  1. It depends on whether people dye their hair. I know of black women with (fake) blond hair, so the female one could be used on a reddish brown head if such a person wanted to represent their own characteristics in LEGO form accurately. But the point is in City and in-house themes, there are no racial differences. A yellow skin minifigure can have a hair style like any race in the real world. Just because a figure wears hair of one particular style does not define their LEGO City race, as there is no (or just one = yellow) race.
  2. These will just be the same Chinese made ones that the sellers have imported into Europe first.
  3. For thick areas, I also use a dremel style tool, or a hacksaw. It is also possible to use a hot wire (a taught wire that you run a current through to get it hot) if you are careful. You can score the surface with a thin blade first to keep the cut in the right place. An alternative to finishing with sandpaper is to dissolve the surface very carefully. Just a single drop of acetone on a q-tip can be used to finish the surface off quite nicely. You could even put a drop onto the part in the area you want to remove, and slowly mould it into the main part. If you cut off the puldron, you could also re-attach it on the other side. However, a better route is to start from a part that is closer to the one you want. Brickwarriors do a "harpy armour" that is symmetrical, so you could cut off one side of that if you want the pauldron over the other shoulder.
  4. If it came to renewal time and the creator didn't care about it any more, then it makes sense that it just disappeared overnight. Did anyone still use it? I can't say I've looked there in years. I imagine the advertising revenue dried up and it is not worth the effort or cost of running it.
  5. Maybe to you. But to others it is a family where both parents have black curly hair, and those genes have been passed on to the daughter.
  6. No, it isn't the end of LEGO police. They are not retiring sets. This is the era of clickbait headlines.
  7. For some people, the link back to a classic set of the past via the logo on the shirt is excellent, just like getting a shirt with a classic space or blacktron logo.
  8. For in-house sets, I think the simple answer is no. Leave it is at is. With licensed sets, they get the distribution of skin colours from the characters being portrayed in the relevant media. But how to do in-house themes? Do they do equal numbers of each colour, or do they base it on the demographics for the world or the region or the country they are sold in and need to have different sets for different places, or do they base it on the demographics of the people actually buying the sets? Plus they have to show some advertising on the box and the minifigures are made up. If there is a set with a reddish brown police officer and a light nougat crook and another set with a light nougat police officer and a reddish brown crook, then people will complain that the second set is racist and it will be all over twitter that LEGO is racist for producing this set and stereotyping people of colour as crooks.
  9. Yes, by better than now I meant for those wanting to buy blind. I was very similar to you, you only needed to learn the last few bars of the bar code to be able to pick out the ones you wanted. Same with the dot codes, I still remember some of those from 8 or 9 years ago, they are implanted in my brain. While that might work in a LEGO store, it is unlikely other stores. Most stores want to sell cheap consumer products rather than limit them.
  10. No we don't. They would be irrelevant for both this thread (Dream LEGO Licensed Themes) and this forum (LEGO Licensed).
  11. They've been in non-licensed sets, so chances are the part will be on there. However, they might still restrict the colours available.
  12. I believe so. There are others too, such as brickaizer. Personally, I wouldn't pay $5 for an image that has been pixelated, you can do this in many different software programs. BL Mosaick (before they retired it) allowed you to do this for free. When creating a mosaic, it is also worth looking at the colours of bricks being used, as some colours make it incredibly expensive.
  13. Not if they are licensed parts. Most of the licensed prints, or parts made specifically for SW, will not be on there. Sometimes some get through, but most get removed.
  14. If they revisit old (licensed) themes again due to a new movie (such as Indy) I wonder if they will do what they did with PotC, and just do one large detailed set or keep it like the original lines and do more smaller sets. I guess it partly depends on the audience. I got the impression that younger kids (that might be more into smaller play sets) were not so interested in PotC and the same might be true for Indy.
  15. You can still get baseball bats in 71716. And smash up the arcade if you want.
  16. One of the problems even then was that you couldn't really buy them blind, as other people knew what was in them and took out the popular ones. Buying blind really means buying blind from the ones left over. I remember using an app to scan the bar-codes to try to get multiples of the ones I wanted, the problem was often that someone else had already done it. I even learnt the last few bars in the barcode for some of them as it was quicker than scanning, and I still remember some of the dot codes for popular figures introduced after they removed the bar codes. So it wasn't really any better than now. The main difference now is that the packets get crumpled.
  17. It looks like someone is doing the inventory now, so it should be ready fairly soon.
  18. I saw this advertised on brickset. https://www.legohouse.com/en-gb/what-s-on/lego-house-live-tours/ You need to sign up. They are running five free virtual tours covering different eras in LEGO history. June 11 and 25, July 9, Aug 13, Sep 1
  19. Go to the BL page for the set, then part out to wanted list. I'd exclude all parts by default, then go down the list adding in parts that you need.
  20. Just a reminder for everyone for the DOTS pieces, you get one tile at random for 14c.
  21. It's funny, I remember sets from 30 or so years ago frequently used to use the clips on saddles, for swords, guns, flags, etc. I cannot think of any modern sets where the box art shows the clips on the saddles being used - probably only the winter village market for the flame on the carousel horse. Given the way parts often change design over the years, I wonder why they still have clips if they are not actually used for anything.
  22. COVID really seems to be having an effect on voting numbers on IDEAS. There are currently: 434 ideas with more than 1000 votes (still gathering support) of which 189 are over 2000 and 44 are over 5000. It used to be quite rare that there would be more than a couple with over 5000 at any one time.
  23. I think they are capemadness, you can see the same design on a different shaped banner on his BL site: https://store.bricklink.com/dingraham#/splash Obviously no longer allowed to sell customs on BL now LEGO owns it.
  24. Well they are continuing to release sets now, so presumably we will get some new ones in January. Production does not need many staff, and not close to each other. The issue might be designs of new sets, but I guess designers can still work from home and design decisions can still be made via online meetings.
  25. Is there a good way of seeing lego content there? I find it really useless, as most tags I search for have so much crap come up, usually nothing to do with the tag, as the poster uses so many irrelevant tags to get hits.
