There are 14 new pages worth since the rumour at the end of September, and we're still no closer to knowing any more than those rumours.

Yes, there were loads. But they chose just five so have had significant input into the winner. -
LEGO IDEAS teams up with Dungeons And Dragons!
MAB replied to HeyComeMerryDol's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
What a really disappointing choice for the ones you can vote on. I imagine the big one will win as it will appeal to LEGO Castle fans who are used to paying large sums for such builds, whereas the other ones are more D&D. Assuming most votes will come from LEGO fans. I thought that there were some really well done and much smaller designs but they have all been ignored. I cannot really see D&D fans buying a large static display model as it cannot really interact with the game. Having some smaller builds that could be used in the game and also inspire the players to build their own custom versions when doing their own storylines could have been a nice idea. -
What minifigs are we missing - post your detailed suggestions here

They did them for a while, then got caught up in costume figures! I guess warrior style figures still exist in the form of knights but obviously a different period and not any set real-world age. There was a few ancient Egypt too. I hope they never return to the CMF. Not as I don't want them, but if they did Roman or Greek soldiers again then they would be impossible to buy for a reasonable price given how LEGO has gone recently. If they want to revist Roman or Greek or Egyptian times, I'd hope they just make sets instead. -
An Assault on Hoth type set would be fine. Part of the reason for AoH being under-rated was that much of it had been done not long before and in some cases better in small sets. Whereas all we have for Rivendell is the Council set from a decade ago.

I guess we have different views of what the major characters are. I'd take the Witch King (with the famous crown not a hood), Saruman, Theoden and Galadriel over Arwen in terms of importance. Obviously all except the Witch King have been done before anyway.

It looks great. Big enough to have enough details to be obvious what it is but not too big that it can still be displayed quite easily in most homes. If you have enough bricks it is too easy to start building and keep going, making a huge MOC that might look great at a convention but is way too big for home display. This hits a sweet spot.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 24. Rumors and discussion
MAB replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
For me, it is that they put it into the CMF. I have no problem them doing new versions of Classic Spacemen. But they have done it better in the past, such as putting the torso in but still including other parts to make it CMF-like. If they want to do whole figures, why not just do a whole rainbow set like Everyone is Awesome. -
And presumably that is why they have cars in Friends alongside the shops and houses and they have things like sandwich shop, farmer set, grocery store, beach lifeguard, horse transporter, picnic in the park, school, etc in City. Even though there are some of the mainstays of the emergency services in City, there are plenty of more situation based than danger playsets. These sets are both £25 / $40. Similar theme. Similar designs. Similar play value. Part counts are skewed in favour of Friends, being 211 vs 288, although weights are the opposite 522g vs 499g. I think a lot of the pricing issues are down to inconsistent pricing throughout themes rather than one theme against another. For example, within City: 60345 is £25 but $45. The US price for that one is dreadful. £1.00=$1.80 here. 60327 and 60343 are £25 but $30. £1.00=$1.20 here. So two £25 sets yet one is 50% more expensive than the other in the US. Then there is 60324, £40 but $40. £1.00=$1.00 here. If you compare sets where they are at one of these extremes, they are going to look very good or very bad, depending on viewpoint. Some City sets look really badly priced vs Friends, if you pick the wrong ones for that currency, but might actually look better in another currency. But then it is easy to find counter examples the other way. This $50 set with 373 parts looks to be expensive in terms of PPP. It is even worse in the UK, where it costs £55! And in the UK, for the same £55 you can buy this one, but that would set an American back $80. The £55 Friends set looks really overpriced compared to the £55 City set. But then in the US, I'd be comparing a $50 to a $80 set. Even though they are the same sets being compared in both countries.

I imagine that is why you tend to favour Friends sets over City sets now. Whereas other boys that like pushing around cars and more action based play will favour City.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 24. Rumors and discussion
MAB replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
It might be the angle the figure is at and the low res image I saw, it looked like the fat upper part of the carrot is 3D, whereas the bottom end looks very flat and the shadow is at waist height. At least if it is a single 3D outfit the green legs and boots might be useful. It is still a completely boring yet-another-vegetable costume though! I imagine it is not Marie Antoinette but just inspired by her. Like Egyptian Queen and so on (although she did once get referred to as Cleopatra on the LEGO site). Did she have a beauty spot on the face? It would pass well for any Georgian era (in English terms) noble woman. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 24. Rumors and discussion
MAB replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
This is pretty much the same for me. I'll probably get 1x BF falconer and 1x "Marie Antoinette". The BF is a real disappointment. Partly because it has yet another one of those stupid printed mini capes that ruins the torso meaning it needs to be covered by a proper cape to fit in with other caped figures and partly because it is too similar to figures in other sets. The joy of the CMF used to be that figures were different to regular sets. The orc is also a disappointment for me. From the neck down it looks like a Chima figure or a Nexo Knights villain. The jaw piece is interesting, but I cannot see myself getting an army of these and one on his own makes little sense. I'm totally bored with costume characters and that carrot has to be the worst of them yet. Half a molded carrot costume, and the rest of it printed on the minifigure parts. So the legs are not going to be very useful with out the carrot costume. They might as well glue those together. "Marie Antoinette" will be good for a queen, but just need one. The others are not too bad, the paper boy is decent enough and the space-y ones are not bad. -

A Black Falcon cmf seems a bit of overkill. It's a shame they couldn't do a new character. The 'Marie Antoinette' looks good though. -
planning on buying an SBrick but need help.

It is true, but only in one specific case - for a 1 Ohm resistor (or part of a circuit with 1 Ohm resistance). It's Ohm's law. Voltage = current x resistance. -
The other way of looking at it is that they cater for different markets with the two different ranges. Personally, I'm not a fan of City. But then I am not a 7 year old boy. The prices don't see too bad to me, aside from the sets that contain the new road plates and we know they are expensive. Now Modulars are essentially City for AFOLS, I don't care that City retains its child focused play and if it gets even more action based play.

I don't think there is one. If you want to know the ones you are missing then you can try searching on bricklink.

There was this old thread from 2013 when guitars started appearing... There have been some great parts in CMF since. I thought Friends might have been able to introduce more. -
Some thoughts after YEARS without a castle theme
MAB replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
What are the four? 10305 and 40567 are in the Icons theme (or Anniversary theme) with this new badge of "Castle System" which seems to be the successor of Castle. 31120, I would not call Castle. It is a Creator set that is a castle with a couple of figures that could appear with Castle sets. Some/many parts are useful for Castle builds although the style is (to me) quite different. But I can understand if included. What is the fourth? 6426244, I wouldn't call Castle. The BL set? The Creator Viking set? If we did get a new Castle theme (or a continuation of this new Castle System) I'd hope it was aimed at kids, with multiple sub $100 sets, an army building pack, and the odd $100-200 type set. All of interest for AFOLs, but a range of smaller sets so adults and kids can mix and match content rather than go down the route of $400 AFOL only sets. -
Some thoughts after YEARS without a castle theme
MAB replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
It depends how you want to define it. Strictly, it was three years, covering 1981, 82 and 83. It started in 1978, continued in 79 but had a break with no new sets in 80 even though existing sets would have been on the shelf in that year. Of course things change if you allow other later Castle themes into Classic Castle too, such as Lion Knights, Black Falcons, etc. -

MAB replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Aside from the minifigs, Star Wars has actually been a pretty decent theme for Castle builders over the years. There is typically a lot of greys, tans, white, black, and sometimes browns and greens. Mainly lots of neutral and natural colours. Plus if you keep the figures for a couple of years and then sell them for the price you paid for the set, the parts can often be free. -
That's my feeling too, although if the good side is facing outwards it probably doesn't matter too much.
-
Either way one will get started in the correct location in Action and Adventure at some stage, meaning anything here will be lost.

The Funky bag is not that good anyway. A couple of pigs, but not much else worth noting. -
OK, I don't follow the theme too much. I thought there were just leaks so far.
