Although it looks fun, how long is it fun for. To me, it looks like it will get boring quite quickly, and kids will just go back to playing proper video games after a few plays of this.

I imagine most are somewhere in between. I mostly MOC but also build official sets. Even those who mainly build official sets will occasionally put together a small build to enhance what LEGO provides. Plus there is a third type of AFOL, collectors that don't even open the boxes.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
MAB replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
Who is to say how many of something someone else needs? If someone asks for 1400 1x4 bricks, is that reasonable? If so, why not other parts too? It is also possible to order multiple 1000s of the same part at once, if you use the bulk order form. As for B+P they are meant to be for non-commercial uses, so should not be sold. -
Little karts similar to Mighty Micros but with pull-back motors would be great.

They already made a statement saying that they would not be doing that. BL and LEGO are still separate companies. I don't think it would be legal for them to share data between the two companies in such a way. I guess the problem here is some people may have a genuine use of such quantities. If they are doing a large pumpkin patch MOC for Halloween, then 200 pumpkins makes sense. I don't think it would be a good idea for LEGO to start deciding (different) limits for individual parts. -
At first look, that middle property reminded me of this one: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cambridgeshire-51578026 But at least yours has stairs to gain access to the property.

New LotR action figures make me hopeful for Lego
MAB replied to lego the hutt's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
That sounds similar to the Uruk-Hai Army / wall set, but for Gondor rather than for Rohan. Although popular now, that one in particular seemed to be a bad seller when it was on the shelves. -
Yes, it separates the waves a bit. The other fun thing to do is colour them in by putting tiles underneath, with different colours for the sky and the sea.

Hidden under a pile of leaves?

I guess the problem here is how do you differentiate a 1920s dress from a 1940s dress from a 1980s dress from a 2020s dress? What era is this LEGO dress from? When you have fixed sizes, recreating different styles is going to be difficult. I wouldn't mind lots of different colours, even if the style is not era specific.

They look good, I have done it for lettering, but not as waves. Those curves work well for letters of different sizes. The waves might look more continuous if you put a 1x1 1/4 round tile next to the 1x2 tile (alternatively - same thing - add the 1x2 tile in the upper pic).

I don't get why it is 18+ and not 16+ like other expert / complex builds. Any instructions that an adult can follow, then a 16+ FOL can also follow. It is not like the material is adult in nature.

Same on the Nintendo twitter page.

And alphabet / letter tiles too, so names can be added.

Although often associated with Star Wars, they have done loads of such battle packs in the past, and these are essentially smaller (4/5 minifigures) versions. They tend to be tied into the current themes of course. Dwarves, knights, pirates, skeletons, trolls, etc. Plus they did them for in-house one-off themes such as Alien Conquest and Pharoah's Quest, and also for Ninjago, Chima, etc. One thing about these types of packs is that they are essentially lots of minifigure parts from existing current themes, with nothing or little new in them.

The yoke carrier is brilliant and I've never seen that technique before. I still cannot work it out, what holds the yoke? I cannot see a neck bracket or anything. Is it just gravity holding it on as he seems to be leaning forward.

New LotR action figures make me hopeful for Lego
MAB replied to lego the hutt's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I don't think that is possible now. It is now 7 years since the last LOTR sets (or 6 for The Hobbit). If they did LOTR again, they cannot just fill in the gaps, they would need to start again if the sets were going to sell. As for the detail contained in the sets, the major problem for LOTR and The Hobbit is the size of the locations. Sure it is possible to come up with a great build for them if you use 4-5x as many parts, but they would be UCS MF prices. I don't think that there is the appetite for sets of that sort of price. -
Boba Fett looks fine to me, the stormtrooper not so great due to those weird angles. I'm fine with the price point, if there is going to be a number of them. For a one off, sure it might make sense to go large and expensive. But if this is going to be a collection then I think the price point is fine otherwise the entire collection will be too expensive.

No, I am not a thief. You have been told this before. You are making allegations of fraud without any knowledge. As for me "speaking my own words" and your reasons being "clear, direct and convincing", what a load of rubbish. You claim an easy refund/return policy ALWAYS does more harm than good. This is false. There are cases when people return items without fraudulently removing items from them. This does the customer good and the store and other customers no harm. It also gets the store more sales overall as customers know they have a decent customer service. Stores make huge numbers of sales every day, especially compared to the number of purchases by an individual. They know what works best for them hence why many stores, at least in Europe and Northern America, offer a refund policy.
-
Why would someone be negative if they returned a product with missing parts to a store for an exchange or refund? They had a problem with an item, the store sorted it. If it always did more harm than good, then there would be an economic reason to stop allowing returns. Consumer law here does not insist on allowing customer returns (unless defective) but nearly all stores will allow returns. It must be beneficial for the stores otherwise they would not do it.

The late 70s / early 80s was the best time for music. All these new singers and pop groups should go back to doing what those bands did and make music great again !

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
MAB replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
Yes you are right, there were two changes. I missed the point that the last one was about the VIP scheme changes. I cannot remember the exact date that they started giving VIP points on B+P. When they changed the VIP system they removed the old VIP points history from our accounts and the points are nto recorded in old order emails or the online records. -

Bizarrely you also use to earn them before the change too - if you bought during double VIP promotions. I don't think double points was actually doubling the points, but adding on £5 / $5 worth of points for every £100 / $100 spent. For normal orders, this of course doubles the points, whereas for B+P orders, it gave points when double should have still been zero. -
Why is LEGO so hesitant about bringing back classic themes?
MAB replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I think you have misinterpreted my use of "just". Of course it is great that kids are playing with the modern Classic range sets and hopefully designing their own builds / free building. However, this thread is about classic themes, such as Classic Space, Classic Castle and Pirates. I don't think the good sales of the bucket type Classic sets will mean that LEGO decide to bring back what AFOLs call Classic themes - Space, Castle and Pirates. Hence the use of the word just. Modern Classic buckets have no overlap with 1970-90s Classic themes. As to colours, I agree. Many kids, especially younger ones, don't care about the colours too much when free building. I think it is more about trying to keep LEGO exciting than doing it for serious modellers. If they wanted to please serious builders, then they would make sure that all the heavily used parts are available in all colours.
