I really like that signal box. You could hide some PF stuff in it to operate the gates.- 13 replies

I just found this http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/49924# . But it would require a lot of Maersk blue. Anyway, it has a nice booth and ladder,

This is top level brick-modelling.
-
That idea is actually taken from the new cargo train crane. Thank you dr_spock, I actually have the exam tomorrow, so I am doing a bit of procrastination right now . I have changed the design to use less technic bricks, because of price. I did not order parts for the booth and ladder, I will do it after I rework them. The pricetag for now is about 30-35 Euros from brickling. I will upload the update in real bricks when they arrive.

So I did a small rebuild. I raised the whole stucture a little, so now it can paas containers over loaded cars with ease. The booth is rather just a concept until I come up with something better. Thank you for the feedback , it is nice to share ideas for inspiration. And here is the .lxf : https://www.dropbox.com/s/dj9byitfjqjp6dw/Crane.lxf

Well I thought about making it taller, using 6004925, but I have only ordered 4 . I didn´t put a booth on it, because I just wanted to make a slightly different version of the crane from the new cargo train set. Cheap and simple was my motto , but now I see this will not be the case.
-
Well, it is a WIP and I am open to suggestions. Right now I don´t have much time at my hands, but I will post any updates soon. But I agree that a control booth would be nice, but that would also require some ladders or stairs... I will look into it.

Hello, so instead of studying I decided to plan a gantry crane inspired by the new 60052 cargo train set. So it is a MOD, not a MOC. I have already ordered some bricks, but not all. Here is what I came up with: I used multiple wheels, because I think it will weight quite a lot. I tried to make it compatible with the Maersk containers and keep it as simple as possible. Also being this big, I devised a way to make its strong - I used some technic parts to strenghten the overall structure as you can see here: I still don´t know how to make the winch work. I only came up with a temporary solution for a two rope variant. So all in all, I think this will look nice (maybe after some changes) with my Maersk train. Oh, and here is it compared to the containers and the .lxf file https://www.dropbox....qu6vu/Crane.lxf :D Oh, and of course I will have to add a shed of some kind...

Ok, so I decided to bricklink some parts, because I cannot wait until the summer . I will try to make my own Maersk version of the gantry crane. I have already started in LDD, but I have an exam tomorrow, so I will share it later when it is finished. It is really cool that i can get the support 6004925 in white (http://www.brickset..../?query=6004925)

Well, it also seems that we are back to 4x8 containers. Or should I say palletes ? (it is "paleta" in Slovak) I am sure many owners of the older sets will be pleased with the new cargo train However, I plan to keep the Maersk containers (after investing in them), but I really want that gantry crane!

This is the only one I know of http://m.flickr.com/#/photos/102607428@N08/12164322465/sizes/o/

New from town forum : http://m.flickr.com/...691215/sizes/m/ The user TheLazyChicken posted it there.

Very nice idea and execution. The video is also skillfully done, only thing the building sequence is rather long. Maybe if you do a slideshow of pictures taken each time after adding some bricks? I have seen these cross-tracks made on a 3D printer. I have been thinking about 3D printing a larger curve radius, but I have no access to a 3D printer. My college has one, but it is just an educational prototype and not very accurate.

That is actually a better idea. I agree with Zed_43. At least you have more options available .

Hello Loganoc, you can always buy a new one on BrickLink.com: http://www.bricklink...arch.asp?q=8866 . Or you could rebuild the train to use the new Power Functions , as seen here http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=45003, which would be a lot more expensive.

Cannot wait for more pictures.

Thanks for the pictures. I hope the roof in the top part of the station picture is made out of these : http://www.brickset.com/parts/?part=4211819.

Hi - New to the forum and a story with a somewhat sad ending.

Beautiful, you have all of the SantaFe stuff. The SantaFe train is on my wishlist, right after being able to afford it . If in good condition, could be worth a small fortune. -
So could the station have also a rail-crossing? Or are you referring to the older set? I really wish for a standalone rail-crossing. And an american Amtrack passenger train ,
-
I hope the passenger train will be an american styled train. An Amtrac train would be nice with my Maersk

Hello, I live in Prague, Czech Republic. Cool idea by the way.
-
It was mentioned in the video, that the hull is azure. Isn´t it really Maersk blue? They wouldn´t make an azure Maersk ship, would they?
-
This is beautiful, I surely must incorporate this in the future. Off to googling LEGO train bridges !! I took the liberty to look at your layout - simply impressing.
