Okay, that seems to confirm that we indeed have a vigilante, but I have to wonder, Mehmet, how can the cultists allow you to live after this?
-
You're right. This also makes me wonder if we should even vote at all without solid evidence against someone... Of course, there's always the risk of the cultists voting someone out in the last minute, but on the other hand that would expose them... But at this point we (or at least I) don't know if we even have a vigilante on our side, which on the worst case scenario would mean that if we don't vote, the cultists win by default. Ugh, what a mess!
-
Uh oh, not a good night for us... So let me get this straight: the innocents with night actions are not virgins, and none of the virgins have night actions. So those two roles are mutually exclusive, right? Now, has anybody been contacted by a person claiming to be both a virgin and having a night action yesterday? Because that person is obviously lying, we can determine that much. Since we can't take anything for face value, even if there is a person like that it would not warrant for an immediate lynch, but it would give us another hint of someone we should not trust. If the cultists indeed sacrificed Percy, it shows that they're playing it safe by targetting a less vocal person who's less likely to be protected. And since he was a virgin (although I wonder why, with such an impressive banana that he got), he probably correctly guessed his importance to us innocents and did not confide to anyone, like Mehmet said. Speaking of whom, I really did not appreciate the whole last-minute vote switcheroo stunt that Mehmet organized. At least I hope people don't follow something like that on consecutive days, for it's way too easy for cultists to abuse. Just think about it: Mehmet rallied just enough people to get a lynch in the last possible moment before sundown just by saying "quick, change your votes for I have a gut-feeling!" while most of us had already gone to bed. I'm not saying that makes him scum by default, but I do hope people are smarter than to fall for that trick again. After all, we had many more potential people to choose from other than Father Tomato. I can't believe how easily all of them got off the hook just by saying they had an important night action or were virgins. Newsflash! I'm an innocent as well, so either I'm a virgin or I have a night action. Take your pick.

"Ah, I think you will get bored if I get into the details - it's all very mathematic, you see - but suffice to say that Monsignore Legonardo has found a way to energize metal parts with a combination of ether and certain mechanisms. If you wish to learn more, you should visit the Ji Pei Palace in Eubric someday. That is where I learned the secrets behind these wondrous creations." -

The doctor blinks a few times in confusion. "Oh, he confused his own boss for someone else! That's... odd. Well, I know that Jolly Roger is at his cabin on top of this fortress, like usual. Monsignore Legonardo just left to meet him, you see. But as you know, there's no getting through the door to the cabin without the über-secret password. I heard that the captain has only told the password to a select few people here, monsignore being one of them." "As to what comes to our resources, the House of Ji Pei has been generous enough to provide us with everything that we've got. The technology that the aoi brought with them from the distant east is beyond marvelous, and I feel blessed that I'm one of the rare few who have been initiated in the craft. Have you seen our automatons in action yet? I dream of the day when all wars will be fought between machines, so that no human life will be lost in vain... Well, is there something else you wish to ask?" -

"Well met, Sir Daggerfall. I am Doctor Monalisa Gioconda, the head engineer of the Tritech Company." Dr. Gioconda is taken aback by Christopher's questions. "You don't know Monsignore Vincent Legonardo?! He is only the greatest inventor and genius of our times! He is the one who invented all these machines and gave them to Jolly Roger at the behest of his sponsors. Please don't tell me you don't know who the Ji Pei are, either! You really must be new to this area... Oh, I'm sorry but I do not know who this Captain Blackbeard is you are talking about." -

Thormanil also takes a swing at it, depleting 28 health thanks to his thunderous axes. Thothwick mugs the crab for 31 damage and gains 31 gold in the process. The second mellow crab rages up and to its detriment turns into an angry crab, for it has already lost over 60 health. With one crab down, Cinna turns her attention to the remaining enemy, but it manages to attack her again for 3 damage. One enemy remains, so the rest of the battle will be played automatically. He does not look well at all, though. "Miss Cinna... I don't feel so swell..." the boy mutters, then passes out again. Thothwick quickly turns to Hoptet to plead for help. The druid checks the boy's pulse and forehead, then attempts to heal him, but it only has a momentary effect. "<This is worrisome>", the Metasimian healer says ominously. "<He has a high fever and does not respond to my healing skills. It seems the boy has been struck with an infection. He is still very young, so his body does not stand the same kind of blows as ours do. Whatever is wrong with him, we need to find a solution fast. With a high fever like this, I do not think he will survive past three days, and he certainly is not in any condition to fight. I am very sorry...>" Thothwick translates the druid's words with a heavy heart. What will the party do now?

Heroica RPG - Quest#15: Hoisting Down the Jolly Roger

The woman is surprised, but then a blush spreads to her cheeks as the suave knight adresses her. "Oh well, I never did expect to find myself working for pirates when I was hired by Monsignore Legonardo, but he calls the shots. Not that I have anything against you lot, but I've seen nothing but drinking, fighting and profanities here. You seem different, though... Sorry, I did not catch your name?" The woman looks at Christopher from under her long eyelashes and gives him a bashful smile. One of the scientists interrupts. "Doctor Gioconda, can you come over...?" "Not now!" the woman hisses to her underling. "Can't you see I'm talking to this gentleman... pirate?!" She then turns her attention back to the knight as the scientist backs down. -

The Curse of IMHOTEP - Confirmation & Discussion
Sandy replied to Rufus's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Whoa! Just caught up with the last six or so pages of the first day topic, and I've got to say that this is what a game of Mafia should be all about! The real-life game has exactly that kind of intensity during the voting stage, albeit with much fewer words. -
If you're asking this for the Arena, it is up to you to decide. I'm hesitant to introduce "quartered damage" to the battlesystem, but if QMs want that then I don't mind. It would mean that when a hero standing in the back row attacks an enemy in the back row with a close-ranged weapon, the hero would only do a quarter of the normal damage. Does anyone feel the need to discuss this issue?
-
Since people are choosing sides now, I might as well do that myself. Mr. Fitzwilliam, you certainly have not made any friends today with your behaviour, but somehow you still have people voting with you (especially Mr. Leplot). Try a piece of humble pie in your next life, okay? Unvote: Penelope Farago (Waterbrick Down) Vote: Patrick Fitzwilliam (def)
-
I don't think insults and calling names help your case in any way, Mr. Janus. Kudos to you for being so observant, but I merely looked at the list of votes that our hosts so courteously gave us, and there Miss Farago is listed as the one having the most votes. Only now I checked back and saw that one of the votes against her was taken back. And here I was scolding the person who cussed at you...
-
I don't think we're getting anywhere with everyone voting for different people. I'm still none the wiser than I was when the voting started (even though there has been some good arguments against some people). Even though there are suspicions, that's all they can be at this point: theories, feelings, sixth sense. Nothing concrete. Anyway, obviously people did not rise en masse to vote for Mr. Leplot, so I am going to unvote: Toulouse Leplot (WhiteFang). And since people seem to be most suspicious against Mrs. Farago, I am going to vote: Penelope Farago (Waterbrick Down). Sorry if you're not one of the cultists, I just have no way of knowing that right now.

OoC: No, the amount of lost health is stable. That means if the Mellow Crab has lost more than 60 damage and then turns into an Angry Crab, it is immediately killed. Also, since you did not post an order of action, I will list the actions in the order they were posted in. Results of Round One of the Crab Battle: >Bartholomew vs. Angry Crab - Shield (Triple Shot) Thormanil vs. Angry Crab - Miss >Thothwick (Shuriken) vs. Mellow Crab - Miss Hoptet vs. Mellow Crab - Hit >Cinna vs. Angry Crab - Miss >Bluto (Harpoon) vs. Angry Crab - Damage The battle begins under the scorching midday sun. Bartholomew sends three arrows to the air, two of them hitting the Angry Crab for 38 damage and one hitting the Mellow Crab for 19 damage. Thormanil's attack misses, as well as Thothwick's who loses his shuriken in the process. Hoptet strikes the Mellow Crab with his pointy stick, causing 16 damage. Cinna misses as well, but the Angry Crab manages to cut Bluto for 10 damage, instantly knocking out the little boy. The party watches in horror as the boy's frail body falls to the ground limp and lifeless. Both enemies still remain. The woman sighs loudly. "They're automatons. How many times do I have to spell it to you dimwits? Au-to-ma-tons! And we're preparing more ether-charged cannons for you as we speak, please do not be so impatient. You will drive those Bonaparte ships away with our help, just as we agreed. Is there anything else you want, or can I get back to my work?" -
"Snake, you will burn!" Ellaria shouts in the heat of the battle as she attacks Snake A from the front row.

Just wait a minute... First you guys are all "yeah, let's vote randomly", and now it's "random vote is stupid, pulling a name out of your big behind is better", and when Ophelia literally pulls a name out of her big behind it's "omg why did you vote without any reasons?!". Can you just make up your mind about what you are for and what you are against, please? The bottom line for me is that I do not trust any sort of behaviour or matter of speech to reveal anything about a person's alignment. The cultists could be hiding behind the noisy ones, or they could be the noisy ones themselves. A passive player could as well be a cultist as an active player. And nobody has approached me with any sort of claim or theory that would help me make any sort of decision as to whom to vote for, so my strategy sticks. I am going to vote: Toulouse Leplot/WhiteFang, even though I am aware Ophelia will most likely draw back her vote. If the votes start piling on somebody else, I might change my vote. But at least now I've done my duty as an innocent victim of this dire situation and voted.

But I am voting randomly. I can't just pull a name out of the hat without looking suspicious, can I? If that makes me a sheep, then so be it. But I remind you, this is my strategy for this first day alone. I hope we will be more knowledged come tomorrow (if tomorrow comes for me).

Please read what I said to the end... Of course I'll change my vote if something more convincing comes up, but as of now I cannot tell who is lying and who is telling the truth, so I chose this method of random voting. By being open about it I hopefully won't get dubious looks.

Alright, the time has come to be decisive, people. I've followed the heated debates today and it is obvious that this situation makes all of us tense. Nobody would want to be sacrificed, but ultimately one of us has to be or we will never catch the cultists. Since there is no way of knowing anyone's alignment for me today, I will personally vote the first person who gets a vote against them. I guess this is the fairest method for me, since I cannot say who will get that vote. However, if that first vote is against me for some reason, I naturally cannot vote myself. I hope you understand. And of course if something more concrete comes up, I won't hesitate to change my vote.
