LEGO Star Wars 2019 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

I think they've cancelled orders for them now, so it was obviously a mistake releasing them on S@H. -
LEGO Star Wars 2019 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
MAB replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The VIP minifigure sets were for sale on S@H earlier today, 1p (UK) / 1c (Eur) / $4.99 (US) each with a limit of 99. Item number 6278239, links to set number 5005747 but the page has now been removed. However, if you type in either number you get a preview of it. -
That TV must be a fairly modern screen inside a retro-style box. If it was a CRT based screen, it would be much deeper. I remember our wooden boxed TV from the 1970s, it was probably 75% as deep as it was wide. Plus the curved front!

Flip those two around for me! The dark orange, yes! Lots more bricks in a colour that actually looks like bricks! Although I'd prefer medium flesh. And to me the paw print on the handle makes it look like a child's set. But at least that is easy to leave off.

Yeah, I noticed that on the other thread after posting, although there is at least one new user that registered after the start date so there might be some un-verified entries. Although it is amazing that some of the flagged "new" IDs are actually quite old but have never posted anything. I think I spotted one entry from an ID that is five years old without a single comment! I was wondering about numbers of entries and whether they are up or down, based mainly on this thread:

I wonder if it can be used as a jumper style part too. No doubt it will be cataloged as a turntable element at bricklink but it looks like it could have more uses.

I don't think that is true. It would take 10000s of customers to really change the selling prices as you suggest, not just a few customers ruining prices for the majority. If the majority didn't buy, it doesn't matter what a few people buy or pay for it. LEGO would be doomed.

To obscure the vet's signage from the front of the box is ridiculous. Who approved that? I agree it is new, but what makes it awesome? It leaves ugly great grooves running up the building. It is a shame they didn't use only dark orange parts in those grooves, as that way they wouldn't have jarred quite so much. The "wrong" colours are not even consistent in the grooves as they did the bottom left facade in a slightly different way. I guess different things for different people, but I didn't see a single minifigure I'd want from this one. OK, I know people don't buy modulars for the minfiigures, but the last two gave us some new prints - the rock star and the dentist. The mechanics overalls have already appeared in 38 different minifigures, the girl's cat torso in 5, the knitted sweater is from the Old Fishing Store, the vet's from the current hospital, and the vespa lady's jacket was from a man in the recent people pack.

So right ... In the past five years, my stats are: 2013 day 11 2014 day 17 2015 no prize 2016 day 3 2017 day 5 The last two years I didn't check the winners list anywhere near as much as I did 2015, maybe once a week just to see who had won. An early win is good for calming the nerves but you lose the thrill of checking every day.

There are some brilliant entries in that competition. But those ones you highlight are really deserving of something!

I notice the girl standing next to the dead fish is really into cats. So it is obvious who wants a dead fish. And then she gets to take the bunny home. Look out Thumper, you're cat food.

I find it quite disappointing. The large gaps creating the angled front aren't good but the mismatched coloured parts in these grooves look awful. They aren't even consistent.

Well that is officially a leak. -
You can set up wants lists at bricklink to make the process easier.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Of course, there is - maybe another 50 posts saying how long it will be before the reveal. -
Do we know the number of verified entries, and whether it is up or down compared to the last few years?
-
Unlikely, unless they have a new (or the current, if it is still in place) deal with Warner Bros to use their name on the box, and their depiction of the characters.
-
You know that is just practice for the real event? :-) I used to live in the Netherlands, and loved Sinterklaas time, with the chocolate letters and Black Piet throwing around kruidnoten. There is a great variety of entries this year. And Christmas spirit already with SantaMike giving more time!

I bought series 1 for my kid, mainly as I saw it on DVD for 50p per half series. It is aimed at kids, but it actually isn't that bad. I cannot imagine AFOLs wanting to watch it, but for the sort of thing you watch with your kids, it is fine. There is a story line running through the series, but each one is pretty much self contained and usually ends with a moral or similar so ideal for kids to watch. I would imagine if LEGO did Classic Space now, and it had a TV series, it would be produced in a very similar way. I wonder if AFOLs would also hate that series too (with or without watching it)?
-
I'm also of the view that kids will like them ... as they are characters in a movie, not because they are Classic Space. Rub those Classic Space logos off and put a modern one in their place, and kids will love them just as much. Build the spaceships with a different colour pallete and they will still love them even though they don't conform to the classic space scheme.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
MAB replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
Wow, those flames are quite expensive. -
Those garage door pieces work very well as the greenhouse style windows. Very clever.
-
It sounds too technical for small kids, and big kids already do this with real LEGO.

I wouldn't want a Men of NASA set as the title is too loaded. But I wouldn't mind a Pioneers of NASA set. And it would be fine by me if all the people in it were men, as the notable women have already been done. Or just a decent minifigure set to go with Saturn V, rather than the microscale / trophy figures. The original moon landing crew would make sense there. Or they could do a "People that have walked on the moon" set, or famous astronauts set, and include women where appropriate. As for Ideas, anything related to the Apollo program is now banned. Even if it wasn't, a set similar to Women of NASA with vignettes wouldn't pass as it is too similar to the past project.
-
I think a minifigure based set of three figures - containing Armstrong, Aldrin and Collins - would sell extremely well seeing how well Saturn V has sold. But it wouldn't be allowed on Ideas. Mind you I reckon a set of three popes taken from different eras would also sell quite well.
