  1. We need to re-focus here. Granted, some parts come and go, especially in different colors. However, the 1×16 technic brick is slowly disappearing ... in ALL colors.
  2. It's been on my wanted list for a while ... finally bought one today ... coming all the way from the Netherlands (still cheaper than buying local)
  3. Some might not object, especially those who're pure 'studless'. However, one of the key building blocks of Technic is no more (or almost). Yes, I'm talking about the 1×16 technic brick/beam ... It is slowly/aggressively being phased out as it shows in fewer sets ... One reason must be because it used twice the plastic of the 1×15 liftarm. What pieces do you see slowly becoming extinct? I know some are gone already (the 8070 spindle) ... but the 1x16 brick?
  4. Cold ... in Atlanta??? .... If I follow this argument, I need to buy few more ... I'm in Chicago. :)
  5. The single EV3 brick can handle only 4 motors. Now, there were 3rd party contraptions that enabled you to multiplex multiple sensors in the past (not motors, primarily on RIS series). The most straightforward solution would be to use 5×EV3 and somehow have them all talk to each other ... not an easy feat, and you may need to upload a different OS than the stock version.
  6. That is exactly my point guys ... over the years I've accumulated several sets already (e.g. 4 different yellow cranes), the previous wheel loader, and have many motors ... thus I'll most likely skip this set and wait for the 2015 ... unless I find it heavily discounted.
  7. Thank you.
  8. Thank you D3K, I'm aware of the many topics about this set and apologize for starting a new one. However, I wanted to hear 'specifically' from those who were pondering and have not decided yet. Yes, all info is there, but maybe we can have a more focused discussion.
  9. I've been debating whether this set is worthy of my collection (as many on here have for sure). There is no 'waow' factor about the parts collection, though for display, it may be a good set. (Need deeper shelves though) What's YOUR take?
  10. Well ... for those of us who are not 'spring chicken' ... Peeron was THE ultimate resource before commercial sites took over (e.g. BrickLink). Gotta reckon Peeron offers some valuable information that is not on other sites (You'd only know if you've used it). Many of us have also uploaded our personal collections there and 'identify' with it. You may think it's not a good site, and that is fair ... it's all about opinions and personal experience (or the lack thereof).
  11. This used to be my preferred site (and still is) when I started years ago. Lately however, the site has not been updated though it still offers valuable information. Anyone knows what's the deal? Owner no longer interested or too busy? Too much competition? I'd hate to see it 'disappear'.
  12. I've noticed two trucks (maybe more) depicting decals/stickers with a rhinoceros. These are the 8285 Tow Truck and the 8041 Race Truck. Not sure where that comes from ... anyone knows? ... same artist?
  13. Bricklink says the wheel DOES exist in black ... in the Ninjago skull truck 2506-1 ... or is that a mistake in BrickLink's inventory ?
  14. In my understanding (and many may not agree), Technic usually (historically) refers to some functionality with gears and similar elements. Other themes may use technic parts, but that does not make them technic. The line gets a bit blurry with some of the Creator series and even some of the City sets (crane and construction vehicles) and later the Ferris wheel and walking dino. I wonder if, within TLG, the product lines are so 'clearly' defined ...
  15. Keep in mind that such truck is a good collection of parts ... especially the large black panels (5x)
  16. You can try and replicate a truss-type construction and use triangles such as pythagoras (3/4/5) or multiples.
  17. Thanks, yes please send pm ... I have few already, but never enough.
  18. I'm still going through the book now and then ... and have not covered all of it ... It's like a cup of Cappuccino, gotta enjoy it slowly. In any event, there were a couple of 'masterpieces' out there that I thought should belong in the book. These are Nico71's Citroen 2CV, a unique car in its workings and realism, and the mega ski lifts reported on EB a couple of times. Granted, one cannot put everything in a book (GBC?) ... but what was the logic (or selection criteria) to include some models and not others? So far, I feel the winning entries were more Model-Team as if there was a heavier emphasis on 'looks'.
  19. Mind sharing where u got the flex axles from?
  20. Thank you, that's exactly the thread I was looking for. A side question: Is there a way (within eurobricks) to tag few threads and make them your 'favorite' and available anytime you log in?
  21. I could not find BlakBird's recent thread requesting MPDs ... but while browsing bricksafe for his (amazing) renders, I noticed the 8450 was not there ... I have a 90% complete LXF if anyone can make it into LDR/MPD. The missing parts (panels) are not available in LDD. http://www.eurobrick...pic=79234&st=25
  22. I just checked 8596 on bricklink, and it has a good assortment of technic parts ... I'd say go get it. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?S=8596-1
  23. From my experience, many of the bionicle sets have a fair amount of technic pieces. I'd say this is mostly true for the vehicles (Skopio, Rocktoh, ...) and less so for the poseable figures. For example, Skopio has many beams, tread links, and a multitide of connectors. If you have the actual set numbers, might be worthwhile to check the inventory in bricklink.com and see if the parts would be of any use. Some bionicle sets had a minimum (if none at all) of technic parts and u do not want those.
  24. Yes, I'm doing an LDD of Crowkillers Murcielago ... and need a way to attach the wheels ... lol ... maybe I can convert it to a hover-craft.
