  1. I was bitten by a penguin once, I have nothing to say to them until they apologise.
  2. They did us dirty by introducing a mammoth, a sabretooth cat and no Sid or Scrat! Sadly I don’t speak penguin. Though their main language seems to be ā€˜rage’
  3. They can’t even remember. They’ve been battling since the Ice Age when some prehistoric squirrel caused mayhem chasing a nut.
  4. Largely in battle scenes where my army of squirrels can face off with my army of penguins
  5. Not unexpected, but would have been a nice place to see the current foal reused, maybe the pig recoloured, and potentially the introduction of a smaller chunkier ā€˜pony’ … ah well. It’s very tumbleweed-y and quiet on the animals front
  6. Guess this is the best place to bump this, just in case
  7. All penguins are meat eaters - just that the ā€˜meat’ is fish meat, mollusc meat or crustacean meat ;)
  8. I would love to be in the Lego design meetings where they decide on what animals get angry eyes and what don’t.
  9. 🚨🚨🚨 I dunno about keeping your dreams alive buddy, but I have to police the rules! Given that glyptodonts were about the size of a small car, you’ll need to change your Glypto-slot. baby Glypto or a modern day armadillo maybe? #harshbutfair
  10. If we are onto alternate hairy ginger beasties - I’d be after a highland cow calf instead ;)
  11. My turn. And -yes- I’m cursing my own rules! 1) FOX - I would assume a red fox but with a white recolour later for an Arctic fox 🦊 2) KANGAROO - I think this is fine size wise if we assume it’s a grey kangaroo, not the huge red ones🦘 3) PIGEON - so overdue 🐦 4) BEAVER - dam overdue 🦫 5) IGUANA - central and South American representation, works as a pet, and could stand a few recolours. Lizards are the only main reptile family we don’t yet havešŸ¦Ž 6) (small) DEER - not hugely fussy if we get a ā€˜baby’ for the existing deer or an adult smaller species like Roe 7) perched EAGLE - golden eagle, perched with wings held slightly open. Can be repurposed as a Roman StandardšŸ¦… 8) BOAR - useful in castle and historic themes as well as general wildlife / outdoors šŸ— 9) PUFFIN - in the same style as the existing toucan, can you imagine how CUTE it would be? 10) RING TAILED LEMUR - wrestled with all the ā€˜popular zoo type animals’ but this won out. Also heckin cute! 11) VULTURE - wide geographical use, and someone has gotta be clean up crew! 12) BABY MAMMOTH - just cos.🦣 (Close runners-up: big shaggy dog, tortoise, capybara, eel, duck, swan, kingfisher, raccoon, meerkat)
  12. Hello. I’ve collected a bunch of the CMF27 Wolfpack Beastmaster figures, but I’m only really interested in having multiples of the wolf, not the figure itself. So I’m wondering if there’s anyone with the opposite ā€˜problem’ who might be willing to swap their spare wolves for my spare Beastmasters? I’m just proposing a one-for-one trade, and can do up to ten figures, though it doesn’t have to be all ten!
  13. Can definitely see the existing ā€˜baby gorilla’ being recoloured and printed to be a baby ā€˜rangy-tan! Freshwater animals generally are absent from the Lego ark, with the otter being pretty much the main exception other than all the crocagators. It’s a shame the kingfisher building kit didn’t spawn a kingfisher figure too!
  14. Not points - I mean where my list agrees with yours! * though I do think your llama is cheating 😜
  15. Pretty sure the technical term is ā€˜capybabas’. You’re welcome. Dude, a Pygmy hippo was *right there* So far I’m 6/12 with @Roebuck, 3/12 with @Black Falcon & 4.5/12 with @lifeinplastic šŸ˜‚
  16. The series has been out a fair while, so no restraint was merited
  17. Even if I could get past the lipstick, blusher and eyelashes … the ā€˜breast dials’ were a step too far for me 🤣
  18. Yeah in retrospect there weren’t that many that were awful. That unicorn for boys was quite the flex - make it Blue! Give it weapons!
  19. Hey animal fanimals, I thought I would spice up the guessing game / wishlisting element of this topic, in light of recent conversations here, noting that CMFs have been giving us good animal prospects lately, and with limited other animal news on the horizon. So here’s a new wishlisting game. Imagine that Lego have decided, in their infinite wisdom, to create a CMF where every figure comes with a new animal. In fact they are not just going to give us rehashes, they are going to blow the budget mould for TWELVE new critters - and they want YOU to pick them! There’s only one catch: these are the last ever animal moulds that Lego is ever going to produce… so you must choose wisely, or forever rue your decision. They would enter the Lego mould world and may well appear in different colours and prints down the line … but they are the LAST NEW LEGO ANIMAL MOULDS EVER 😱 So you have a unique opportunity to tell us what those twelve critters must be. They can be wildlife, pets, fantasy/mythological, or prehistoric and extinct animals - in keeping with @Lion King’s wishes!. They must be single mould pieces - so no articulated animals, though they can have complex moulds with different colours like the toucan, or different plastics, like the flamingo. They have to ā€˜fit’ in a CMF box (so let’s assume that the current biggest parts that have appeared in CMFs are a guide - things like the mountain bike, dolphin, Medusa tail, foal, and centaur body) - would mean that current animals like the baby elephant, stingray and eagle would be a good estimate of the maximum size. Let’s not worry too much about the figures that come as counterparts to the animals, as @lifeinplastic reminds us, that’s not *that* relevant to animal collectors. That said, if you want to list a complete figure with your animals, go for it! RULES: 1) you need to choose TWELVE different animals (not just twelve x @Roebucks!) 2) each must be new single mould, not articulated 3) must be small enough to fit in CMF packaging (so no giraffes or Glyptodonts!) 3) can be an existing animal in a different pose, but must be new mould, not just a reprint or recolour. The assumption is that these are in the contemporary style of Lego animals so would have printed eyes at the very least.
  20. I wonder if we will ever see a return to the somewhat clumsy female-ification of CMFs? I’m thinking of the ā€˜lady’ robot in series 11 and cyclops in series 13. Somehow they managed to be both offensive and hilarious … but I think we have moved on. Yes! Though I much prefer it when the defined muscles are on fleshies. I bought *so many* swimsuit Batman figures …
  21. Man, I love Demolition Dummy. My recollection of series one - so VERY long ago - was that there were far too many magicians in circulation. Heady days though. I can remember a while back someone suggesting this as the norm for CMFs, and necessarily also excluding any gender-specific elements on the torso and legs to allow it to work. There were conniptions!
  22. As an aside, I really LOVED the DnD CMF figures that came with both ā€˜male’ and ā€˜female’ heads
  23. My take on that figure is that it’s a non-binary person. It isn’t specifically gender-coded, be it with ā€˜curves’, eyelashes, facial hair or whatever and is therefore ambiguous. It *could* be a man, or a woman, or someone who’s non-binary. I think that’s probably the only way that Lego could give us characters like this - and, yes, they can be interpreted by people according to their own bias - as neither presenting male or female. I’d like to see more of the CMFs like this. To the wider LGBT representation in CMFs, I don’t see how that’s possible since people don’t specifically look gay or bi or whatever. So I think we will possibly see more nods to things like pride flag colours, unicorns, and bear paws, and be left to interpret them as we want. As I’m fond of saying - all my minifigures are Queer anyways šŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļø
  24. I think it’s *fine* when there’re solid series, and a good mix of figures; but I think it’s less-than-ideal for many specific ā€˜themes’ when figures are few, and far between. It feels like ā€˜normal’ mixed CMF series are very highly prized nowadays, but also that any series of 12 figures can easily be a miss for people looking for specific things.
