  1. I wonder if we will ever see a return to the somewhat clumsy female-ification of CMFs? I’m thinking of the ‘lady’ robot in series 11 and cyclops in series 13. Somehow they managed to be both offensive and hilarious … but I think we have moved on. Yes! Though I much prefer it when the defined muscles are on fleshies. I bought *so many* swimsuit Batman figures …
  2. Man, I love Demolition Dummy. My recollection of series one - so VERY long ago - was that there were far too many magicians in circulation. Heady days though. I can remember a while back someone suggesting this as the norm for CMFs, and necessarily also excluding any gender-specific elements on the torso and legs to allow it to work. There were conniptions!
  3. As an aside, I really LOVED the DnD CMF figures that came with both ‘male’ and ‘female’ heads
  4. My take on that figure is that it’s a non-binary person. It isn’t specifically gender-coded, be it with ‘curves’, eyelashes, facial hair or whatever and is therefore ambiguous. It *could* be a man, or a woman, or someone who’s non-binary. I think that’s probably the only way that Lego could give us characters like this - and, yes, they can be interpreted by people according to their own bias - as neither presenting male or female. I’d like to see more of the CMFs like this. To the wider LGBT representation in CMFs, I don’t see how that’s possible since people don’t specifically look gay or bi or whatever. So I think we will possibly see more nods to things like pride flag colours, unicorns, and bear paws, and be left to interpret them as we want. As I’m fond of saying - all my minifigures are Queer anyways 🤷🏽‍♂️
  5. I think it’s *fine* when there’re solid series, and a good mix of figures; but I think it’s less-than-ideal for many specific ‘themes’ when figures are few, and far between. It feels like ‘normal’ mixed CMF series are very highly prized nowadays, but also that any series of 12 figures can easily be a miss for people looking for specific things.
  6. You mean ‘beg them to do do do do do do do’ surely?
  7. I think that Lego ‘distinguish’ between elements of religion that are labelable as mythology / fantasy from others. Basically I don’t think they would ever countenance something directly representing an existing / present day religion, but the religions of antiquity I think are fair game. Lego has also already more than dipped its toe into ancient Egyptian religion with the superb Anubis guards from the Pharaoh’s Quest line. I’ve often thought that a theme of something like ‘heroes and monsters’ would allow themed series of CMFs or sets representing Egyptian, Greek, Norse and Celtic legends quite nicely. Anyways, yes please to Egyptian gods CMF! PS - mashing up some Legends of Chima figures with some existing Egyptian figures is a pretty good proxy too ;)
  8. That pun is atrocious. I expected better!
  9. The engine is shaped like a narwhal 😝
  10. Logic would suggest another female - so maybe just broaden your Forestmen definition … a reimagining of the s9 Forest Maiden? Or a sorceress with raven.
  11. dude, I low-key love it when your software gives good autocorrect howlers! I’m very much here for a martini suit 🍸 as well as some marine critters though. The Lego Ninjago movie gave us some awesome fishy masks, and I did hope that would lead to more … Frankly it’s bizarre that they haven’t managed to cash in on Nemo in a CMF yet though
  12. DM me if you want to do a figures for wolf swap!
  13. I picked up one wolfpack at a local shop (WHSmiths) who had about half a box left behind the tills. I asked the guy serving if I could scan them and he said fine, and was it the wolf man I was after. I think it is so well known that you can profit from it and the value has been inflated from the start, much like what happened with Viking and Tournament Knight back in S20. I honestly think the Wolfmaster figure takes us into new CMF demand territory. We have had chase figures before, and army builders, and some very desirable figures - but this is an already-desirable, army-building figure with an accessory that people are keen to get on its own. Lego didn’t need to go so hard on this one (though I’m not complaining!). Those of us who army-build Lego animals know that often the CMF-introduced ones have a limited run and availability … but honestly I can’t compare any of the earlier figures to this one, in the demand and lure of the wolf accessory. In the past we have had CMFs whose whole raison-d’etre was the animal they came with (foal, skunk, koala…) - even though some were well-realised figures in and of themselves. We have also had effectively ‘add on’ animals, which really could have not appeared (the dog sitter didn’t have to have TWO dogs, Johnny Thunder didn’t need a chameleon, the Aarakocra Ranger didn’t need a puppy, and the paddleboarder didn’t need a dolphin…). The Wolfmaster is a new breed.
  14. Well the last female pirate we got in CMF had a tricorn hat and hair piece, which has subsequently been recoloured elsewhere. I think it’s pretty obvious why Lego is avoiding the trope of pirates with wooden leg/ eyepatch / hook hand every time. As a casual pirate viewer, I don’t see any problem with the outfit. It’s nice to have some variety and I think both legs and torso will work well with other parts to create figures. What I think is missing from the chat about the Quartermaster figure is that it’s one of the ones which purposely has a BIPOC - coded hairpiece. That obviously is a challenge when all the figures are still using yellow faces, but that seems a pretty clear and deliberate intent, in line with Lego’s moves to add more representation and diversity across the theme. I mean, essentially she does have hair with a bandana, just that it’s used differently. The other thing with every-pirate-needing-missing-body-parts logic is what you say about mixing and matching figures. Like if everyone is missing a left leg and a right eye it just seems … overkill.
  15. Whilst I’ve generally found less places are stocking CMFs regularly, I’ve honestly not had that problem with scalping where I’ve checked. In fact when I went back* to a store about three weeks later after they’d first gotten boxes in and on display, I (to my surprise) found three wolfmasters with very little scanning of the five already-depleted boxes on display. I guess it will depend on how many serious scanning collectors are around though, and there’s a good chance that they concentrate on some stores. *I deliberately didn’t scan the whole lot and scalp all of them when I first went, on account of me not being a monster. Honestly it’s such a pain having to take a bag of different clothes, glasses, hats, and fake facial hair every time I want multiples from the store
  16. Agree. Reptiles that swim use the tail laterally, and I think this is a nod to that, rather than an oddly curved up tail.
  17. 12 variants of that already-ubiquitous baby raptor. Job done!
  18. Brick-built mosasaur sounds like it could be nighmareish … I get that size is an issue, but it seems like they already decided to have moulded dinos, so they should have followed through Okay- just saw the pics 🤮 @ mosasaur Others look good, if *interesting* colour scheme on the Spino
  19. nah, we have enough of that nonsense already ;)
  20. Baby mammoth, sabre-tooth cub, jackalope, baby Pegasus, baby unicorn, & licence-free phoenix could all be CMF critters, for example
  21. Yes, little did we know that we *needed* Pegasus babies so very badly, huh @Aurore?
  22. I dunno, feels like the mutant thing is just lazy story writing to me, especially with so many dinos already Also, presumably, both Scarlett Johansen & Jonathan Bailey will get new Lego incarnations to add to their existing minifigures/dolls!
