Custom LOTR Knight of Gondor Minifigures by KORUIT
MAB replied to CMI's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Yes, thanks for bringing these up. I know customisers have done similar ones before but the amount they were charging for the helmets and shields made it very expensive to make an army. I've gone for a small army of these, and will use just the Gondor parts to add to LEGO minifigures. Now can they make a proper Witch King helmet too? Then I'll be content after LEGO's missed opportunities. -
I've never used one, is there some non-standard connector on it? Can you not just use a LIPO or similar rather than damaging / gluing an existing part (which also has some value)? Normally on things like this, if you can get to the contacts where the battery connects you can use a third party solution if the right voltage.

That part was around long before Nexo Knights. It was first in some large figures but then also used in a number of Chima sets. Whirling vines came with two dark green ones, especially good for plants, and anyone that collected a large gorilla army that way will have loads!

And some will say "Wow, that's Big Show" before they even think of LEGO.

I imagine "only" meaning not good enough to be considered (after all 1000 is just 10% of what is needed), while implying it was still a good effort to get to 1000.

If you use Bricklink to confirm set inventories...
MAB replied to 62Bricks's topic in General LEGO Discussion
There is a difference between the contents of a new set and a used set. For example, a Jungle Boy set contains two knives which are a single part on a sprue. For the set to be new, this single part should not be broken apart into two parts (two knives). Whereas for a used set, you only need one knife. The knife should really be listed as an alternate part to the two knives on a sprue, since only one is needed to complete the used set. However, the way BL works doesn't allow that, as if it is an alternate part for a used set, it is also an alternative for the new set. Unless BL keeps separate entries for both new and used sets, there is no real way around this. If the knives above are listed as one knife in the set and one extra, then it is not strictly correct as they came as a single part in the new set. The current way works for new sets better than for used. Whereas listing them as one part plus an extra works better for used sets. I don't think extras are affected, if they are single extra parts - aren't these dealt with the way they always have been. I think part of the reason for this is for when BL starts to import inventories from LEGO. As sprued parts have one number, then that is what LEGO supplies in the online inventory and also in the paper copy and that is what will be in the BL catalogue. The same as LEGO, as they import inventories direct already. So sprued parts will be the sprued parts, not individual ones. -
The fourth shot is superb.

Christmas tree ornament
MAB replied to The Chosen One's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This has to be the most apt usage of the "reveal hidden contents" tab ever! -
LEGO are bricking back "nude" yellow hips, so I guess there is a chance they would do fleshie (light flesh) ones, although working out why an official minifigure would need them is another matter.
-
Get some SNOT bricks (bricks with side studs) and use these in the tower to build a section where you can place your clock face.
-
Luckily, not this drama ...
-
I'll believe it when I see it! Where is the image above from? There are off brand fleshie ones available that are a very good match to LEGO's light flesh, so if anyone buys them, check for the LOGO.

It is because you are a new member that hadn't posted anything prior to the raffle. You need to make (I think) 10 posts before you can PM other members.

As already noted, some LEGO parts come from China and not all of them can be inspected, just like other clone brands being sold in the US and UK/EU. So if other brands that pass safety tests should be banned, then so should LEGO.

I hope lego lose this case. I don't have a problem with them going after knock-offs of their patents, but these are different. I don't see why these are any different to the characters sold by Block Tech like these, for example: They are crap, but cheap. I imagine Zuru might need to change “Lego Blocks Compatible” to "Compatible with other brands" but other than that, I don't see where the confusion is. It's fair enough that LEGO wants to protect it's patents, but it should not be allowed to stop other companies making figurines that are compatible. So I hope LEGO lose.

Nobody knows yet. It is usually 3-5 themed minifigures or similar but it depends what LEGO supplies. I'm sure copmike will post once he knows, hopefully with a few partial reveals first as a teaser.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
MAB replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
I was just in time, I got an order in yesterday at 11.33 GMT. -
Have you tried dipping the legs into paint to coat the feet? That way, you can coat the inner sides of the feet, so you don't see the base colour showing through.

What is the most realistic Lego sailing ship?
MAB replied to nzmike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
This is probably one of the most realistic - takes 600 men. Multiple decks and gunports and decent rigging and sail formations.- 15 replies

There is also the Winter Village Market that contains a number of small booths, including some food stalls. We get little bits of food in many sets, but I don't think City sets tend to be dominated by food shops as boys tend not to play cafes. As you say, Friends sets have lots of food shops and cafes, presumably girls tend to like playing cafes more than boys. And for adults and older teens, there have been sets such as the Parisian Restaurant, the Downtown Diner, etc, so adults are covered.
-
I'm the opposite. To me, the food stands just look like a City set should. While they are better than many normal City sets, that is probably due to the part count given to each of the builds.
-
Although that still might be a decent parts set.

What is the most realistic Lego sailing ship?
MAB replied to nzmike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It depends what you mean by realistic. The Imperial Flagship doesn't float, so it is less realistic than any City ship with a one-piece, watertight hull.- 15 replies

I'm not sure if there is a file. One thing to consider - do you care about interior furniture (stairs etc) and interior walls? As you can save quite a bit by building just the facades and rear walls of, say, a block of four town houses in a row. You don't really need the interior walls for stability and you can get away with leaving them out so long as you don't mind seeing through from one house to the next if you look through the windows. If you do, you can still make do with one interior wall only for each house plus one extra for the end of terrace.
