Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
MAB replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
It depends on the cape you want. When I phoned, I just told them the set number and they looked up the part number for me. It depends which capes are in the box you buy. I think I paid about £1.80 GBP per box from 76056, which included the normal green cape, the neck cape, a Batman cape and a Robin cape. -
They could, but then it wouldn't be James Bond's DB5 without the gadgets. And without that badge on the box, they would lose the James Bond fans.

There is of course another competitor here, and that is the NASA angle. Saturn V, Mars Rover, Women of NASA, various Shuttles. They are competing with Space sets too, just as SW is. There is always a complication that any future sets should not be too close to current / recent technology as they would look like the real ones.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
MAB replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
Yes. The downside is if it comes in a box with others, then they will only sell you the whole box. -
They'd get sued by the one that was.

I don't think TLG do know that. They know it is popular amongst adults of a certain age, the ones that do displays at conventions and post on flickr. But that Classic Space IDEAS don't get voted to 10,000 indicates that this is a fairly small hard core of fans and not a wider fanbase. If people want classic space, space police, Blacktron, M-Tron, etc, that's great, the sets and parts exist, so buy them on BL. I'd prefer a new space theme over a resurrection of an old one. I wouldn't mind a few Easter Eggs in there with logos and so on (like the green futuron figure they did in the City set) but I'd prefer a modern day view of the future / space, rather than a 40 year old view of the future.

The UP house is probably one of the most over-done ideas on LEGO Ideas. Check out what is already on there or been on there. It appears to have been done at just about every scale possible.

The Trabant was a joke, based on the colour. I nearly called it a Star Wars extension pack instead ... If it was an unlicensed and unlabelled creator set would it sell? I don't think it would. So it makes sense to slap a 007 label on it and sell to those fans. I imagine it was the license that drove the design of the model, rather than the model needing to find a license but it does seem a bit of a waste of a tie-in if there are no further James Bond sets.

It is not his second, as he has quite a few others, including other lego ones. Plus GNAJBricks too. I'm not really sure what the point of splitting all the lego stuff is (maybe to quote the sum of the subscribers?), but I'm sure he will get more subscribers for the new channel.

All that grey. You just need to straighten up the headlights and remove the sloped back and you have a Trabant!

Pass for me. I'm not really sure what it is meant to be. They seem to have done a display style model but with some play features. They could have done a decent display model, concentrating on the aesthetics and not the play features, or they could have done a smaller play version in minifigure scale, but they ended up taking the worst of both. There is no James Bond to drive it and it doesn't look great for display. And that cheat using the stickers to emphasise the curves on the rear side windows is bad. It is an admission of failure to get the shape anywhere near like what it should be. It didn't work, so cover it up with a sticker.

Best white sticker paper to use/match Lego stickers?
MAB replied to BraselC5048's topic in General LEGO Discussion
You can get some reasonable quality vinyl sticker "paper" for inkjet printers, such as ... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Adhesive-Microporous-Waterproof-Sticker-PPD-36-20/dp/B000W4H63S This is not as good quality as getting stickers printed on proper vinyl sheets and will need sealing if you like to get your figures wet, but OK if you want to play around designing your own stickers quite cheaply. You'll also need to hand cut them.- 3 replies

Slope piece is still used for minifigure dresses...?
MAB replied to MattedBricks's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The long dresses are why it is traditional for ladies to ride side-saddle. Although this could be brick built.- 42 replies

If you google "lego technic dimensions" you get a lot of pictures of parts with dimensions on.

Although they will log that you have requested multiple minifigures from one set. Do this once and it is fine. Do it multiple times and they won't supply them and ban you from requesting missing parts. Better to take it back to the retailer. Next time inspect the box before buying, look for taped seals or cut or rough edges.

If you made a custom Collector and LEGO hadn't done an official comic con one, is it any different to if you made a Collector and LEGO did a comic con one? In one case Lego doesn't do one, in the other market forces make it so the one they do is very expensive and might as well not exist. If LEGO decided that The Collector does not fit into one of their sets, then there will not be a general release. If it bothers people that someone else might get an exclusive limited edition of a character that LEGO is not going to put on general release, then the only alternative is to not have exclusives. That then impacts on LEGO at the comic con as they have no exclusives that will get people talking and creating a buzz online.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
MAB replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
There was one but that one died and this one thrived. -
Take a look at this thread. It has been going six years now. This is exactly what many people do. They create their own versions of characters using existing, and for the most part common, parts. I doubt there is a character that people have not come up with a reasonable version, especially one that LEGO has done as an exclusive. You want a "The Collector"? Make one, there are loads of ways of doing it. Some of them pre-date the official LEGO version. You can then play with The Collector. Does it change how you play with it if it turns out that someone else has a different (and "official") version with different printing on the parts that is an exclusive giveaway that they keep in the protective packaging?
-
This is purely speculation. You do not know this. For all you know, there could have been the idea to have the Lester polybag all along, but they were not able to produce enough to start selling at the opening, or maybe they wanted to keep it exclusive for a while for the people that attended the opening. That $3000 one is not worth $6. It is still worth more than $6 (but not $3000). The packaging differentiates it from the polybag one, and some people are willing to pay a premium for the packaging still. It happened with some comic con figures too - Bilbo, Azog, Bard - they all came out in regular sets but the ones in the special packaging hold value over those that do not have the packaging. And LEGO didn't create a $3000 figure. They created a giveaway. The market created the $3000 figure.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
MAB replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Yes, I would prefer a series with 16 different teams, rather than 16 from the same team. But how could they do the Round of 16? They need to know months in advance who progresses if they are to be out at the time of the competition. And guessing wouldn't work (eg. Germany). Plus licensing is an issue, as they'd need to negotiate with all the different football associations. Why? There have been Friends football / soccer sets. They didn't need movable legs / feet. I doubt many people actually play out action games with the DFB series, and just display them standing still instead. -
REVIEW: 71022 LEGO Minifigures - Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts Series 1
MAB replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Licensed
They also appeal to kids, not just collectors, and many kids will want the core HP characters. -
It seems lots of people have to have them now. They will be back in stock. Just wait. LEGO aren't stupid, they are not going to stop selling them so fast.

I don't mind comic con ones at all. They are there as an incentive for people to go to the comic con (not cheap) and engage with LEGO there. If it was a figure that was just going to be put in a set six months later (Bilbo, Azog, Bard, etc) then there is little incentive to get it aside from the packaging. Maybe having them as a variant of an existing figure is better, but then ones like the Deadpool ones are not going to appear in sets anyway due to the nature of the recent movies but will appeal to the type of adults that attend comic cons. Does it anger me that someone has something that I don't? Not really. There are plenty more minifigures to collect. Similarly, chase figures don't bother me. I think it would be better if the packaging were more tamper-proof / harder to feel the figures but that is another matter. How many people would actually want the Classic Policeman if he was 6 to a box?
