Greetings. I am the stump. We stumps are a pensive breed. I've made the fewest contributions today, and thus I'm probably in no position to criticize the contributions of others. But who gives a stump. Unhelpfulness and roleplaying are commonplace on the first day because we have little else to do or talk about. I'm always interested to see who starts the accusations, especially when we have so little to go on. Today, those accusers appear to be the Vanilla Townie (Kristel) and the First Day Lynch (jamesn). However, they appear to be newer players, and my roots are telling me that they're just trying to be helpful, or at the very least, appear helpful. As noted by the Role Cop (KielDaMan), I think that knowing the game roles and whatnot has really thrown us off our stumps. There's less of that unknown or mysterious feeling, and as a result there's less for us to be paranoid or suspicious about. I'm not particularly suspicious of anyone at this point. Then again, we stumps are a stupid breed, too. Please, this is not of the stump. I do not like being chopped up and made into a cabin. Or being used as a chair.

Greetings. I am the stump. You may find that I am quiet. Such is the way of the stump. I shall take the Mystery Pill. Why? Because I can feel in my bark that it is the right choice.

Mafia Mafia - Confirmation and Discussion
Adam replied to Zepher's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Crap. -
1. No less than six, but no more than eleven. 2. I haven't used emoticons since the great fire, but if I had to choose one, it would be . 3. I trust you Zepher, so I wouldn't change a thing.

Thanks for letting me aboard, Bob! I had a blast in what little time I had.

Thanks for letting me play, Bob! I had fun in the time I had. It's a shame, but a learning experience all the same. Good luck everyone!

I guess at this point my vote doesn't really mean anything, but vote: Jordan (Tamamono). I tend to be annoyingly indecisive and reluctant to place votes, especially on the first day, and for that I apologize. The only reason I find Jordan more suspicious than Mary is because he started taking that defeatist, "wait until I turn up Innocent tomorrow" attitude the moment a couple of people started voting for him. I'll let hope triumph over experience and pray that Jordan turns up as a Thief tomorrow. I'm not sure if it's funny or sad that one of the primary cases against Jordan is his constant use of . Then again, from what I hear about games of life, people have been lynched on the first day for doing stupid things like putting on accents ( ). Hopefully Jordan's lynch will give us something to work with.

Oh no, you're absolutely right; I was merely confused by the phrasing of your previous comment.

I went back and checked the link to the 9696 set and I'm very sorry to say that I'm an idiot. I saw "Body Forward" and thought that it meant it was a minifig piece. I've never heard of LEGO League. I was merely thinking that if a Thief was going to lie about his or her number, they would lie and give us a City set, not some random-megablocks set. Stacy mentioned that we would get details on Fabuland activities. What gives? I want to get my furry on! By the way Stacy, earlier you seemed pretty confident that at least one Thief had lied about his or her number. Were you simply working off of a logical conclusion that one of the latecomers who claimed City sets could be lying or did you have physical evidence?
-
I had not considered this; you make a good point. However, though most numbers seem to be between 3000 and 5000, there are several other outliers. Looking at the list that Richard compiled, those outliers are Richard himself (6455), George (7093), Thomas (8188) Diane (9468), Alice (9491), and of course, Mary (9696), with the possible addition of Betty (5980). All of those outliers are passengers, and all of those numbers correspond to non-City sets. Several of those numbers were posted before people started asking questions about them. If I were a Thief, I would definitely try to pick an outlier, but I would also try to pick a City set. The fact that all of the outliers are non-City strikes me as odd. While I don't feel confident voting for Mary, I'm waiting to hear her response to all this. Speaking of which, damn, dat bandwagon.
-
Aha! I called it: a building challenge! That said, I'd be interested to see if anyone lied when announcing his or her number. I would be suspicious of Mary's mistake had she given us a City set when she first announced her number, but since her first set wasn't a set at all, but rather an armpiece, I think it's harmless. Come to think of it, I wonder how this challenge will work. I remember one person saying that he or she had a $100 set, and I can hardly imagine our captain would ask us to spend our hard-earned cash. You raise a good point, but how can you be sure that a Thief lied about his or her number? I think it's certainly plausible, but I didn't realize that we had any concrete evidence to prove that somebody lied.
-
I think that it is very unlikely that the sets correspond to allegiance, but I do think it's possible that they either: 1) have something to do with a daily activity or 2) are meant to throw us off and get us as suspicious of one another as possible. Furthermore, I suspect that some Thieves may have given us fake numbers instead of real ones, worrying that their numbers might somehow indicate their allegiance. I'm still holding on to my theory that the numbers will have some role in a daily event. Speaking of which, what's going on with this Fabuland party? I've never been a furry before. Sounds kinky.
-
My Passenger Number is 4441, which corresponds to Police Dog Van - which also proves that passengers can have City sets. I'm guessing these numbers will somehow work into one of these daily activities that our illustrious Captain is promising. Perhaps we'd have to do some kind of building challenge? All this talk of numbers is making my arm itch. The only number I like talking about is my batting average. Is there a baseball field on this ship or do we have to have a catch with biscuits?
-
There are two things that I love in this world: breakfast and baseball. And I'm all outta baseball. I don't know what these fancy eggs are, but if it's food, I'll eat it!
-
Well hey there! The name's Matthew - though if you're a fan of baseball, then you probably already know that. That's right ladies... and gentlemen. I'm nothing special... just a lithe, hunky dude that happens to be a world famous baseball player. Settle down, friends. I know it's not every day that you get to take a cruise with a New York Yankee, but we've got bigger things to worry about than my batting average - which, if you're wondering, is an impressive .311. We've got a crisis aboard this ship: I don't have a drink yet! Did somebody say "free booze"?

I'd love a nice trans-Atlantic cruise; count me in if I can still grab a ticket! The most recent games I've played have been Police Infilitration and def's EB Mafia, but I played a bunch more back in the day, and I'll be free for a good two months.

All of the townies quite fortunately thought that Alopex was the scum killer, when he was in fact on the recruiting team. Only the other scum team could know that he wasn't Pandora's killer, thus allowing us to differentiate between the scum who PM'd him and the townies who tried to pull a sting. The scum was really lucky that we had these kinds of coincidences helping us (like how Zepher never ended up targeting a scum and how Shadows was framed on the same night that Pandora investigated him).

Again, thank you to def and the other players for making this such a fun game! This was my first real mafia game in literally years, so I was a bit nervous going in and I definitely felt a bit overwhelmed at times. I certainly learned a lot and had a good time doing it. Jim, thanks for your kind words. I really think that the scum win owes much of its victory to you. You were certainly towards the bottom of my list of suspects before I was converted (which turned out to be a real blessing) and after reading through the scum history, I could tell what a magnificent job was being done by the whole team. As for myself, I was kicking myself when I picked up on the clues Shadows left, but by he had already been outed. Also, I have to commend Big Cam for delivering the single best line of the entire game. "Well shit."

Thanks for recruiting me guys! Thanks for letting me play def. I had a ton of fun.

Euroricks Mafia day three: An end to Ricks
Adam replied to def's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
It's not just a matter of being quiet, it's a matter of being purposefully unhelpful. It's a matter of whether or not you contribute when you do talk, not just how frequently you talk. Using your roleplay action as a shield? Focusing on crackpot theories about game twists? These things can be interpreted as being deliberately evasive and unproductive so as to deliberately sidetrack the town. -
Euroricks Mafia day three: An end to Ricks
Adam replied to def's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
With a lack of any concrete physical evidence today (and even then, the supposedly concrete evidence we had yesterday led to the lynching of a townie), we have to rely on behavior today, and since I'm not in the best position to metagame or talk about "scum tells", I'm looking at the people who have avoided contributing. You're acting like you're already dead. Instead of responding to the brunt of the argument, you take a defeatist attitude. I haven't played mafia in a while, but I do remember this: it's an attempt to make the town think, "Herp derp, he's trying to martyr himself, he says he's going to die and turn up town. This means we shouldn't vote for him!" I don't find you suspicious because of your theory about everyone being a townie, and frankly, it bothers me that people are jumping on you because of it. What does strike me suspicious is your actions over the past two days. You took advantage of your roleplay action on the first day in order to avoid the responsibility of contributing to the discussion. As Hinckley proved yesterday, a roleplay action doesn't prevent you from helping out, but using that action to sit back and excuse yourself from the fray for a day is definitely suspicious. Even yesterday and today, when you didn't have a roleplay action to hide behind, you have provided little comment. Vote: Big Cam. Prove us wrong. Be useful. Respond to our accusations and provide us with real opinions about who you think is town and who you think is scummy. Until then, my vote will stand. I don't see a case against Pandora - I was asleep during her bandwagon yesterday, but I don't see one there either - and I can understand some of Zepher's actions as falling under the category of "act scummy to lure out the scum". You are the person I find the most eyebrow-raising. By the way, I apologize for my tardy reply here. I've been reading up on the watcher, who I think we need to have a serious discussion about. Scouty seems confident that he or she is town while Pandora seems confident that he or she is scum. I think it's definitely possible that the watcher is a scum role trying to seek out other scumbags (I raised this point yesterday), and even if the watcher is a town role, he or she was begging to be converted. Who says that this conversion hasn't happened? -

Yep, that's what I was suggesting. While I'm here, I'll vote: Hinckley. -
Eurobricks Mafia Day Two: Moonlight Medicine
Adam replied to def's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Good point; that does imply a discontinuity between his role and what he claims or believes his role to be. However, how does Hinckley know who the watcher is? Scouty replaced the watcher's name in his PMs to Hinckley. -

Adam replied to def's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
The only person who has "confirmed" the existence of the watcher is Scouty, so if you trust his argument - which has suddenly become much more reliable following the death of Danny - then you have to accept that actual role names assigned by def might have little to no bearing on the role description. Scouty's role is called the "seer", which is apparently much different from the mafiawiki description, so it's highly possible that the "watcher" has a different action than the traditional watcher. What I find most troublesome about this watcher is not his loose grasp on his role, but instead his willingness to betray the town. His constant hints to Scouty about wanting to turncoat to the scum side implies that he or she is in fact a townie (at the moment), but that he or she is incredibly unreliable. Those hints could also be interpreted as someone trying to connect with the other scum team: the watcher is literally asking to be converted, so maybe the watcher is in fact a scum role. As for Scouty, I trust his claim. Some people (namely Hinckley) have been arguing that having a "seer" role would be unlikely or that his night action is strange, but this is a game where we have someone who curses people to poop and sing during the day. Making umbrella statements about what kinds of roles and actions are in the game is fruitless.
