yellow visor? Blacktron Ho! Cheers, K
  15. Wow. Just wow. Always been a massive pirates fan (with the originals coming out when I was a kid), but I love the idea of PotC Lego. Even if its for the plethora of new coloured parts we'll get to use for a classic Pirate mocs!
  16. That's an awesome little scene Sir Gecko! I love how you've achieved the broken class effect.
  17. Noooooo!!! I can't stress how much Space Police Central is a great set. I bought it a few weeks back, and have had great fun playing with it with my son. Don't get me wrong, the Lunar Limo is awesome also (also picked it up recently), but try and get SPC as soon as you can.
  18. These are awesome as ever Doctor S! They're almost comforting me in my grief at Doctor Who Season 5 having come to an end! Keep up the good work.
  19. I just got hold of Lunar Limo yesterday. What a fantastic set! Thoroughly enjoyed the build process, and was still suprised at how long it is, despite having read that it was. Very swooshable, and very awesome!
  20. As someone approaching 30 (only 6 months left to go... ), I well remember all Space themes, from Classic Space right through to Exploriens (the last Space theme I collected before my Dark Age began). I've collected and built a fair amount of the sets inbetween (except Unitron, none here in the UK), and can honestly say that I still think SP3 is one fo the best Space themes we've had to date. To say that 5973 is lacking because it has two ships in there as opposed to one is nuts, in my opinion (which is all it is). Instead of two poorly designed ships, we got two very well designed ships, both capturing diffrent elements and essences of space. I mean come on, one of them is a freakin space hotrod for crying out loud! Whats not to love?! As Nabii commented in a thread floating round here somewhere, the difference between SP3 and the sets of the 80's and 90's is we're not kids anymore, and that wonderous feeling of adventure and whimsy are gone. Sure, we're enthusiastic about Lego, we still love it to bits, but very few of us can summmon that childish imagination that fueled us so long ago. It all boils down to the fact that we've grown up. And to quote the 11th Doctor, 'You never want to do that.'. Just my ten pence worth.
  21. Black Rabbit, while I respect your opinion, I have to strongly disagree. SP3 has seen some of the most innovative starship designs seen in Lego Space to date! How can you not love The VX Falcon or the Skull Intercepter?! Sorry, had to jump in and wave the SP3 defense flag there! While I love Exo-Force, the mech creators clearly had issues with designing the backs of mech legs! For me, the worst Space theme has to be anything with 'Mars' in the title.
  22. SP3, and anything between 87 - 96. Does that count?
  23. The Lunar Limo is one of my favourite sets released in this wave. Gotta love the huge stretch effect its got going on. Next pay day, that bad boy is mine!
  24. Once again, thanks for another Unitron review Cardinal Brick! I'm not so taken with this set I'm afraid. The openness of the cockpits I can forgive, as that was a common foible of Space of this era. However, I don't like the way they've used varying wheel sizes, it makes it look odd and not as formidable to my eye. Also, from the side, it looks very basic and sparse. Once again, it just look plain and boring. Hmm, one thumbs up for Unitron, and one thumbs down from me! Lets see how the rest of the theme performs.
  25. SP3 isn't available through 3rd party retailers in the UK. Last year, they were down as a Lego shop exclusive, only available from Lego.com or brand stores (not Legoland etc). This year is looking to be the same. I have been advised by several Lego Direct staff that SP3 should now be available across the country, but I doubt it. My enquiries have hit a dead end so far. I'm waiting to see if they show up in the Autumn/Winter 2010 Argos Catalogue. If not, I guess its another noshow. So far, all my SP3 sets have come from Lego.com or Bluewater. However, as has been pointed out, they are available throughout the rest of Europe and the US, so I'm sure they've sold well (well enough for Lego to produce new TV commercials for the 2010 wave, which can't be cheap).
