Not necessarily. You just had bad luck on your side, but with some risk you might actually prevail. Violetta doesn't have very much health left, after all... Oh, and her transformation was pre-planned, just so you know. I'm not actively trying to kill your party.
-
Of course I've already thought of these, they're just bombs with the remaining elements. I've just waited for a right time to introduce them.

I've already got them covered, thanks.

The idea is fun, even though it feels a little out of context with this game world. But I guess a more lighthearted quest would be a nice change. When you're prepared, please send me more details (enemy stats, unique item descriptions etc.) and some pictures!

Heroica RPG - Quest#33: WANTED! Violetta the Cat Burglar
Sandy replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
QM Note: Actually, the special skill deals 13 damage to each hero, but since you were all in the back row, the damage was halved. Alexis and Althior also have SP, so their damage was decreased still. Heroica RPG - Expert Job Class Discussion
Sandy replied to LEGOman273's topic in The Heroica Archive
Yes, I think my classes are finalized, although minor changes can still occur. Here's the pictures once more. -
Sorry, I don't have the time nor the energy to dig through old topics just to get my point across. I've just gotten the impression that your character is a difficult one to play with, going into these moods and "dark places" for what seems like every quest. Yes, players can sit out fights if they really feel like it's against their morals, but this should be done sparingly. The whole mechanic of this game circles around battles, so if you repeatedly refuse battles for whatever reason, you become a deadweight for the rest of the party. And that is not fair to the other players who want to move on with the quest. I'm sorry for singling you out like this, but I just don't understand why you get so deeply involved with your roleplaying, saying that your character "can't do it", when you're the one in the controls. Claiming that your character has a mind of his own is crazy talk. But I'll get off your case. Just know that the more "difficult" you present your character, the more likely QMs and other players will shun playing with you. I sincerely hope that it doesn't happen. I apologize that I called you a diva.
-
I don't mind characters sometimes arguing with each other, having moral issues or even refusing to fight a certain enemy, but Tanma has been deliberately holding back his quest on several occasions by making the quests seem all about his character, and now he asked other players to coerce his character into fighting, like it was their job to sweet-talk him into doing his job. That, to me, is too much roleplaying and not enough concentrating on the task at hand. Other QMs might accept his behaviour, but I'm growing weary and irritated of it. Maybe I'm just too tired and can't think clearly... And Tanma, this doesn't mean that I don't like Dek'ra as a character, or that you wouldn't be a great roleplayer, you're just hogging up too much space for yourself in the quests, in my honest opinion. Drawing in other players to appease your character (as if you couldn't do it yourself) was the last straw for me. As I said, others may see it differently, but I just had to get this out of my chest as the manager of this game.
-
I do not mean to jump at your throat, but this is not the first time that you are holding back your party with your roleplaying. That's something that I would not tolerate in my quest, and I'm letting you know that. Your actions come across as selfish and attention-seeking. The party should be working together to win their opponents. The character's personal problems should never affect the outcome of a battle, at least not unless all the players accept that. Just play fair, and tone down the Dek'ra Show. That's my advice to you, take it as you wish. PS. In case it's unclear to you, the winged people challenged you to test your worth in battle. That means you won't kill them even if you win them in battle, unless I'm badly mistaken.

QM Note: I guess I don't have a choice... The party decides to flee. Count Shadeaux watches them run and shakes his head... "What in ze name of Mercutio iz going on 'ere...?" THE BATTLE IS TERMINATED! What will the party do now.
-
You are taking your roleplaying too far by demanding that other players beg and grovel in front of your character. Nobody likes self-proclaimed divas. If you have that kind of an attention-seeking attitude towards playing this game, I'm pretty sure QMs will stop picking you into their quests. I sure won't choose you, not with that kind of behaviour.

Heroica RPG - Quest#33: WANTED! Violetta the Cat Burglar
Sandy replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
QM Note: Sorry, I had to nerf down Cat-o'-Nine-Tails further because it would've been too overpowered otherwise. Now the damage dealt with it will be divided between all enemies. Although none of you can use the weapon yet, anyway. Results of Round Three of the Violetta Battle: >Althior heals Alexis - Heal >Alexis (Darkness) vs. Violetta - Great Spell >Benji (Crossbow) vs. Violetta - Special Damage (Pilfer Artefact) Violetta (Hastened) - Free Hit against Althior. Althior restores Alexis back to full health. Alexis casts a great spell of darkness at Violetta, finally hitting her for 80 damage. ~A new quest pitch has been posted on the Quest Board (#36 by Endgame)! Sloop's quest has been postponed until I hear back from him.~
-
I don't see that as a problem, because those players have already been through the start-up phase once and actually seen the trouble to acquire all those items. Giving the secondary character a slight edge in the beginning is only understandable. But this talk is still premature. I sincerely hope the game will keep on going long enough for players to hit Level 50 and get access to the Master Classes and the secondary character, but that's all up to you guys, of course. This game has taken a huge chunk of my time over these last twelve months, but I really love it and I have enjoyed immensely seeing you all play and enjoy it too. I don't see myself giving it up any time soon, but all things must come to an end one day. Let's just hope that day comes later than sooner, okay?

Heroica RPG - Quest#33: WANTED! Violetta the Cat Burglar
Sandy replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
QM Note: You have to spend a turn to set one up, first. The decoy's description says "can be used...", so it's not automatic. The decoy absorbs all Free Hits up until 20 damage has been done, no matter who they are directed to. I don't know if other QMs have had a different interpretation... -

Heroica RPG - Expert Job Class Discussion
Sandy replied to LEGOman273's topic in The Heroica Archive
Yes, the dragon will obey as long as the player indeed finishes a quest as a Dragoon, so that the bond is formed. The player can only have the one dragon throughout the game, though, so the dragon's element should be carefully considered (although it won't come into play before level 40). -
I'm actually thinking about giving players that hit Level 50 a second character to play as. I'm still contemplating whether to allow the two characters to join the same quests or not. Any thoughts on this? I don't know, either. He hasn't replied to my PMs or anything. And here I thought he was such a promising QM... Hope he is alright, and will rejoin us soon!

It is subjective, something that QMs should consider when choosing players, but not be restricted by it.
