  1. I have to say, the quality of the animation is superb, and there were some truly disturbing visual scenes there, but the story itself... It was really childish, I have to say. And I don't mean that as a story meant for kids, of course, but as a story written by a young person, trying to be all mature. It's the illogical things that give that impression: for example, why would the conductor of all people come search the house of a man who left a few red dribbles on the floor of a train? And why was the cop waving his gun before he even asked any questions? And why the conductor, who clearly sees the severed head in the fridge, asks "what is in the fridge?"? And ultimately, what was the point of the story? I get the cool scenes that were obviously inspired by splatter-movies, but all in all, there was no sense to the story - no beginning, no end. It was a snippet from a life of a serial murderer, and absolutely nothing else. So if you want my opinion, this was a good-looking but very shallow animation.
  2. The sixth day of this game has ended with an "undeadly" scene. Thank you so much to Matn for playing! Hope you had fun in your first Mafia-game, and hope you enjoyed this from a Harry Potter -fan's perspective as well! The remaining 14 players (plus one ghost) should start sending me their night actions if you haven't done so already.
  3. Final Vote Tally: Sheila Bones/Matn: 8 (Eskallon, Inconspicuous, Lord Arjay, sok117, CallMePie, Shadows, Escape The Fate + mystery vote) Jolie Jadis/Lord Arjay: 2 (Big Cam, Matn) With seven public votes and an anonymous one, Sheila Bones had become the target of the enfuriated mob. The votes had been split today, moreso than on any previous day. Was that a sign that they were finally on the right tracks in capturing the Death's Hallowed? "Please, hear me out!" Sheila appealed to the crowd. "They forced me to join them, I never wanted any of this! True, I am a werewolf, but that doesn't make me evil, does it?" "Then give us the names of the Death's Hallowed and we'll take that into consideration during your Wizengamot trial", Auror Weasley said. But as soon as Sheila opened her mouth, she started to gasp for air and her face turned pale. Her eyes bulged out of their sockets and burst open with a gush of blood. Her lips and cheeks swelled, making her teeth drop out of her mouth, and her enlarged tongue lolled out all purple. Finally she collapsed into Auror Potter's arms, dead as a doornail. The surrounding crowd were sickened by the sight. After the Aurors had taken away Sheila's corpse, and the residents had recovered from the shock, Headmistress McGonagall spoke. "It looks like Miss Bones befall a victim of a powerful curse that prevented her from revealing her assumed accomplices. I am certain that the Aurors will find out the whole truth about her by the morning, but for now, please retire to your dorms - and lock your doors." Day Six has ended. You can now send in your Night Actions.
  4. Current vote tally: Sheila Bones/Matn: 5 (Eskallon, Inconspicuous, Lord Arjay, sok117, CallMePie) Jolie Jadis/Lord Arjay: 3 (Dragonator, Big Cam, Matn) 8 votes are needed for a conviction. You still got about 20 hours to vote.
  5. You can now start voting. You have about 50 hours time to vote. 8 votes are needed to get a conviction.
  6. I've got them up to twelve, with one or two missing in between. Let's see how far we'll get...
  7. Headmistress McGonagall takes a moment to ponder, but she cannot remember any of the staff members attending Hogwarts in their youth except Professor Longbottom. The current faculty is surprisingly international per origin.
  8. So, Day Six is up, and with that we bid farewell to YG-49 and Zepher (who proved that the third time really is the charm by surviving two attacks). Thank you both very much for playing!
  9. The fifth night had the residents of Hogwarts taking a turtle position as most of them tried to cover up their backs. Unfortunately, the defenses were not impenetrable for all of them... Harriet Pewter sat on the couch of the Slytherin common room, wondering where the others had went. She felt useless in helping out with this terrible mystery. It was the story of her life: she seemed to fail in everything she tried to do. And a plump, clumsy, geeky girl like her had no real friends, either. Harriet swallowed the tears that she felt were on their way. Suddenly she heard someone enter the common room. To her shock, it wasn't one of her classmates but a dark-clad figure. "H-how did you get in here?" she asked, but before the figure could answer, she sprang up from the couch and made a run for it. Unfortunately, she stumbled to the edge of the thick carpet on the floor. The dark-robed figure laughed menacingly. "That's what you get for not doing your exercises", the figure mocked. Harriet sobbed in terror, knowing there was no escape. "Avada Kedavra!" The figure turned to look at the underwater windows that showed the scenery on the bottom of the lake. "Ah, Slytherin... Had I been a student in this school, I would've been sorted into this house", the shadowy figure said, and left. In the Hospital Wing, Stephanie Kingston woke up after having dozed off in her wheelchair, only to find a peculiar lump on her lap. "My, what's this? Oh, could it really be a bezoar?! Some kindly soul must've left this to me in order to save me from this poisoning." Not wanting to look the gift horse into the mouth, Madam Kingston swallowed the bezoar, and immediately felt the poison leaving her body. "This is a miracle!" she exclaimed. This was the second time she had escaped death, so she felt like nothing could harm her anymore. Unfortunately, the Dementor haunting Hogwarts begged to disagree. It had made its way into the Hospital Wing where it found the recovering librarian. Not even the joy Stephanie Kingston felt could prevent the Dementor for giving her its fateful kiss. The librarian fell down lifeless with her wheelchair as the Dementor left the Hospital Wing to return another night. The next morning was sinister indeed. The Death's Hallowed were gaining an upper hand on Hogwarts, and the Aurors had nothing but bad news. "Our investigations have come to the conclusion that all three - Todd Bulstrode, Harriet Pewter and Stephanie Kingston - were innocent", Auror Potter said grimly. "Furthermore, from the librarian's possession we found a Foe-glass that had been tampered to give out false information. It seems we still have no clue who the Death's Hallowed are among us." Then the headmistress spoke, weariness showing in her ancient face. "Please, those of you who are innocent... Make a good choice today. We are running out of time, and so many of us have already died. I don't want to see another innocent soul being sacrificed for this great tragedy. Please..." The crowd had a minute of silence before they started speaking. Rules: 1. There are two opposing sides in this game, the Death’s Hallowed and the Innocent. The Death’s Hallowed win when they outnumber the others. The Innocent win when they’ve vanquished all of the Death’s Hallowed. 2. Each day, the players will vote out one amongst them with a majority decision. To vote or to draw back your vote, you must use the following sentence in your post: vote: character/player or unvote: character/player. If you want to change your vote, you must first unvote before the second vote is calculated. 3. During days, there is a 24 hour period before anyone can vote. Once the majority decision is reached, you cannot unvote the player in question anymore. 4. Every player will get a short list of items, spells and skills at their disposal. These can be used only at nights. 5. Each night, the players can use one of their items, spells, OR skills by sending the host a PM about it. Some items and skills have an automatic effect, which will be handled by the host. Items can be handed over to another player, but that will cost the giver the night’s action. 6. To give someone else your item, send the host a PM stating the item you wish to give, the name of the player you wish to give it to, and whether you want to remain anonymous or not. Items cannot be exchanged without the host acting as an intermediary. 7. The night abilities have a pre-specified order of effect. If you don’t send your night ability by the time limit I’ve given each day, you will miss your chance to use it. 8. The Day-topics are meant for active players only, so do not post in them if you are already out of the game. The Discussion-topic is open to everybody. 9. Do not edit your posts, because it is considered unfair to other players. 10. Do not directly quote anything I’ve sent to you via PM. Use your own words, please. 11. All out-of-character discussion must be kept in the Discussion-topic. Likewise, all talk about game tactics and roles must be kept in the Day-topics and PMs. 12. Since this game deviates quite a lot from other Mafia-games, please ask any questions or doubts you might have directly from me, and you will be answered. Players: Hogwarts Faculty: Brigelda Hearth, nurse (WhiteFang) Crudo Alakhazam, teacher of Charms (Big Cam) Eloquence Malleus, teacher of Transfigurations (Shadows) Jingle the House-elf (Dragonator) Neville Longbottom, teacher of Herbology and Head of Gryffindor House (professor flitwick) Rhubarb Uxley, teacher of Care of Magical Creatures and Head of Hufflepuff House (Escape the Fate) Sicilia Bathory, teacher of Potions and Head of Ravenclaw House (Eskallon) Hogwarts Students: Desiree Jackson, Gryffindor (badboytje88) Jolie Jadis, Slytherin (Lord Arjay) Loki Malfoy, Slytherin (ILikePi) Prion the Centaur, Hufflepuff (Forresto) Rocky Broomwell, Gryffindor (sok117) Sheila Bones, Ravenclaw (Matn) Valerie MacArthur, Ravenclaw (Inconspicuous) Xander Lovegood, Gryffindor (CallMePie) Others: Dementor #2 Tea Ching, teacher of Divination and a ghost (iamded) The Deceased & The Confined: Brandon Townsend, Hufflepuff (Oky Wan Kenobi) - Impartial (killed on Night One) Oraman Furbad, caretaker (JimButcher) - Innocent (slain by a monster on Night One) Angela Weasley, Gryffindor (Burman) - Innocent (voted out on Day Two) Francis Rowan, Ravenclaw (ADHO15) - Innocent (killed on Night Two) Nene Grandstaff, Hufflepuff (Millacol88) - Impartial (voted out on Day Four) Tea Ching, teacher of Divination (iamded) - Innocent (killed on Night Four, now a ghost) Todd "Bulltoad" Bulstrode, Slytherin (Roncanator) - Innocent (voted out on Day Five) Harriet Pewter, Slytherin (YG-49) - Innocent (killed on Night Five) Stephanie Kingston, librarian (Zepher) - Innocent (kissed by a Dementor on Night Five) There are 15 players left in the game, so it will take 8 votes to convict someone. Voting starts 24 hours from now.
  10. The results of your Night 5 actions have now been sent to you. Day Six will be up sometime tomorrow, because I need to sleep first. All I will say is that we had another very thrilling "night" behind us...
  11. I saw that diorama on Brickshelf a while back, too, and couldn't stop just staring at all the incredible details for about fifteen minutes. It's truly a fantastic creation, and shows the power of cooperation (it would probably take one person years and years to build something like that). I even told my boyfriend that I want a room that has nothing but that diorama on display.
  12. I'll try to launch Day Six tomorrow or the day after it. I've yet to receive night actions from two people, so please send them in 12 hours if you want them to count.
  13. Like Millacol said, it would be polite to leave the speculations to the in-game topic meant for the players. I'd like to hear if your suspicions were correct once the game is over, okay? Oh, and thanks for asking first!
  14. Heh, I don't think the Japanese build grocery stores inside old temples, but as a building this is fantastic (well, aside from the flooring). You've used many exquisite building techniques, so well done.
  15. The conclusion for Day Five has now been posted. I'd like to thank Roncanator for playing with us, sorry your game ended at this point. Again, the remaining players can keep sending me their night actions for Night Five. There is no hurry, since we'll be getting visitors this week so I doubt I will get the next day-topic up before the weekend. I'll have to see...
  16. Final vote tally: Bulltoad Bulstrode/Roncanator: 10 (Zepher, sok117, badboytje88, Forresto, professor flitwick, CallMePie, Shadows, ILikePi, Inconspicuous, Dragonator) Sheila Bones/Matn: 1 (Lord Arjay) Once again an angry mob formed, pointing fingers at Todd Bulstrode, who was thus convicted to be interrogated in Juvenile Azkaban. Being in the center of the crowd reminded Todd of the years in his childhood when he had been bullied. "Bulltoad, bulltoad, bulltoad!" the bullies had mocked the obese younger Todd before they had beaten him up and stolen his lunch. Now Todd carried the mocking name with pride, to show he had overcome those times. But being in that position again greatly disturbed Bulltoad. "Hey mates, why get so worked up over a li'l Confundo-spell that I cast on that hag a few nights ago?" However, it was already too late to change the mob's minds. Headmistress McGonagall brought in a chest that had been discovered from Bulltoad's belongings. "Huh? Whaddaya want from that old thing? It belonged to my folks. I can't even get it open", Bulltoad wondered. "Hmm, this chest appears to be magically sealed, but it's nothing my spells can't bypass. Alohomora!" With a flick of a wand, the lid of the chest popped open. Much to Bulltoad's surprise, inside the chest was a long fang. "It looks like it belonged to a basilisk", the Minister of Magic said, studying the finding. "Remember what you used one of these for, Harry?" The Auror nodded, and then turned his attention to Bulltoad. "It's time to go, Bulstrode." Determined to keep his dignity, Bulltoad stepped out of the front doors voluntarily. "Smell ya later, guys!" he hollered before the doors swung shut after him and the Aurors. Then the headmistress spoke to the others. "I have to wonder if the existence of a basilisk's fang in this castle is a mere coincidence. But I'm sure we'll be wiser again as the morning comes. Sleep safe." Then the appeased mob scattered, each to their own businesses. Day Five has ended, so please send me your night actions for the following night.
  17. Current vote tally: Bulltoad Bulstrode/Roncanator: 2 (Zepher, sok117) Sheila Bones/Matn: 1 (Lord Arjay) There are a little over 24 hours left to vote at this point.
  18. I don't really get the purpose of this competition (other than to have fun building and win prizes, which applies to every contest here). Why put so much effort, time and money in finding out something that could be solved with a simple poll titled "What's your favorite theme?"? I'm not trying to put you down, but it is obvious that you don't really know what it takes to organize a contest of these proportions. TLG doesn't automatically award fansites with sets or gift cards worth thousands of dollars, you know? And the cross-theme scale of the contest is just too big for anybody to handle, I think, with numerous entries coming from a dozen themes or so. In theory your idea is of course fantastic, but I really don't believe it would work on a practical level, sorry.
  19. Aloha! Welcome to Hawaii, where fruits of every kind are a plenty!
  20. Jolie Jadis thought how lucky she had been when she had been offered the luck potion Felix Felicis to drink in the night. "I feel so lucky right now that I bet nobody doesn't even think about voting for me!" she thought excitedly. Voting starts now and lasts 48 hours, or until a conviction has been made. As there are 18 players left in the game, it takes 10 votes to convict someone. In addition, today you cannot vote for Jolie Jadis/Lord Arjay. Just so we're clear, you cannot vote for Tea Ching/iamded either. Or, before someone asks, the Dementor.
  21. The Prison Tower, the Wizard and the Jester are so far the only Kingdoms sets I've gotten, and I like all of them very much. I also intend to get the King's Castle and at least some of the smaller sets eventually, but as far as the best set goes, in my eyes the upcoming Advent Calendar tops all the sets with it's great assortment of minifigs and accessories. The truth is, Kingdoms sets don't really offer anything we haven't seen before building-wise, so I'm most interested in the new figs it gives us.
  22. Oh come on, everybody in the US. knows that Europe is a country of its own! Sorry, just had to take this jab. I know the majority of Americans are more educated than Kelly Pickler (fortunately).
  23. Voting starts today, so you'll have ample time to do so. But yes, you can send in your night action beforehand. You'll be back before Day Six ends, most probably.
  24. Yes, this is really a fantastic idea and a top-notch execution. It reminds me of the collectable minifig contest we had here a month or so ago. Did you participate in it?
  25. Oh yeah, thanks for reminding. Iamded is not counted as an obstacle for the Death's Hallowed (since he cannot win the game) nor does he affect the number of votes to get an eviction (since he cannot vote). Iamded is a sort of a "half-player", just like his character is half-visible.
