9398 - Lego Technic 4x4 Crawler

Seem like an enhancement to prevent further damage to the grey axle when head on any hard object. Yes, I was confused during building and they actually missed out this part. -

I've pick-up a 4" action figure and advance my model. The cockpit overview shows how the figure fit into my secret machine which I can continue to explore with when the batt runs flat [: )] -

Thanks! Most RC in the market has light-weight bodyshell and the focus are all in the motors, suspension, wheel and radio connectivity etc, basically everything on performance. -

I've just submitted my 1st creation of 9398 with the following rationals: 1) Lightened Body Shell (cut down the usage of parts) 2) Low CG (build as low as possible) 3) Single Driver Seat (full size "recaro" looking seat with leg room) 4) Seat base will secure existing battery case (secure by 2 pins) 5) Roll-cage style for protection (for strength) 6) The overall chassis are intact except for the missing wheel arc (original joints are intact) 7) Radio box has been shifted 3-4 holes down (reduce the height clearance) I'm not done with the build as i'm lacking good lego parts to make it better. Will submit a revised version if possible. -

Nice creation! Believe it will be even better if the wheels extend out a little more. If this model win, it will be quite sellable due to the fact that the Chinese 2013 Zodiac is Snake! Haha, China toy makers would be interested in your design! -

Looks like a multi purpose van. I like your fender creation! -
My first build caused me some confusion on the front chassis. There was no mentioning about the overall reasons why some would mod it rather a diagram from TLG explaining how it work and why 8110 is build this way. The Panhard Rod has been discussed many times before and following by the book, I found myself a victim for hours of checking back, rebuilding, fault searching and finally decided to build it my on way which was a solution found out by many fans: Here's my reasons: - the overall symmetrical looking with the body shell. (Not slanted) - the exposure from both front tires against the fender look better. - the holding angle (front view) of the front suspension are better looking. (\ / instead of \ |) With the Panhard Rod issue, the Front Suspension also gotten my attention: Never able the compress smoothly without the cab secure back to the chassis. Some holding power must be applied to the top mount of the suspension. No issue with the rear suspension. - I relocate the suspension mounting 1 stud toward the body at least to make the linkage of the suspension rod better. This is to prevent the rod to bend away from the body when you push down the suspension. We should apply force at different angle to make sure the compression is smooth and I don't remember there's any discussion on the front suspension.

Best to develop one without reference to many ideas that has been posted up. There's always a "why I never think of that" when comes to viewing someone's work. Always keep the best for last. I started technic building recently and 9398 will be my 2nd build. Instead of opening up the box to start building it, I've been ordering additional parts to explore during my first build. Will see if I'm able to submit my own design. Try not to look at other's creation as much as possible. -

I'm into white body shell and has been buying parts to make it perfect. Only problem with white panel #13 & #14 are not commonly found. Would be glad if someone can link me for the following purchase: Technic, Panel Fairing #13 Large Short Smooth, Side A (White x 3) Technic, Panel Fairing #14 Large Short Smooth, Side B (White x 3)
