  1. Well, I do think they're too similar, although you have some great ideas for songs that could be later incorporated with the Minstrel's songs. Here's a blank rule page if someone wants to give their class suggestion that extra flair.

What will the rogues do to it?
  3. "Are you trying to insinuate something? Do I really look like a nimble and lean cat burglar to you? A woman of my age?! And do you honestly believe I would spend a significant amount of the Town Watch's funds to hire the three of you to catch myself?!?! Hmpf, let's just get this over with and go to the Ji Pei Palace, I want to be done with you." The fuming captain of the watchmen lead the heroes and her troops to the last powerful family whose house was not broken into yet. Inside the palace they met up with Ambassador Shanxian Ji Pei and her bodyguard Lee Long. "Your concern is touching", said the ambassador with a thick oriental accent. "But we are one step ahead both you and the Wolfgang vermin. It does not surprise me that the other houses have lost their valuables to the sewer rats, but our heirlooms are currently sailing high above the Crystalline Sea on Monsignore Legonardo's airship." "That was a smart move. Violetta may be devilishly cunning, but even she can't grow wings. But what's that blade behind you?" Shanxian just smiled and lead the group to the golden sword. There was some sort of beast engraved to its hilt. "This is the legendary Qilin Blade, our household treasure", the matron of the Ji Pei said. "Or rather, a replica of it. The true blade is of course loaded into the airship. But this should be enough to lure the burglar here tonight. All you need to do is to catch her." "Well, you heard her. My men and I will patrol outside in case Lieutenant Lilbelly and his minions decides to make an appearance. I have no faith that my men will see even a glimpse of Violetta, but they shouldn't have trouble spotting a fat man, a dwarf and a giant. Oh well, even that might be saying too much..." Does the party have any more questions to the Ji Pei?
  4. Results of Round Seven of the Drug Dealer Battle: >Guts uses Grand Potion on himself Dak vs. Slim Quarter D - Critical Hit/Damage Slim Eighth A - Free Hit against Guts Slim Eighth B - Free Hit against Dak Guts consumes one of his Grand Potions, recovering to full health. Dak on the other hand concentrates his strike on Slim Quarter D, scoring a critical hit that deals 66 damage and takes it out. The eighths of Slim both attack the rogues again, both losing 2 health. It's two versus two now. Enemy: Slim Eighth A Type: Vermin Level: 3 Health: 2/50 Special: Bad Trip – Causes the cursed- and poisoned-effects to the target. Drops: nothing Note: Every successful hit will split Slim into two, dividing his level and remaining health evenly. 5. But, then it wouldn't be the "petrified"-effect anymore, but the "stunned" or the "asleep"-effect. For a Shield-skill, just inflicting one effect is very weak. Remember that the Shield-skills are supposed to be "lifesavers" in most cases, the players should want to see them happen in a battle. I think a skill that causes damage AND an effect would be best for the class. I'll leave it up to you to think of something. I planned that the mixtures would be instant, but on the other hand it would add strategy to the class if they were items that could be saved for later... Or would that only clutter the Alchemist's inventory with items they might never use? The first option "explosion" would still be instant, though.
  6. QM Note: My previous note doesn't mean your input isn't greatly appreciated, Darth Nihilus... Results of Round Six of the Drug Dealer Battle: >Guts vs. Slim Quarter D - Damage >Dak (Throwing Knife) vs. Slim Quarter C - Shield (Mug)/Special Damage Slim Eighth A - Free Hit against Guts Slim Eighth B - Free Hit against Dak The fourth quarter of Slim causes 3 damage to Guts. Dak mugs the third quarter with his throwing knife for 32 damage, taking it out and gaining 32 gold at the same. The two eighth parts get free hits on the rogues; one takes 2 more health from Guts, the other 1 from Dak. Three enemies remain against two weakened rogues. Enemy: Slim Eighth A Type: Vermin Level: 3 Health: 2/50 Special: Bad Trip – Causes the cursed- and poisoned-effects to the target. 7. I don't remember if I already commented on this class, but I really like it. Especially how it's power is dependent on gold, and how it only uses swords. The class seems quite balanced to me.
  8. From now on I'm only going to comment on classes that are pitched by players who have acted as Quest Masters, and thus have a realistic potential to be added into the game. Everyone else is still free to give feedback on other suggestions, of course. Hmm... This class is very close to my Chi Monk, but it also has some distinct differences. With the permanent encouraged-effect in place, at Level 30 their normal hits will cause 60 damage and their critical hits 120 damage. That's about equal to an un-encouraged, non-elemental attack of a Chi Monk, but with a Mead and a correct element, The Chi Monk can cause up to 240 damage to one enemy with a normal hit. So your class is actually lacking in power. The Shield skill is actually one-hit KO for the targetted enemy, but I'm sure many QMs will counter it by making their enemies immune to petrify, so you might want to think of something else. Hastened-effect usually lasts for the rest of the battle, so "Agility" is a bit problematic on that front. Maybe consider wording it differently? Oh, and if the Werewolf is immune to the "Afraid"-effect, how else could they be forced to fight from the back row? Petrifying is equal to killing the enemy in one hit, since very few enemies can remove bad effects. I don't see how the skill could get anymore powerful than that.
  9. "I will bring my full force to the Ji Pei Palace, but do you really think we can lure Violetta into a room full of watchmen? No, that would only make her use the more straightforward tactics that she used at the Ziegfried Manor. You three must catch her as she tries to take the last remaining heirloom. Me and my men will make sure that there will be no distractions." QM Note: I'm going to be very busy these coming few days, so the updates will be slower. I also need to build a MOC for the Ji Pei palace, which I was supposed to do during the weekend but didn't have time for it. My apologies!
  10. QM Note: I'm going to continue the battle without Darth Nihilus's input, since there's really only one viable option for him, anyway. Results of Round Five of the Drug Dealer Battle: >Guts (Throwing Knife) vs. Slim Half B - Shield (Mug) Dak vs. Slim Quarter B - Miss/Hit The pissed off Guts mugs the half of Slim with his throwing knife for 80 damage, earning 80 gold on the side. Unfortunately it is not enough to defeat the blob, so it divides into two quarters of Slim. Dak hits the second quarter for 46 damage, making it split as well. Four enemies face the two rogues now. Slim Eighth B Type: Vermin Level: 2 Health: 1/50 Special: Bad Trip – Causes the cursed- and poisoned-effects to the target. 11. Results of Round Four of the Drug Dealer Battle: Guts vs. Slim Half B - Damage Dak vs. Slim Quarter A - Critical Hit/Critical Hit Slim Quarter B - Free Hit against Guts The largest blob of what used to be Slim attacks Guts for 10 damage. Dak scores a critical hit on the first quarter of Slim, dealing 66 damage and thus defeating it before it has a chance to divide again. The second quarter of the drug dealer deals an additional 5 damage to Guts. Enemy: Slim Quarter B Type: Vermin Level: 5 Health: 49/100 Special: Bad Trip – Causes the cursed- and poisoned-effects to the target. Drops: nothing Note: Every successful hit will split Slim into two, dividing his level and remaining health evenly. Slim Half B Type: Vermin Level: 10 Health: 144/200 Special: Bad Trip – Causes the cursed- and poisoned-effects to the target. All of you, choose your target and the row you want to fight in. Also mention if you want to flee or if you want to use an item instead of attacking. Any enemy not targeted will get a Free Hit on the party after everyone have acted.
  12. Gems, scrolls and tools aren't consumable or artefacts, either. The Eye of the Beholder falls into that same category.
  13. All heroes are element-neutral, no matter what their race, stage of furriness or degree of decay is. You can find the description of each scroll from the Treasury (thanks to CallMePie for keeping it up to date!), but here they are for your convenience: Scroll of Sleep – Enables casting the sleep-effect to the target, forcing it to miss its turn for three rounds or until woken up by an attack. Each casting has a 50/50 chance of success and costs 1 ether. Usable only by mages and clerics. Costs 50 gold. Scroll of Blindness – Enables casting the blinded-effect to the target, making it unable to use a physical attack for the next three rounds. Each casting has a 50/50 chance of success and costs 1 ether. Usable only by mages and clerics. Costs 50 gold. Scroll of Sealing – Enables casting the sealed-effect to the target, making it unable to use a special skill for the next three rounds. Each casting has a 50/50 chance of success and costs 1 ether. Usable only by mages and clerics. Costs 50 gold. Scroll of Confusion – Enables casting the confused-effect to the target for the next three rounds, during which it has a 50/50 chance of targeting an ally instead of its opponents. Each casting has a 50/50 chance of success and costs 1 ether. Usable only by mages and clerics. Costs 50 gold.
  14. Since most of the suggested classes are not officially in the game (at least yet), I'm not willing to index the topic at this point. I don't want to confuse people to think that the list represents what they will get.
  15. Back at the barracks, Captain Patricia summons a row call. Much to her chagrin, she learns that three of her men have gone missing, alongside the Wolfgang prisoner Kayla. "Dammit! It seems my predecessor Ubert Lilbelly, who was demoted into a lieutenant, still had a bone to pick. He and two other watchmen, Constables Longjon and Llowlyfe, both of whom you met earlier, have vanished with the Wolfgang wench. They must've hidden underground, but if we keep a watch over the Ji Pei Palace, they might turn up there. I don't think Violetta will leave her job unfinished. Can I trust you to apprehend these traitors, catch the burglar and return the stolen heirlooms? Just say if this is getting too much for you, and I'll turn to someone else for help."
  16. I saw it, and while it's nice to see the information in one place, I don't think it was absolutely necessary to open up that topic. The discussion seems to have settled down already, anyway. But there's no harm done, if people still want to send in their ideas for public evaluation, they can use your thread by all means. I will hold the final say in which expert classes will get into the game, anyway.
  17. QM Note: No I didn't, good catch. I fixed it now. I also removed the Free Hit because it's not fair for the targetted enemy to get a second turn just because it split. This does not mean that the extra enemies wouldn't get a Free Hit on the upcoming rounds, though.
  18. I wasn't threatening to kick Flipz out, I just warned him not to keep sticking his nose to other people's quests. The players were supposed to figure out this connection themselves, so I think it's rude for an outsider to reveal it for them. And spoiler tags don't help much if there's no mention about what the content spoils. The odds are not on your side this time, since Dyric was knocked out immediately and you don't have that many healing items with you. At least you have the option to flee at any point.
  19. Results of Round Two of the Drug Dealer Battle: Guts vs. Slim - Miss Dak uses Nostrum on himself Guts misses his attack. Dak consumes a Nostrum to increase his luck. The next round will be played out automatically. Enemy: Slim Yscum Type: Vermin Level: 20 Health: 400/400 Special: Bad Trip – Causes the cursed- and poisoned-effects to the target. Both conscious rogues are surprised to see the injured drug dealer split himself into two smaller parts. Dak hits the other half for 46 damage, causing it to split again. There's now three enemies against two heroes. Enemy: Slim Quarter A Type: Vermin Level: 5 Health: 49/100 Special: Bad Trip – Causes the cursed- and poisoned-effects to the target. 20. "So, what kind of a plan have you come up with? Can we return to the barracks now to interrogate my watchmen? If there's really a mole among them, we have to act subtle or he will slip through our fingers."
  21. Umm, who are all these people? Distant relatives popping in for a visit, perhaps? And no, you may not use the Wolfgang leader in your quest. Using some other Wolfgang representative is fine. Just remember that I have not approved your quest yet. You still haven't sent me the story details I asked for.
  22. I would really appreciate it if everyone would only play in their own quests, and not give hints or spoilers about other quests. Flipz, this is not the first time you've done that, so I have to warn you about continuing that behaviour. I'm disappointed in you. I'm not a staff member, so I don't have the power to give any tags. There's nothing like that being planned, either.
  23. "You were overwhelmed, I understand that. I apologize that we did not take into consideration that the Wolfgang would employ such a direct strategy. This is a declaration of open warfare, which is something that Eubric cannot afford in its current state, I'm afraid." The morning came eventually, and Captain Patricia hurried into the scene of the crime. The Ziegfrieds had already cleaned up the mess with their spells, and now the entire family had gathered to see what had happened during the night. "Whoa! Look at the size of that hole! How cool is that?!" "Oh, how many more ordeals must this family suffer?" "I miss you so... Wolf_Cub666... *sob* *sniff*" Captain Patricia gave an ice-cold glare at the three heroes, then turned to address Zelda. "I am deeply sorry, Grand Wizardine. I will fire these worthless sellswords this instant for failing me twice." "No, please don't. They fought bravely, but the Wolfgang was one step ahead of them. It was as if someone knew what our plan was. Are you absolutely sure you don't have a mole within your ranks?" "I can't even bear to think that, but I guess there is no other option than a traitor amongst my own men. You three, if you still want to keep your job, make some sense to this mess! Uh, my head is killing me..." All eyes are on the heroes, waiting to see what they come up with. What is the next course of action?

Meanwhile, Slim gets an upperhand on Dyric, and knocks the rogue out with a single hit. The dealer cackles triumphantly. It's two against one now. 25. Yeah, it's sure have gone crowded here after I gave permission for everyone to bounce their ideas. But since you're one of the people who actually can give out an Expert Class, I'm going to evaluate your suggestion. I really like the switcheroo nature of this class. I don't think it should be called "Chaos Defender" if the two sides are chaos and order. Maybe the name could be something like "Janus Defender", referring to the two-faced Roman god, or just a "Chaos/Order Defender". The job traits are a bit lacking. Diplomacy is good, but Track Down doesn't quite fit with the name of the class. Order/Chaos is fine, although the elements should be mentioned in the battle skills as well for the sake of clarity. Regarding the "ordered" battle style, wouldn't "orderly" be a better word for it? I'm not an expert in English language, so you probably know which has the more fitting nuance. The shield-skill for both sides is great, the "side-effect" of halving the opponent's health is powerful enough. Rally is a bit complicated, since it feels like two completely different actions smashed into one. The problem with giving positive effects is that they usually last for the remainder of the battle. So maybe Rally could have some other effect, such as giving +2 SP to all allies for the rest of the battle, with the effect being cumulative. That would tie it to the name "Defender" better. I think "Rest" should be replaced with a tweaked "Optimism" so that the full party's health is restored equal to the Defender's level. Never underestimate the power of positive thinking. I just feel like the current Optimism is again two different results smashed into one. Instead of Optimism, Defender should have "Defended Damage" (as the class should naturally be able to equip shields). And since the chaotic side has "Zoot's Blessing", the orderly side should have "Gods' Blessing", whatever the effect of that will be. With my suggestions in effect, the orderly battle skills could perhaps look something like this: 1. SHIELD: Internal Conflict 2. CRITICAL HIT/RALLY ALL: The Defender attacks blah blah or optionally gives +2 SP for the remainder of the battle to all allies. 3. HIT/RALLY: The Defender attacks blah blah or optionally gives +2 SP for the remainder of the battle to the ally that takes a turn after them. 4. OPTIMISM: The Defender restores health to all allies and themselves equal to their level. 5. DEFENDED DAMAGE 6. GODS' BLESSING: ??? Doesn't that look much clearer to you too? Even though I suggest nerfing out the lucky- and encouraged-effects in favor of SP, the orderly side seems to lack a bit of oomph, especially in comparison to my expert classes. Maybe that can be countered by beefing up the chaotic side. Let's see... I like "Chaotic Strike", since it fits the unpredictable nature of this side. I just feel that the chaos-side should somewhat mirror the orderly side, whereas currently the two don't really meet up. Maybe in opposition of "rally", the chaotic side could have a weakening skill that decreases the enemy's level. "Hit" could be replaced with critical hit to give some extra punch to the class, and "counter-thief" should be replaced with "pessimism" to mirror "optimism". "Damage" should be "Defended Damage". "Zoot's Blessing" seems a bit random, but fitting. After these suggestions, the chaotic battle skills could maybe look like this: 1. SHIELD: Internal Conflict 2. CHAOTIC STRIKE/RAZE ALL: The Defender attacks blah blah or optionally decreases the level of all opponents by 2. 3. CRITICAL HIT/RAZE: The Defender attacks blah blah or optionally decreases the target's level by 2. 4. PESSIMISM: The Defender removes all effects (both negative and positive) from everyone in the battle. 5. DEFENDED DAMAGE 6. ZOOT'S BLESSING Please don't take these suggestions as something you have to change. This is just my feedback, it's ultimately up to you what you want from your class. I trust your own judgement. The onto the precious feedback given by Jimbee! You probably missed it, but I already said that the smithy in the Marketplace will soon sell a fauxthril instrument. Like the advanced classes, the players will not get any items upon switching to expert classes. Correct. Their ether is only used for the songs and the scrolls. The pet dragon can only have one element throughout the game, so the dragoon will have to choose carefully when hitting this stage in the dragon's evolution. I agree about the experience gain hitting a plateau at some point. After Level 50 seems good, since there will be no new ranks of class beyond the master classes (at least for the time being). I've been considering the same thing. It's all a matter of luck, really. The necromancer might not roll a single Shield during a battle, and the class's usefulness really depends on the undead minions, so I'd rather they would keep the army of undead throughout the quest. The necromancer itself should probably be weaker, so that the possibility of getting knocked out and losing the entire army increases. Yes, they will have to buy the bombs. Another undeliberate mistake resulting from haphazard copy&pasting. Remember that Special Guard only has a chance to protect from effects. If the enemy's special skill does damage or has some other effect, Special Guard does not affect the outcome. There's still time to balance these classes, so all feedback and thoughts are much appreciated. Thank you for these clarifying questions!
