  1. Bricklink have been tinkering with their catalog. In their new XP catalog, they have redefined what it means to be Classic Space. On the plus side there are now many more Classic Space minifigures. On the downside, well GS and AC are now officially (well, according to Bricklink) Classic Space. https://www.bricklink.com/r3/search.page?cat2=M%3A5286.5521&q=classic space So the future is bright for Classic Space. Sort of. Not really.
  2. It also has ears and a nose, unlike most minifigures. Surely a scaled up minifigure should not have those.
  3. Most of the recent topics in the main historic section are MOCs. If MOCs are hidden away in another sub-forum, then the historic forum will appear almost dead (or at least, very historic!) Although Pirates has had some recent activity in the main forum, the last thread on the second page hasn't been touched since November 2019. The last thread on the second page of Historic goes back to just April 1.
  4. I prefer to see Eurobrick's users' MOCs in the main Historic forum, certainly more than just links to Ideas. Eurobricks shouldn't be an Ideas farm.
  5. They really need to make the Mixels ball-joints in other colours than grey.
  6. Same here there are loads of good microscale MOCs. They are not underrated. If there are so many great models to choose from, then it suggests that microscale is not underrated. I think the reason they are not official sets is because they are, for the most part, display items. The play value is near zero. The architecture range is the (official) big brother of these MOCs, aimed at older kids / adults. Whereas ~ $5 polybags are aimed at kids, where play value is important.
  7. Is that a limit in the length of the chains that can be used ...? :-)
  8. Presumably the strings going under the studs on the top section are being held by more than just that one round stud.
  9. I love the little detail of the tetrachs. That's one of my favourite little pieces of Venice.
  10. Yeah it is a totally different bird. Australia has its own black / white / red robin too.
  11. Lovely. You could have used the brown dino mid-tail section (in one of the branches) as a worm.
  12. You can use names like Travis and Rory for those in the know. Or use other names that are popular for LEGO characters (Benny and so on).
  13. I guess the point is that they don't want people doing shopping for leisure, trying on loads of outfits and so on. So maybe, there should be a rule that one style of basic underwear, T-shirt, warmer sweater and sweatpants should be made for both men and women. And make it in grey, or maybe a choice of light grey and dark grey. Then LEGO could follow the same, you can buy basic bricks only, and only in LBG and DBG. That would be heaven for castle builders ! :-)
  14. The helmet is so oversized, it looks more like Merry in armour.
  15. I find the dates, more than anything, highly unlikely. We had a normal wave of LOTR sets in 2013. Those Castle sets, of which the dragon tower was the "defining" set, were also 2013. So any decision to cancel a Osgiliath set would have been made much earlier than 2013 to allow time for the design and production of the whole of the Castle 2013 wave. Yet we still got LOTR that year too.
  16. Nice MOC, a very colourful tavern with some interesting characters there. I like the old-style wolfpack with his wolf, he mixes in well with Dorothy, the S3 elves and the LOTR body parts. It always amazes me how such big chicken legs come from such small chickens. :-)
  17. How would that have worked? The Dragon Mountain was the set that contained the red dragon, which gave the heraldry for the rest of the Castle 2013 sets. And the dragon doesn't look like a fellbeast, so they would have had to make those parts especially for that set to come out in 2013. I cannot really see how they would have remade parts that were not in production and then based an entire sub-theme on it, just on one set that was planned but cancelled. It is not like the build in the Dragon Mountain is anything special that was worth saving if it had been designed for LOTR. I imagine most designers could design that tower in five minutes.
  18. I have had shipping boxes that originally contained 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8 and 12 sets. Then there are CMF boxes that contain 3x boxes, or 180 sets if you count each one. It obviously depends on the size of the set box although shipping boxes vary in size massively too.
  19. I think I prefer the original LOTR Rohirrim helmet to the new viking one, as the viking one looks so large, especially if the minifigure does not have a beard on. And the blue printed cape ruins the torso for me. And then the legs have a bit of a strap printed on them, which means it can only be used with the correct torso. I really hope to see more dual molded legs with fairly neutral upper colours and darker colours for boots. And dual molding the short legs with flesh coloured feet would have been perfect for the hobbits.
  20. ICQ has been relaunched as ICQ New just a few days ago. Eurobricks is really on the pulse!
  21. Secondary market prices suggest that the availability of Uruk-Hai (compared to Rohan Soldiers) was not a problem. Uruks appeared in many sets, as well as a cheap polybag. The concept of having Uruks and Rohan soldiers and a wall was only stupid if you wanted multiples of part of the set only. For those that wanted a small army of both and to have a bit of scenery for play, then the set was fine. There are plenty of other castle and viking type torsos that can be mixed in with Rohan Soldiers to build an army. I think I must have at least 20 Eomers, mainly for the helmets, heads, capes and legs. Their torsos are also useful for other Castle armies. At the time, BL sellers were selling them for about the price of a generic CMF. Gondor soldiers would have been a good idea, but then any Gondor sets would have been a good idea. Personally, I went non-purist to get some of their armour as LEGO failed here.
  22. The brickforge ones are not bad, a bit thick but then all minifigure accessories are. Plus you can string them unlike lego ones.
  23. I imagine it is the same bow, which is nice as I still have some eves to equip with bows and the long one looks much nicer than the short one.
