  1. Outback Mission🐨🦘🐍 Safari Mission🦓🐆🦩 Mountain Mission🐐🦅🐻 Forest Mission🐿🦡🦌 Farmyard Mission🐑🦃🐖 Deep Sea Mission🐙🦞🐟 Arctic Mission 🐻‍❄️🐇🦭 Kelp Forest Mission 🦦🐙🦈 I’m here all week …
  2. Also - none of the animals in the Wildlife Missions set are the dual moulded ones, which some of the unused suggestions you make @Roebuck are. Presumably a considered cost ‘ production thing. Hope we get done more animal-heavy missions sets though!
  3. I know, just pointing out that the design thinking couldn’t have been initially Africa.
  4. Which is interesting, as some of the promotional artwork had the cub as a dark puma variant (looked more dark brown than black, but deffo the puma), and that implies that the designers were thinking more N America, but that somehow it was switched to a black panther. 🤷🏽‍♂️ As I say, I totally get why they use some generic and wide ranging animals, or some that could be different species. But then they also do the very specific ones (toco toucan, striped skunk, bateleur eagle, South African white lion, great grey owl…) so … it’s a weird mix. Anyways YES to more animals. YES to more useable prints and recolours of existing moulds. and if Lego need ideas on what animals we need … there’s a whole thread about it LOL
  5. If you look at the Lego species *specific* to the continents, very few exist only in Asia (tiger), Australia (none) or South America (toucan). My reading of the open winged sand blue owl is that it’s based on an African species. you certainly have hares in Africa and Asia, but they’re not species anyone would associate with South America. Likewise no one thinks ‘owl’ when you say South America or Asia! I can totally see why they prefer animals which are found in different parts of the world - so that they can be used in different settings, but when you look at the Lego animals which are very specific and recognisable at species (ish) level, then it’s clear that most of those are either North American or African. So, for example, you can kind of easily make up an ecosystem of animals from North America or Africa; but if you try and do the same with other continents then you have to rely on not-so-well-recognised species, or species with a wider range. Yeah those glitches are a pain.
  6. That’s er interesting
  7. It’s been on good discount here in the U.K. Regularly available for £20, which, for a set with a unique lion, unique printed python, a lion cub, and quite a bit of scenery ‘bits’ is pretty reasonable imho.
  8. I think it was just in reference to the 4+ set (so not elephant one) Agreed re Australian animals. South America, and Asia are also poorly represented in Lego animal terms.
  9. I guess, if nothing else, we can make our own squirrel farms … 🐿🐿🐿
  10. Love this. Such an elegant build and pose 🙌🏼 I also love how your sparing use of curved and sloped pieces makes them work extra successfully in the build.
  11. So many beautiful things … 🤩 By the way, some new pics out of the farm polybag in the wild … *may* be a render issue, but it looks like the rabbit in that set is light grey after all. Which, if true, is good as another way to get the new colour.
  12. No, please. No slacking.
  13. Indeed. Still no real consistency though. Lest we forget that the rabbit, cat, chihuahua, gull etc all originated in CMFs before getting around. The double and triple moulding thing is a realistic concern, but that also begs the question, why invest in that design for just a one off? Also some creatures are clearly the draw for the CMF (such as the toucan) but others, including that complex dual-moulded mouse were really an added extra to a costume CMF that didn’t *need* a brand new intricately moulded accessory … anyways, I want more mouses and toucans and flamingos. @roebuck make it happen
  14. So, was just thinking where we are at with various recently ‘released’ animals that have only shown up once, especially seeing the new foal recolour coming in the City advent calendar. The biggest source of new animal moulds has undoubtedly been the CMFs, with useable ‘normal’ animals showing up in many of the licensed themes as well as the classic CMF. to that end, the animals that came in CMF which we haven’t seen show up elsewhere (BAM, other sets) are - Flamingo - Mouse - Hermit crab - Toucan the only other animal moulds that have *recently* been introduced, but only shown up once are - Otter (only available as transparent glittery patronus) - Mammoth (only came in one set, and I’m stretching ‘recently’ here, as it’s been a few years now) Is that about right? The pattern is definitely for animal moulds to be reused or show up in other sets or BAM variants. So we should expect them somehow. I’d love to see these critters get recolours, and to be honest it seems a wee bit odd that something like the mouse hasn’t done so already. (I’m not including fantasy creatures, mohawk creatures, ghost creatures, or Friendsified creatures)
  15. Not that I can remember. Which might also mean it appears in another set to come …
  16. Yeah it would just have been good to establish early on that they were simply using brick colours and not dodging the perceived-girly ones. Now that they have left it so long, including them, or ‘duller’ colours seems more of a risk. to me it’s not about the colour, it’s the design of the pack and figures on front that make the difference
  17. Tbh a lot of that also comes from the adults buying stuff for or with kids, determining who it’s for based on the pack colour. I think that nonsense is starting to break down, and -for example- recent changes in using bright pink more in Soccer / Football strips is a good way to challenge assumptions.
  18. Yeah, they definitely seem to be using less reddish brown for animals, and the dark orange is punchier. But it does mean the printed perched owls and the printed flying owls don’t have direct counterparts (other than Hedwig). Still, this one is vastly superior to the tan BAM one, in my humble opinion … ;) Think the other good thing is that the baby of course can just represent a smaller species if you want it to. It’s only a ‘baby’ if you want it to be. The lime green is nice, but also weird that they haven’t done any in olive green yet, seems like an obvious colour to go for.
  19. The baby reindeer in Friends calendar is the same one that has been used in the Disney Frozen set. I just picked up my Wildlife Rescue Mission set - and stoked to get the new animals. 🐊🦉🐇🐆 Can confirm that the baby crocagator has ‘normal’ black eyes, which is good for usefulness … but does mean there is totally NO consistency in crocagator eye colours or printing 🤷🏽‍♂️ New dark orange flying owl is an instant favourite. New hare just has eye printing, again simple black ones (rabbits have nose/mouth printing too). The panther cub is cute, with yellow eyes, pink nose, and grey printed muzzle.
  20. In some respects I do. I just think that Lego has always been a luxury commodity. Do agree with @Robert8 though, that the CMFs will be killed off when the pricing becomes ‘too much’ for the core audience.
  21. City advent calendar pic leaked - seems to have the dark orange chicken, dark grey kitten and a new colour of the foal (in white)
  22. Like inflation isn’t a thing, and fuel isn’t getting more expensive? Not sure it’s ‘disgusting’
  23. I think it’s hopeful conjecture … I would suggest folks don’t get carried away, lol
  24. Yeah me too. here the farm sets only seem to be available in Smyths toy stores out of the big retailers. At least for day one! So might be a similar situation, lego stores and one preferred retailer
