Mafia After Dark - Night 2: Mean Streets
Adam replied to Tamamono's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I'm going to go ahead and Vote: Cap'n Rolfe (Capt. Redblade). I was put off by his hyper-aggressiveness last night, and I think his vote was unreasonable. Then earlier today he tried to act all easy-going and simply more partial to the idea of a policy lynch than a no lynch. I find that bipolarity disturbing and unhelpful. *SQUACK* And Olly does, too! -

Olly, stop that NOW! Sorry, Olly's just a little spooked, is all. I'd also be more inclined to believe that Donny (darkdragon) was killed by a Ferrari, despite the somewhat unique MO. As we are so few in number, I'm a bit doubtful that there would be a murderous third party in our midst. That said, we obviously can't jump to conclusions about who exactly killed Donny (darkdragon) and about whether or not there was a kill interrupted during the daytime. I think Priscilla (purpearljellyblob) raises a solid point with Donny's comments discussions that were "distracting us from seeing what is really happening". I recall that he specifically said: Unfortunately, nobody had voted before he made his comments, which meant that there was nobody under particularly more scrutiny than anybody else at that point. There had been a tiff between Shane (Shadows) and Colin (CorneliusMurdock), but that argument had sort of originated with the idea of a no-lynch. I think it's reasonable to conclude that if, and I mean if, Donny (darkdragon) was killed by a Ferrari, then his opposition to the idea of a no-lynch played a role. -

I'm not sure where you're getting that I wanted a policy lynch to happen, or that I contradicted myself. As I explained yesterday, you seem to have misinterpreted what I said. Now if you folks will excuse me, we had a long night and I'd like to take a nap next to my Tammie. -
Mafia After Dark - Night 1: The Godfather
Adam replied to Tamamono's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I stated that I am personally against policy lynching, which does not change the fact that there are people who believe otherwise. I quite clearly declared that I was suspicious of people who are irrationally hostile to others for their honest opinions - while I dislike the policy lynch, I have never angrily reacted against someone because they support it (or any other gameplay mechanic or strategy). If you look at my statement to Cap'n Rolfe (Capt. Redblade), you'll see that I explained reasoning against the policy lynch in a logical and reasonable manner: I think it's reasonable for me to say that a certain element of gameplay is debatable, state my opinion on it, and then not detail all of the viewpoints and arguments for each and every side on the matter. There have been plenty of arguments against policy lynching made by others here as well, yourself included, so I figured I wouldn't need to parrot them on those points. In fact, part of my opposition to policy lynching is that I have been the unfortunate Townie victim of it in past games... of life. In my experience (and in my readings of Tammie's books), I'm not sure I've ever seen a policy lynch that has done anything but hurt the town. You state in your accusation that you are voting "without any misinterpretation", but I think you did misinterpret what I said. If any part of what I have said, am saying, or will say is unclear, then please let me know and I will try to be more concise and clear in the future. -
Mafia After Dark - Night 1: The Godfather
Adam replied to Tamamono's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
What? No, I'm very much against policy lynching and refuse to do it. What I said was that there are plenty of people who mistakenly feel that policy lynching is a good idea on the first day. Just in case there's any confusion about the term "policy lynch", it's a term that means lynching someone for arbitrary reasons. In our games... of life, policy lynching generally refers to lynching people just because they're quiet. The only reason I say this is because I've seen some people advocating the benefits of a policy lynch, then talking about how they're promoting the lynch of somebody who looks scummy. By the way Cap'n Rolfe (Capt. Redblade), I agree that voting is very important in this particular game... of life because of our inability to talk privately, which seriously inhibits PR's (I wonder if the Ferrari's are also unable to talk to one another? The rules don't really specify that...). That said, policy lynching sucks for the mere reason that it prevents the town from lynching somebody who could legitimately be scum. You've voted for Jamie (jamesn) apparently because you think he's scummy, and you've outlined your reasons why, which is the kind of action that the town should be taking, not policy lynching. I think this is a good point. Personally I find people who are irrationally hostile to opponents of well debated concepts, like policy lynching, to be more suspicious than those who reasonably suggest such concepts, like a lynchless first day- er, night. Now if you'll excuse me for a moment, I have to make sure that Baby is listening to music during his nap. They say that babies- er, monkeys become more intelligent if they listen to the Backstreet Boys when they're taking naps! -

I'm also discontent with policy lynching quiet people. *yip! yip!* What's that, Pablo? You don't like it either? What a smart doggypoo! Tammie and the rest of the family have told me many stories about other families that have tried to root out moles, and policy lynching has never been very successful. I do recognize that it feels more viable on the first night because we have so little to go on, but I stand by my discontent! What do you say, Baby? Do you- oh dear, your diapers need a changing... -

My hubby would never send Baby away. Never. Isn't that right, Tammie? How could anybody want to lock up such an adorable little monkeypoo? -

Come now, Baby, you're making a scene! I'm so sorry Byron, but after all he is still in diapers, you can't blame him! What's this? Ferrari moles?! Don't worry, my sweet Tammie, we'll find these scummy scoundrels and then let Baby eat them alive! -

BABY! Baby, get back here sweetums, we need to get you a new diaper, and you're making Pablo all upset! Oh dear, I'm sorry about my little troublemaker. Tam, pookums, your Adelaide is here. -
1. By my count I've played in 12, with half of those taking place about four years ago and the other half being recent. 2. I've certainly improved since my first six mafia games - back then I was completely horrendous, and the tempo was a bit different. My most damning weakness is a quietness and lack of helpfulness in public - I like to think that I'm logical when I do post, but I'm not really all that helpful in day threads. This is the first and foremost aspect of my play that I'd like to improve: becoming a more active and more helpful public player. That said, I do think that I'm good at surviving as scum and as a PR, partly because I fly under the radar and because that's what people are used to from me. 3. I always enjoy rules and modifiers that change things up in these games, so I'm all for it! A lack of PM should go a long way towards improving my skills and activity in the day threads.
-
Thanks for the feedback! I'm almost always a vanilla townie, so I always treasure the opportunity to play a PR. After my atrocious turn as a protector, I'm glad I was able to actually assist the town this game.

Agreed - this is honestly the most fun I've had in mafia in a while, and I can't compliment you enough for your first time as host, Trumpet. Like the others I also think that the CMF identities was a really unique and clever idea. I think it was refreshing to have a more straightforward game, especially one that was so well hosted.

Yay! Good job team! As was revealed above, I was the vigilante, or Heroic Knight if you will. I had several personality quirks which I forgot about after the first day. Sorry, though I loved playing the game and I loved playing as the illustrious Wonder Whore. I also can't apologize enough for my weeklong hiatus. I never expected it to cripple my activity so much. To round off the apologies, I'm sorry CallMePie. :( I miss being your bitch. Also, damn. Purpearljellyblob. The town really owes most of its victory to you. You really are a player to be reckoned with! I also think that mostlytechnic and Esurient did a great job as the head of the town block (even if I had a brief feeling of paranoia yesterday ). In short, go town!

I will also put my trust in the town block. It seems to be well put-together - we've already gotten three scum so far - and I trust it's judgement. Vote: Balthasar Jameson (Kristel)

It's a shame that we lost some town last night, but DAMN. Someone needs to change the "jelly" in Purpearljellyblob's name to "Jesus". I mean what the hell. If she can hear me right now, bravo - three accusations and all three were scum! I'd be very happy if Abe (Fred Dan Yam) was being 100% accurate with his slip up yesterday, which would mean that there are only four scum, three of whom are dead. However, that's wishful thinking. Do we have a new investigation result? Can anyone share any other information that might have been uncovered in the night? I almost forgot - I have discarded my secret identity of Danyelle Defalco. I am now the magnificent WONDER WHORE. My logo? You'll see it on the night sky when there is someone in need of rescue. It is THE SILHOUETTE OF ME, NUDE, TWERKING. My superpower? Need you even ask? I bamboozle and confound scum with the jiggle of my snow white breasts and the tender twerk of my bodacious butt. Now you better ask yourselves one question - twerking hard, or hardly twerking?
-
I concur that such information is too sensitive to be shared publically. And now, for reasons that have been stated by myself and others, I shall vote: Abe (Fred Dan Yam).

As the Backstreet Boys once sang, "Oh my god we're back again!" In short, after my week on tour, showing off my new brand of skin-paling products, I'm back in the saddle. I apologize for my inactivity - at least one good thing came out of it; I learned how to pole dance! Ah, but I'm afraid that my absence has taken a toll on me. I must re-read and then return at the end of the day to say, "Welp - still re-reading!" Just kidding. Benvolio (jamesn), I'll kick things off by answering your concerns. You seem to be upset with my remark yesterday - I'm not sure I understand the trouble. I was merely saying that I expected there to be more skepticism surrounding the investigator claim, especially considering the fact that we've seen quite a few scumbags trick the town with devilish claims in past games... of life. Furthermore, just because I anticipated doubts never meant that I couldn't see the merits of the claim and it's need to be tested - I stresses both, and you yourself quoted that. If you - or anyone else, for that matter - have any further questions, then please fire away. I recognize that I have missed a lot of the action by going AWOL, and I'd like to remedy that by being more active. With that said, why don't we get to it? Abraham (Fred Dan Yam) had come under significant fire recently, and I'd like to add a quick comment there. First off, his comment about "looks like we're halfway done" reads scum slip to me, though with 20 initial players and no third parties I would've expected there to be around six scum - a 1:5 ratio seems a tad low. Here's what really caught my eye though - it's in his most frequently-cited post: A couple of people have already recognized its similarity to Carlisa's (Endgame) defense against Jelly. However, what really irked me was the fact that "Honest Abe" (Fred Dan Yam) here flat-out defended Carlisa (Endgame) in his post! Moving on, I've spent the last few minutes combing through Carlisa's (Endgame) posts to find some connections and see if she appeared to be buddying up with anybody. Unfortunately, my search turned up nothing, really. It's already been noted that she flew middle of the pack, and her history proves this. With that lead coming up dry, I started sifting through Paris's (Tammo) comments. Then, when I realized she had made about a trillion of them, I focused my attention on the concise list of suspicions that she privately messaged to Eric (Dannylonglegs). What I found was this: Confirmed town (Dave, Jelly, and LegoDad) were on her scum list, with the first two being "I think this person is scum, but I'm not 100%" and the latter being one of her top suspicions. Melanie (mostlytechnic) is the exception to this rule - Paris (Tammo) joked that she is "mostlytownie". Confirmed scum (Endgame) was on her townie list. Abe (Fred Dan Yam) was, it seems, her biggest suspect, but this could certainly be a "bus". While the various exceptions demonstrate what we already know, that Paris's (Tammo) suspicions are far from a foolproof guide to catching scum, I think it's likely that at least one or two scum are lurking in her "I have a mild town read" list (that's where Carlisa (Endgame) was, and she's smart enough to know that anybody that she expressed strong feelings about could fall under suspicion). If you'll excuse me, I'm off to try my hand at one of these "analyze and quote every single post someone has made" things which seem so pop-a-ular. Drop-kicks that bitch Margaret (Capt. Redblade) and snuggles up against Juliet (CallMePie), panting lustily and slipping dress down to expose more pale skin.

Collectible Minifigures Mafia - Day Two: Smushed Bodies
Adam replied to TrumpetKing's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Shit, guys. I've just had my first ten minutes of Internet time in three days. I'm sorry for that inactivity, and I'm even sorrier to say that the next four days look to be just as sparse Internet-wise. That said, I will try to get online as often as possible, and I will briefly (my time runs short) discuss what I've taken away from the day. After that, I'll put together more extensive comments in word processing so I have them ready for when next I'm online. I was generally surprised by the investigator claim and discussion. Even with Tammo's public accusations of LegoDad, why would the investigator take so much of a risk in claiming to LegoDad? Why would he or she claim this early in the first place? And most of all, why were people so quick to take the investigation result as gospel? Hell, people were rejoicing. I expected people to be more skeptical following a certain role cop claim in an old western. That said, I do believe that the scum would be foolish to make a false role claim this early on, and I agree that the claim needs to be tested. By the way, Jelly never messaged me. Not surprising, since she and I have never chatted before. I must head out now, but I'll be back ASAP - hopefully ASAP translates into "tomorrow". Later. -
Collectible Minifigures Mafia - Day One
Adam replied to TrumpetKing's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
What I find strange is that, at least in my experience, Britt (Piratedave84) plays better than this. Defenses that devolve into "I was drunk, please don't vote for me!" and "Go ahead and vote for me, a scum of a bitch like you would do that," sound strange coming out of her mouth. I keep coming back to the thought that a scum team wouldn't let her flail around and post like that. That said, I've been screwed over too many times by foolishly thinking, "No scumbag would ever do something that scummy." I don't want to ignore a possible scum slip-up. Furthermore, the argument that Britt (Piratedave84) was drunk works against her as much, if not more, than it does for her. Wouldn't it be more likely for a scummo to slip up and say something like, "Don't analyze posts," when they are drunk, their judgement impaired? Whatever the case, Britt (Piratedave84) is the most suspicious person of the day. I shall vote: Brittney Alfredo (Piratedave84). Pants eagerly and rolls over, whispering, "Fire my loins..." -

Collectible Minifigures Mafia - Day One
Adam replied to TrumpetKing's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
*eagerly munches on the dog biscuit, licks lips invitingly* Mmmm that's good! I think the fact that we've seen some reasonably insightful discussion in the past few hours - for instance, in the reactions to Britt (Piratedave84) and Melanie (mostlytechnic) - should be enough to disprove the naysayers who claim that no good analysis or nothing worth analyzing comes from Day One. My skin senses are tingling - and just like several others here, they're telling me to be suspicious of Britt (Piratedave84). Trying to argue that scum lynches and solid leads are difficult to find on the first day is one thing, but suggesting that there is absolutely nothing to analyze (and thus, that we shouldn't even attorney to analyze) is a completely different story. It feels like an attempt to push town discussion away from something useful and towards a random (and likely Townie) lynch. The fact that scum lynches on Day One are rare shouldn't discourage us from working towards one and relying on a policy lynch, and it certainly shouldn't discourage us from lynching over the course of this game... of life. In response to Melanie (mostlytechnic) and her "defense" of Britt (Piratedave84), I can see where people are coming from in finding it suspicious. That said, my personal reaction to the post was that it was an attempt to clarify the meaning of the term "policy lynch", so I'm currently more inclined to suspect Britt (Piratedave84) than Melanie (mostlytechnic). On a semi-related note, I'm surprised that discussion about a no-lynch policy lasted for so long. It's as if it was the go-to topic to discuss if you wanted to echo stuff that had already been said but appear as if you were contributing. Before I place a vote, I'd like to hear what Britt (Piratedave84) has to say - that is, if she can pull herself away from her board games long enough to give us a response! *pants eagerly, caressing collar and licking pale, beautiful skin* -
